African male geese have longer necks, different shaped heads, different voice, no belly and are aggressive. Buttercup pumpkins are the best. Grow like weeds even in cold climates and are the best tasting.
@HiddenSpringFarm Жыл бұрын
The ganders of the embdens have similar traits but tough for me to judge while they’re younger. It’s very clear when fully grown. I’ve never heard of buttercup is there a different name for them?
@CmdrSoCal Жыл бұрын
Green (burgess) and orange buttercup. They have seeds online. Got 35 pumpkins from a 4x8 raised bed this year. Great steamed and eaten with molasses. Chickens like the seeds and mush from the inside. Pumpkins and raspberries are the best for my climate. Bumper crops every year easy to grow easy to propagate.@@HiddenSpringFarm

Thanks for this, I've seen a fair bit about most birds on most farms down some years, but this was different because it highlighted the behaviour differences between all of them so well. Never saw that before and I learned a lot from it. It's easy to miss the subtle differences in their mannerisms until you show them all along side like this did. Everything seems to be moving forwards nicely. Be well.😉

I raise jumbo pekins with my chickens and never have issues with hawks or falcons. Must be a size thing. Also have recently added geese to the flock because they were rescues.

Hi Chad, my compliments for your hard work, I enjoy watching your vids very much. We have a couple of dozens of marvelous Khaki Campbell ducks on our homestead, and your videos have been very useful for us as amateur “farmers” ( I’m a Head & Neck surgeon by profession), so thank you so much for your useful advices. Best, Eitan, Tuscany (Italy)

To add one or more chickens to the flock, you have to do it gradually so the original flock can get used to them you coud put them in an adjacent coop where they could see each other for a while. And then they will follow the pecking order. If you watch Cog Hill farm, they did that for their gard geese as well put it in some small pen for a time and when they let it out the chickens were ok with it.

Great day on the farm. You say only roosters have combs. Do you mean waddles? Look at your Heritage breeds, your Rhode Island Reds. The hens have combs and waddles.
@HiddenSpringFarm Жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s always a fun time here. I just meant the roos have a much bigger comb and wattle so it’s easier to identify, maybe I mis-spoke. Have a great day 😊

Why Is Killing a Chipmunk a Good Thing.?!?!?!?!🤔🙄😬🤨
@HiddenSpringFarm Жыл бұрын
It’s really not the killing that’s a good thing, it’s the fact that the cats are doing their job defending their farm. Chipmunks get into the barns, poop everywhere etc so they are a nuisance. Think of it this way…if not for the cats we would be overrun with chippies cause they don’t have many predators around the farm area.
