Dominic Nicholls served in the British Army for 23 years, retiring in 2015 as Lieutenant Colonel.
He was deployed to Afghanistan between September 2010 - April 2011 on Operation Herrick 13 and describes the dawning realisation that Britain was set up to fail and the war could never be 'won'.
