I'm in the second year of Information Engeneering, and at the beginning of this year it was hard to keep going. I can't even say for sure if was the University, or all the other things. But now, I see that was all of them, because they were unbalanced. Since then, I've been working on my organization, setting priorities, setting goals for my day, my week, my life. I started meditating and sharing my time with people that I really appreciate, I began to observe the beauty of the day by day, besides all the challenges that I had to deal with. Sleeping well, eating well, practicing exercises, studying, developing projects, sharing happiness with people. These things changed my life, in every possible way. And I'm really grateful for you Jhon, and all the other people that directly or indirectly helped me keep going and living my life as intense and happy that I'm capable to live. Evolve, be happy, peace ! 👊🤙

Summary: 1. Time management- Journal or google calendar, hour by hour schedule of the day along with to-dos and goals, at the end of the day write gratitude thought, google calendar for events. 2. Priorities- Having a real sense of all your priorities, broad activities you spend time on and then decide their importance, make adjustments, dedicating a minimal amount of time and energy on less important priorities, allows you to be ok with a negative outcome on things you spend less time on but get comfortable with. 3. Communication- Everyone involved in your life whether your friends, teachers, family want something from you (time, energy), effectively communicate, talk to people and tell them about your situation so hopefully the other side can understand us better, it is not a weakness.

Prabuddha Shrestha well I am focused on my academics and sleep around 6 hours a day but I’m not going to change it becuase it’s my priority to get good grades.Dont copy what he’s doing blindly,ask yourself do you really want to study less and get less marks?

I think we both need to sit and think...does grades matter that much that we compromise our health?
@snowfox006 жыл бұрын
It seems like a good idea ^-^ Some people need more sleep than others by default, so don't beat yourself up because you get the sleep you need. When your body is well rested you might even find that you learn faster/better ^-^ School is important surely, but even as a top priority it shouldn't overwhelm you so much that you don't take care of yourself properly!
@snowfox006 жыл бұрын
You're right, one shouldn't adopt new behaviors without thinking them through a bit, to see it they fit them well. At the same time, health is not something you should compromise on for good grades, at least that's how I see it. Think about it, if you sleep well enough, you'll be rested and so you'll be able to learn faster and better. Then again, the amount of sleep people need differs from person to person, so you might be ok with sleeping that much, while for others it may be a very destructive thing to do.
@84lakshanab806 жыл бұрын
I'm on the same boat as you prepping for NEET. I started prioritising the most important things like sleep and mental health and spending less time on books (making those 6 hrs of work really efficient) now my grades have actually improved, I'm able stay alert and observent during class and I retain more stuff. Spending less hours doesn't necessarily mean bad grades just use them wisely and be focused. I made these changes because I realized that this bad cycle is never gonna stop. Even after I get a medical seat I have to work my ass off anyhow.

The video was great. Awesome to have you back because you are an amazing inspiration. However as a disabled person(I walk with walking stick because there was a mistake made during surgery) I can't relate to some things that you say. It is much easier for a healthy person to do your university stuff, physical activities, social life etc. I do my best but sometimes the sadness of my situation overcomes me. I would like to ask you if you have any advice for me considering finding a balance between doing my best/hard work and also having a rest without becoming lazy. Also please keep up making your videos considering the topic of university and your personal growth because for a disabled guy like me it is one of the greatest inspirations I have in my life. Kind Regards!
@chrisbranton736 жыл бұрын
I'm very sorry for your situation. Although, I think you can still translate those things to priorities of your own. Maybe substitute physical activities for a stimulating brain activity like chess or pool, or do yoga or what can help preserve your health. John mentions a book he read called "The subtle art of not giving a F*ck" and I think you could find the main purpose of that book very interesting (quick, easy read too). I can't imagine how hard it must be going through what you are, as I am obviously very grateful and lucky to have a relatively healthy body, but everyone has their own individual problems and in the end it comes down to our views of these problems and our response to them.
@thejohnfish6 жыл бұрын
I’ve never had to deal with anything like that before and I’m so sorry that you do. That being said, it sounds like you’re being super self critical and maybe a bit neurotic about your situation. I can’t blame you, I get neurotic about mine for no reason. The key for me is to try to stay as closely tied to reality and the moment as possible. Don’t beat yourself up for not being able to work out: figure out how to apply your energy to something productive. And if you have no energy, rest. It’s not lazy if you need to rest, it’s normal and healthy. I think if you study and practice how to stay in the moment, it could be really beneficial to you.
@nuclear73825 жыл бұрын
MrPresidente98 I very much agree with all the previous comments. Accept who you are and shape your goals according to yourself; don’t hold on to your previous life but see your difficulties as challenges. It all depends on your response to life’s circumstances. Wish you all the best.

I love this. I have been writing down what I need to do each weekend/week for school. I am double majoring and triple minoring and have been applying these aspects of balance talked about in your video into my life. I feel I have gotten really good at balancing my life. I still maintain my straight A's, I have a decent social life in and outside of class, and even find time to play ultimate three to four times a week. It all just takes a bit of work to figure out what you need vs what you want and what ranks higher in one's life, like you said in your video about prioritizing school, social life, extra curricular ordeals. Great video John. Keep it up. I might see you at Harvard one day.

I have trouble balancing taking care of myself and helping my family. I work so my family and I can afford the things we need because my moms monthly alimony doesn’t cover my medical/food/bills. Finding doable jobs that aren’t temporary are hard to find, and when I am working, it is hard to eat balanced meals, keep my teeth healthy, and stay mentally healthy. I am working so we can move out of the house we recently bought that doesn’t work for us, and my having a job is paramount. There are so many problems with our house- the fact that it doesn’t work for us in the long term means I work to build up our savings and buy a new house; but our day to day lives are made harder by it. We need to do some serious cleaning and organizing, but we never can find the time on top of everything else. I am told how so many things are a top priority, and yet I only have two hands. Watching your videos has really helped me gather my thoughts and gain perspective on the things that are most meaningful to me. Thank you so much for sharing your insights with the world. P.S., I met your brother last year when I was touring Laurier (my home school) and he showed me his dorm, and that's how I got put on to you! Ask him if he remembers if you get the chance. Thanks again brother, and good luck with your studies this term!

So envious of your mindset John! I wish I was half as balanced as you!
