I’m sorry you have to experience that mess. Hopefully Jacob can get home and help with the clean up. If you have a wet vacuum you should try to get the water out of the basement. With all of your health issues, you don’t want to get mold and breathe that in. Take care of yourself through all of this.

I’d get a dehumidifier immediately and put fans to blow down there. I’m so sorry for the people affected by this. The only thing happened me in Georgia. I had one of my trees break off. And crushed my fence. I’m so thankful. Feel really bad for everyone and I’m praying. 🙏🏼

I learned awhile back (when there was a foot of water in my basement and no power) to always have cash and gas on hand. (I have food for years) Keep the faith Miss Jenny, you're doing well.

Greensboro NC -we had a few trees down but I only have oak leaf clusters down - it actually was a sunny breezy day at my house. My heart breaks for all my mountain neighbors and the devastation to our beautiful state! We are NC Strong and we will come back! Bless everyone everywhere affected by this horrific hurricane! Jenn grab a simple landline phone at goodwill or something and keep one simple landline service at the house. In an emergency you should be able to always use a simple landline phone. Even if the power is out. Typically a landline would be underground and the last thing to go out. My mom in Seattle does this in the case of an earthquake she can still try to call out on a landline.

Once it hit me where the storm ended up I immediately went over to Facebook to check on the both of you. All that storm was supposed to end up where I am. I’m really glad you and the critter kids are okay! Everything else can be fixed and dealt with in time. If yall need anything let me know! I really mean it. Hey Jen! Glad you're okay! I watched Jacob's video about this yesterday. I'm from Greene County, TN.. dealing with all the collapsed bridges and we have NO running water til who knows when. I didn't have phone service for 72 hours. We got lucky and kept our power/internet, although it did go out a few times. We live up on a hill so we aren't too close to the flooding. I'm just glad you and Jacob are safe. So good to see your face and hear your voice again!

Oh Jenny! Jacob's channel sent me. I live in South Louisiana and we're always getting peppered with storms. Take it from me, get yourself a Nintendo DS Lite. They're not expensive, they have an enormous battery life, they don't need the internet, and they're backlit so they can be played in the dark. The games for the most part are very affordable. Something for you to do in a storm after the power goes out!

Oh, boy, could you get the shop vac and suck up the standing water in the basement into the utility sink? All that wet stuff will develop mold quickly. Do you have fans to run in the basement? Anything that got wet is basically a loss. So sorry you had to deal with this alone. All of your issues with this storm have provided valuable lessons on how to prepare for things in the future. Don't assume this won't happen again.

I'm going to start collecting cash to put away, and those freeze dried meals along with canned goods and bottled water. Experiencing the same thing here outside of Greenville SC. That was one pretty bad storm, trees down everywhere here. I’ve lived in The Carolina’s all of my life, 60 years, there’s never been a storm like this, or of this magnitude here in all of my life. Power has been out since Friday morning.

So glad you made it through! As people with chronic illnesses, we definitely need a preparedness plan. I can only imagine how the stresses of this, lack of sleep, and the weather changes of the hurricane itself have affected your energy levels. Definitely get battery or crank-operated radio for future. That would keep you informed as to what’s going on in your area if the power/cell towers/internet go down again. A stocked pantry can be a lifesaver too. A full tank of gas and cash before a hurricane is always a good idea as you’ve unfortunately learned the hard way. Happy end to disaster preparedness month, I guess?! Ready.gov has a list on how to build a preparedness kit for next time so you have less stress getting through the next disaster. Hang in there!!!

I'm happy to see that you made it through the ordeal with minimal damage. Hopefully Jacob can either get to you, or you can meet up with him. I remember going without power or phone during the huge East coast power grid crash. The only phone working was our land line. You guys might want to check how the house is graded on the side of the house that flooded. You might need to mound up that side and build a swail to get the water to flow away from it at best, at worst you'll have to have a drain installed.

Stay safe ❤ Im so glad you, cami & scarlet all made it out ok 💙 Its probably gonna take a long time to rebuild and all that but its just sad, scarry, and sucky between the loss of people/animals/homes/land/exctera Idk if you like weather pages but here on yt and fb Michigan storm chasers has been posting about where to help and updates and recommend a weather radio so it would probably help so you can get updated and they have them that run on solar/battery ( just something to think about for the next storm prep also don't forget to prep for the cat kids)

My son was stuck in Ashville with no food water electricity or cell phone service. It's horrific out there. He was finally able to drive out on I26 on Sunday. I am so very thankful to have him home. He was met with kindness from others stuck in a hotel together and they got out together in a caravan of cars helping each other out when someone ran out of gas.
