I started to lose my hair at 17 (not alopecia) as a man it was awful I can only imagine how bad it would be for a woman. Hair is definitely a big part of people identify. Great video as usual, I really think this is gold right here-needs to go viral.

Yes, I feel like alopecia is psychologically much harder for many people to deal with than autoimmune diseases like arthritis and chronic inflammation!! If going viral means getting more people to try AIP then I am all for it!!! :)

Very inspiring. Alopecia is no fun at all. I lost all my hair at 11 to Alopecia universalis. Everything was gone, the head, eyebrows, eyelashes, arms and legs, totally hairless. At 18 is started to come back in patches here and there. At 42 I have eyebrows, eyelashes, beard but my head has always been thin and patchy. Very little hair on arms and legs. Funny to hear you use the word freak. I recently wrote about my experience and the word freak kept coming out of me. I didn’t realize how much humiliation and emotional pain I have been living with for most of my life over this until I decided to write about it. But hearing your story is so beautiful, just to know there are others out there who understand how traumatic and confusing and scary this can be. Thank you for sharing

My story is not nearly as devastating as your's however, stress is absolutely causing my hair to fall out. I've discovered this through extensive research and a few Dr visits. Going through the same thing. Hair falling out for almost 20 years. So many doctors. So many I dont knows. I have so little left and constantly trying to position it correctly and hide it. The wind is my worst enemy. I feel like it's from my gut. I always have. I'm ready to dive into this diet. I've tried many many things but I need to stick to this. I wore a wig for 3 years because it was so embarrassing. I finally just decided to stop but I hate how I look now.. stress of your hair is hard to not have when you are dealing with it. My question besides stress and diet change, which I am working on, did you use any specific products that actually helped? I'm worried that since it's been so long it wont grow back so your story is so encouraging! How long after all of your changes did you notice it was coming back?

@@RealWorldAIP Good evening, I do have some answers but straight to the alopecia. I too developed alopecia areata. My hair was to my waist-natural blonde and curly. Stress triggered. It devastated me. I do use special topical oils and expensive hair vitamins to make it grow faster. Being diabetic I had eaten a lot of good things. Just upped it to the AIP and got officially diagnosed for the hair loss. Clobetasol will help accelerate the hair grow back. It makes my sugar go high though So being careful there. Starting my own website and going from there. Randy Hall and Evelyn Orlicz Chins Up!

I'm about to try AIP, I feel like I've tried everything, for me I've always been a little overweight and so that's mostly my goal, because certain foods trigger me to want to overeat, but anyway, that's not my point, my point is, have you heard of anyone doing vegetarian AIP? I don't like meat, only seafood occasionally, but I have been eating like crap lately and I got a rare craving for a burger, but I prefer to seldom eat meat. I hope it's ok to do. I have been vegan before, but ate a lot of grains and legumes along with veggies and I felt very good on that diet, but I never could kick my sugar addiction. I just saw your AIP success video. It was awesome, thanks for sharing your story. It was very encouraging. My mother has very serious celiac and other health issues, I hope she'll try this too. I'm glad AIP allows some sweeteners in moderation like maple or date, but do you find it's best to just stay away from sweetener altogether? Just eat fruit instead? Unfortunately I have a stress disorder C-PTSD and I'm always stressed, because I am a trauma survivor so that is partly why I overeat, it's emotional eating basically, but when I cut out dairy and bread, and sugar I usually don't get cravings. But having PTSD makes it extremely difficult for me to stick to anything for more than a couple weeks. I really hope I can just try this for a month. I may have to just take it one day at a time like a 12 step group or something. Anyway, cheers. Liked and subbed. :)

It is possible to do pescatarian AIP, but not vegan. Animal based protein is a requirement of AIP guidelines. It's definitely best to limit allowed sweets to special occasions. I have a series of videos called Baby Steps to AIP that might be helpful to you☺ kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2q8gYaoecp5aMk

Hey Stacey! Love your videos, thanks for sharing your experience because it's very helpful to other sufferers of AI conditions. I'm 23 and 2 months ago my alopecia started. I've always had problems with gluten, dairy and potatoes making me feel gassy and bloated so since January this year I tried to avoid those and my bloating really stopped. Towards April, being recently single I started going out a lot, and over summer it just got more and more, to the point I'd be out 4 times a week and that's when my hair started falling out. I often hear that alopecia is stress induced, but I always thought there's nothing really stressing me out and only recently it hit me that maybe going out so much puts a lot of stress on my body. So now I am going to stop the clubbing and not stress about my hair. Do you recommend I try the AIP diet? I think I can do it since I already eliminated gluten, dairy and potatoes from my diet. I am so grateful for your videos and you look amazing for your age, wow! I am so glad to hear AIP worked so well for you. A big hug, Marco
@RealWorldAIP6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Marco!!! Your nice comments made my day :) A break up can be so stressful, it might have been one of the major triggers too! Drinking a lot could also be a trigger and one of the worst things I see people do related to drinking is to pop ibuprofen for hangover prevention or treatment- it can lead to permeable intestinal lining- "leaky gut" along with inflammation and so many other health issues related to it. Anyway, I think AIP would be worth a try!

What’s hard is when you’re in a stressful season that you don’t really have control over. I’m in a crazy rigorous graduate program and also called off my engagement and wedding last year which was traumatizing for me and my body has gone crazy. But, I couldn’t exactly just make the grief disappear, and I didn’t want to quit school because I’m almost done (graduating in May 🎉 also the grief is much better, time helps, so thankful). Do you have any videos or tips on how to manage stress when it’s unavoidable?
@RealWorldAIP5 жыл бұрын
You are very very strong!!!!!💪💕 I wish I could advise people on how to handle stress when it's unavoidable but I would feel like a hypocrite because I am not honestly very good at handling stress. That's an ongoing area I need to improve on. There was a time in my 20's when I was going to school and working full time and I was just SO stressed out and overwhelmed, I was miserable, I ended up dropping out because I only had enough in me for work or school, not both and I had rent to pay and car payment... I purposefully schedule my days to make sure I can sleep in and try to get as much alone time as possible to recharge, stress is my #1 trigger for health issues and aside from avoiding it where I can and being mindful of having a positive attitude I have not discovered any secrets on how to deal with it. By your story, I think you would be in a better position to advise me on that topic. I'm proud of you!!💕💕

@@RealWorldAIP This was honestly a huge unexpected blessing to me. Thank you for your life-giving words of encouragement. Your transparency is just a gift. We need more of that. Thank you for that honesty. I think I struggle with feeling guilty that I don't currently have the means to reduce the stressors in my life, but your response reassured me that that has to be okay and is okay. Sometimes taking care of yourself looks like making drastic changes, and other times it looks like managing the best you can because there's nothing else to be done. In those times you learn the power of a quick Epsom salt bath or the practice of mindful breathing.

I have been through that too, in times of stress I shed a LOT of hair! Even when I don't THINK I'm stressed out or I don't feel stressed out, if I have a big life change it's enough to make me shed like a husky in summer. I always change shampoos just in case it's a reaction or build-up or something, because it feels good to think there is SOMEthing I can change/control...kind of a just in case thing...but really I just have to not get even more stressed because of my hair and maybe give it a trim to make it look fuller and do whatever stress reduction I can! I hope that helps!💕💕
