My Amazing 718 Porsche GT4 Delivery Experience - E5: Polishing

It's time to prep and polish the GT4 to get the paint really dialed in. Since it's a new car it won't be too difficult to get it looking amazing. The paint's fairly hard so we're going with microfiber pads and jescar to get the deeper scratches and finishing with the new Rupes white foam pads and Sonax Perfect Finish. The end result is just awesome and now it's ready to be coated.

Hey Matt, glad it came out so good I always look forward to new episodes. Did install Swiss tracks about 10 days ago really enjoying it find myself walking out in the garage a lot more just to look at it. For the mirror tight areas... used a dremel with a foam pad to get that OG standard. Works on the door handle well as well. I do all of these tight areas first, then work over the rest of the car.

Sounds kinda gimmicky, but CeraKote trim wipes work extremely well, and last a VERY long time. Even with many washes

Well.........unless the car is being prepared for a car show or you’re going to hang it on a wall inside your home, I don’t get it! It’s a car.........meant to be driven and depreciate.......and not worry about every soon-to-be stone chip or ding. I personally don’t see any benefit to spending this amount of time making it look pristine. It won’t stay that way for long. I’d rather put all by car time into driving it and enjoying the experience...........which is exactly what I do with my Porsche 911 Carrera...........every single day! P.S. And, yes........your GT4 looks gorgeous.

Why can the rear lenses be polished but the front can not? What steps are done on the front?

The fronts probably have a few layers of protection, (beadmaker , etc) and polishing them would most certainly remove that protective coating. Edit: I'm an idiot for thinking he would've put coatings on before polishing lol, They might have some OE coating for reflectivity or maybe a tint I'm not sure

Most (if not all anymore) headlights have some sort of factory applied UV protective coating on them - so if you hit them too hard then you remove that coating, and the headlights tend to deteriorate (foggy and yellowing lenses, etc.) much faster. So it's better to stay away from polishing them too hard unless they're really beat up and need it.

It isn’t recommended. The smaller orbit and dig into the paint. I’d use wool.

Avdi Jashari it has a factory coating that protects against uv rays. If u polish headlights you will remove the coating and headlights will yellow and fog from oxidation extremely quick.

The headlights have a coating on them from factory.Owners manual even says to not polish the lenses.

Paint is just put on cars to stop the sheet metal from corrosion / rust. Then they just slap different colors on it to suit the average consumer. I disrespect my paint just use a wet towel and wipe the dirt off. My car looks fine, I use a touch up paint that is cream and not white but it doesn't matter because I only use it to prevent rust on the rock chips. Sorry to be negative.

Also if you polish too much you break through the clear coat and begins to sun fade, then your car will look like a shitbox farm ute. If I owned a luxury car I would for sure not polish it.

MF Cutting pad on new paint? Clueless. Plus you move the da way too fast over the panels. Slower passes with less aggressive pad is far more effective with megs MF Da system.

Your very weird! You buy new cars so you can polish the paint and coat the paint and clean and coat the wheels? Drive the car and after a few years sell it and buy a new car already. You need some serious counseling. It is a car and will get road wear and some Mom van will park too close and kids will open their door-- Yellow rags are better than white rags….. it is just a mass produced Sports car. You should work for classic car owners that enter their cars in concours competition. But this is just a Porsche Cayman - sprayed by machines….
