I have been watching for 2 years and I know he mentions it periodically and that they both create the content. However, it would be good for autumn to have the content she creates credited on KZbin for future use on a resume. Of course Ryan doesn't need to credit her, but it is his daughter...why not give her the recognition she so well deserves?

@@99allthetime and he will have Ryan's blessing until he feels like he's getting too much work and taking away from him. but seriously, I don't think that will happen. It is hard to run a business. I think he realizes that and that's why he chooses to keep working for Ryan. It's a lot less stress that way.

Ryan, I hope you get a chance to read this. Times can get frustrating even for the boss. May I make a suggestion this is from years of leading in the military. Friday's need to be pep talk days for you and your team. What wen't right during the week what does the team need to do to work better together. You had every reason to be frustrated. People need to quit sitting around and look around to see what needs to be done next. These guys know the job already but they seem to get spaced out when it comes to the flow of things. Sure each job is a little different but when the boss goes to start ripping up concrete if the truck isn't around then the boys need to wake up. Critiquing yourself and the crew once a week will get everyone in line. you already have a good team its some little things that will make them a great team.

why wait till he gets older? buy him a hammer, tape measure, etc. and give him some 2x4's and see what happens. if he shows interest, send him to trade school or union. there, you get paid to learn and some trade schools help with job placement. ive been in concrete since '95 and a finisher since '97 but along the way ive picked up other skills in construction and mechanical knowhow. since i live on the frozen prairie, we only work 6-8 months of the year so we get a nice, long vacation. im on salary year round so its paid vacation for me. ive been in concrete for almost 30 yrs and before that, some siding, roofing and brick tending so 35 yrs in the trades as im 50 yr old now. i dont regret any of it. i made a good living for only having a 10th grade education. but ive learned more real world knowledge than they will ever teach in schools. that is if they even teach anything these days thats applicable to living daily life. sad to think that kids these days will be printing their names instead of writing it. with the way schools are going, if you want your kid to have a normal life, get him working now so he'll want to go into the trades and shy away from "higher" education. like geroge carlin said, "college is a waste of time and money. by the time you graduate, all the drop outs already have the jobs."

There are 2 different kind of bosses, the ones that gives you the task and let you think for youreself and the one who micromanages. I think you are the second kind Ryan, I worked for this kind of bosses, I always get scared to not make mistakes to the point I don’t do anything unless asked to. I prefer the kind who just gives me the task and let me to it, usually the job gets done faster and better than the boss expected. Guess what? The people who work under me impress me in the good way all the time, I let them do the job the best they know, if they don’t do it right I just tell them how to do it after I see it doesn’t look like it’s getting done right. That’s what my father taught me: “Allow people to make mistakes , and learn from them” But as for you, you are a perfectionist, if things don’t go perfect, you explode. People are afraid to make you upset, and avoid taking initiative, just to not make mistakes.

It's so nice to see you out doing the work, concrete men are dying breed where I live there used to be tradesmen that could do anything and they were the best but when they retired no one took over their business and they're all gone. I had a big concrete job not long ago and I had to get guys from another state to come and do it. But I want to say when they showed up they were top notch, it was a family-owned business it was the dad and his 4 sons, they showed up with every piece of equipment they needed, no more having to rent the bobcats for the concrete guys no more having to go find tools, these guys had it all and they knew what they were doing they put down 150 yards of concrete faster than anyone I've ever seen and it was perfect when they got finished.

A lot of those old timers refused to pass down the knowledge as they were afraid they would be replaced by the young bucks if the young bucks were just as knowledgeable as them. So who's fault is it? The generation that doesn't know how to do anything and has a poor work ethic, or the generation that raised the generation that doesn't know how to do anything and has a poor work ethic? Serious question. I work with several guys that are less than 2 years from retirement, and not a single one of them wants to teach the new generation how to do anything, yet they all learned from the guys that came before them, who understood the importance of passing the knowledge down to the next generation, and were proud to see the young guys learn and become professionals like themselves. What I'm saying is, the old bucks failed this new generation. While the old bucks were making bank and only looking out for themselves, their kids were being neglected, left sitting around playing video games and never holding them accountable or giving them responsibilities. I understand that not everyone from the old generation did this, and not everyone from the new generation either, but the overwhelming majority of them did, and the ultimate responsibility falls back on the generation that refused to raise their kids properly, and failed to take the time and teach them the trades that they were fortunate enough to learn from those that came before them. Let's stop pretending like this problem just sprung up from nowhere, because this was a long time in the making, and now the chickens are coming home to roost, and tge old bucks wanna act like they are innocent and its all the fault of the young guys.
@20truck
@20truck Жыл бұрын
@@Watchdog_McCoy_5.7x28 One of the biggest problems I see is that a lot of young people want to get paid a very high wage but yet they don't very high job skills, for instance I asked a guy one time what he wanted to be paid to be a lead carpenter he told me at least $25 per hour and that's pretty good in our area. I said okay you're a carpenter and you know what you're doing correct he said yes I handed him a frameing square and I said cut me a set of stair stringers out of that 2x12 over there, he said we'll just go down to 84 Lumber and buy a set and I said no you'll cut them out of that 2x12, he had no idea how to cut a set of stair stringers using a framing square. That's carpentry 101. So a lot of these people want high wages but they don't have the skill set to go with those high wages and that's another big problem. That's why they're not learning from older people because the older people aren't going to pay them to stand around with their hands in their pocket. If I'm going to hire you as a carpenter then that's what you're going to do You're not going to carry lumber all day that's what the labor jobs are for. And when it's freezing cold and you got to go out and frame a house that's hard work and a lot of people just don't want to do with these days That's what's basically killing a lot of trades right there. I don't know what the answer is but before too long you're going to be paying more to see a plumber or a carpenter or an electrician then you will any doctor.

That job needed three blokes minimum, not two. Two to roll it out very slowly while third goes behind using the hand roller to ensure no bubbles. “Some days you just wish you were an employee.. and you didn’t have all the pressure” Few can relate to that, but those who do, understand how wise and true that is. Being the boss man is no easy task. My dad owns a remodeling company and he’s also had me bid and do my own jobs before. It’s a world of difference when you go from somebody who’s just expected to show up and work, to somebody who has to plan, organize, gather materials and tools, AND THEN help with the work.
