Just a gentle reminder to those like me who’ve failed tests: That one grade is not the end of your life. You are so much more than that one score. There are always ways to recover. Be kind to yourself and treat yourself the way you’d treat your best friend.

@ABisdoingjustfine3 жыл бұрын
@@slimsauu389 What I said still holds true. Be kind to yourself. You’re the only one who knows your full story the way you do, so you gotta be your own champion. Passing has been normalised so much that people (at least in my experience) look down upon you if you’ve failed a subject, let alone many. Ignore them. I’m positive you’ll figure it out though, because you’re so much more than all those grades. You’ll get through this. 💖

In my country the professors are setting a shorter time limit to avoid cheating between students, at the first semester last year cheating was the norm and almost everyone ended up passing, but the 2nd semester the teachers change the method and they ended up setting a shorter time window and an increase on the difficulty of the tests, i dont know if this method is better but is putting a lot of stress and the school load it's been increasing as well

I'm studying data science at UC Berkeley, and have had a really hard semester so far. I dropped one of my core computer science courses and failed my first probability for data science exam. At this point, I've realized I need to re-think the way I learn and retain material because what I have done in the past is just not working anymore for my upper div classes. I'm going to give this approach of making a course summary a shot for my next probability exam, thank you!

My first ever exam at uni was a zoom oral exam. I was so freaked out and nervous that I failed it. I retook the test last week and got an A, without additional studying, just because I was more relaxed and familiar with the format. If you fail, don't beat yourself up. I have studied for online classes and made good notes. Overall I found unless it’s a hybrid class or the professor says, “no notes allowed” it’s better just to make good notes. The Integrated Marketing class pulls from the lecture, model, and textbook so all the questions are pulled from different areas and are slightly different in wording. I would make to many notes than not enough. Another thing if something looks important in the textbook 50/50 it may be on the test so put down a star and go back to it after. Finally, don’t just jot things down label everything and categorize. Otherwise your notes might as well be useless!

When you make the study guide : you only write down the titles of the concepts (no further explanation) and then you try to explain them outloud ? Or you write down an explanation e.t.c in your "study guide" because that sometimes can be confusing (what to leave out and stuff ) and time consuming ..
@whothinksimawesome2 жыл бұрын
I find it difficult to relate to this video. It may just be a deficiency in my own study habits, but In my experience, understanding every concept in the course doesn't necessarily guarantee that you'll be able to solve the problems on the test. It may not even guarantee that you'll be able to solve the problems on the practice exam, as these are often much more difficult than any problems the teacher goes over in class. Also, the problem isn't just understanding the concepts - it's recalling your understanding of the concepts that is the main challenge. I do see the value though in creating a summary/cheat sheet outlining all the concepts in the course. Btw, how early do you begin studying?
