I'm 22, I've been playing pickleball for 2 and a half years starting from zero because I had never touched a paddle or racquet. I'm sure that I've watched more pickleball than the 99% of pickleball players, and because of that now I am playing 5.0 tournaments in Europe and doing quite good. The most important point that you said for me it is to watch pickleball. By doing this I've focused on every single concept of the game. The grips of the pros, the movement in the court, the reading of the game, and everything, and I am still doing this, watching every single pro tournament and every single game of it. And of course, watching every single game of you, cheering a lot.

My goat, thanks for the advice and reality check! Really would love to also see a updated drill video on certain things you've been focusing on in these recent times (with live demonstrations) maybe too much to ask for but would be cool 🐐

@TweenerKing It was an amazing experience meeting you in Dallas and I am blown away by your skills and down to earth, no-attitude, NO non-sense mindset. Thank you for a big inspiration. I unknowingly stopped you ( I apologize) just before mixed doubles final on Sunday and you did not hesitate for a picture with my kid. THANK YOU !

I agree 100% with hitting on a wall. It can help you in many ways including hand speed. Oh it gets even better when you mention the book "The Inner Game of Tennis" I've listened to it many times. I recommend the suggested teaching style of that book. I think another good book is "With Winning in Mind: 3rd Edition". Oh and you also mentioned watching yourself on video - another great tip! Thanks for sharing!

Watch and replicate along with drilling those things into your game thousands of time! Repeat the same shot over and over until it is second nature. 55 years old - 25 years of tennis and 3 years of pickleball. Using my old tennis drills for pickleball that I learned at Bollettieri's camps.

Absolutely love your advice;it’s extremely simple yet insightful. I will definitely be passing this on to my 15 year old that wants to go pro. He played in Dallas this past weekend at the worlds and was blown away at what is out there! The future is so bright for pickleball!

Good list. You mentioned it but I think it's worth emphasizing: watch yourself on video too. It's really hard to see what you aren't doing correctly until you see it and have a pro break it down for you.

I’ve been playing for 2 months and already play at a 5.0 level. I have a college tennis background. Is that a good trajectory towards pro pickleball?

I would say so. Just don’t expect it to happen overnight!

I'm a huge fan so give this GIRL a paddle. Save me from my Amazon wooden paddle that gave me tennis AND gold elbow! I'm a 3+ without a good paddle. Thanks.

Hey Alshon! On my way to go pro! Hey also, I'm currently using the SLK HALO Pro XL paddle. Do you think that will be good enough for a while? Then a year down from now upgrading?
@TweenerKingАй бұрын
I haven’t played with it. I’d say take a look at the pro scene and see if there are any players out there using it. Also ask yourself if it fits your play style well.

My advice would be not to wipe your forehead between every serve because it is annoying to everyone playing/watching. Why do you wear wrist bands and a hat if you’re always towering off every point? 😂
