A quick update Russ, the blue wires you pointed to at the beginning are the spark plug wires; the probes are still installed in the exhaust headers.
@RusscanFLYАй бұрын
Yeah, I seem to screwed that up. I was thinking about it when I was editing the video, and thought to myself, I think I’ve got that wrong. But I decided to keep it in because that’s what I was thinking in real time. Thanks for letting me know That’s the beauty of this whole annual. I’m learning more about my Airplane and, what everything is under that cowling!

This is perfect. I love how your relationship with the company has been so positive and fruitful along your aviation journey. So many don't take the time to build that relationship.
@RusscanFLYАй бұрын
Thank you so much! Yes, it is such a blessing to have this great working relationship with Leading Edge. They have been amazing across-the-board, and I’m truly blessed to have both the Flight School and the mechanic shop as partners in my journey. Take care, and thank you for your support!
@wtwoods6687Ай бұрын
Thank you Russ! I always learn something from your videos. Thumbs up for the company doing your annual and letting us in there. If I owned an airplane I’d definitely want to see the process of an annual.
@RusscanFLYАй бұрын
I’m definitely glad you learned something from the videos. That’s definitely a huge component of what I’m trying to do on a channel for sure. All the things that I’m experiencing, I’m trying to present it, so people can understand what’s involved and what’s at stake. Take care, and thank you as always for the support.

Got my inspection coming this weekend. Make sure you check their work and pre-flight the heck out of it!
@RusscanFLYАй бұрын
Good luck on your inspection! Definitely will do. I know some of the craziest accidents are right after maintenance is done. Let me know how your inspection goes!
@chadpm11Ай бұрын
The blue lines are the spark plug leads coming from the magnetos, egt sensors are normally in the exhaust system. The CHT sensors can be in a few different places depending on the system that is used. Just a little info.. other than that keep the videos coming when you can it definitely looks like you are getting more and more ppl interested in flying, and this is what GA needs badly nowadays.
@RusscanFLYАй бұрын
Thank you so much for this additional info. I’m always willing to learn, and I love comments like this that teach me new things. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and provide these very helpful comments. Also, I thank you for letting me know that this channel is doing what it is intended to do. I want to get as many people as possible interested in general aviation. And that includes all aspects, be a pilot, mechanics, and everything else. Thank you so much again!

You seem to have made the correct decision in choosing a facility you have a relationship and trust built up for the annual inspection. I like that you are hands on in the process of checking as you go. I don't know what kind of arrangement you have with them, but the one thing I think I would do if I were an aircraft owner is to make sure one of the mechanics did a post-inspection flight with me. It seems like a good percentage of accidents happen after coming out of maintenance.. Not like picking up your car after a tuneup and something goes wrong you can just call a tow and go back to the repair facility. Take care and be safe.
@RusscanFLYАй бұрын
That’s absolutely a great idea! In fact, I think that’s something that I am definitely going to ask to do. I’m fairly sure that most of the mechanic shops in my area do just that. But just in case, I think we’ll do that for sure. Take care!

Great video Russ, food for thought, upgrade to an Artex ELT 345 slim kit and the battery will be good for 7 years I believe it is And you won’t have to spend money on a new battery every 2 years on that old orange ELT and you will be up to date with the new current version of ELT. A&P installation required. The ones I’ve installed have only taken me about 5-6 hours to install. Cause the wiring has to be soldered manually and wires have to be routed manually nice neat and clean. The new Artex. ELT runs in the ball park of around $1,000 range.

Good to know! At something, I’m definitely going to look into. Definitely a couple things to think about next go round. Definitely gonna look seriously at that Tanis heating system. Take care, brother!

So glad you have a great A&P center and that’s an awesome turn around time for an annual!! Keep up the good vibes and fly safe brother!!

Thank you so much! Leading Edge has truly been a blessing for sure. From the time that I went there to start running their aircraft, to now doing my annual inspection, best place ever! Take care!
@ericsd55Ай бұрын
"deep dive into the annual cost..." OMG are you crazy man?!?! Denial is the best tool we have to "justify" owning an airplane! :) Never admit to the true costs lol. If you do run the numbers accurately, make sure you add into the budget sleeping bag cost, camp stove gas, and truckstop showers...cuz yer (me) gunna be living under the wing! I only joke. I understand the responsibility to take care of the family first, big toys after. Great video again. There is a whole 'nuther world under the pretty paint and panel and I'm glad you are learning about it.
@RusscanFLYАй бұрын
Don’t forget all the tuna and Ramen that I’ll have to eat after all of the resources are set out of every account where it can be found!🤣🤣🤣 I agree with you about the new world underneath the cowling. Definitely a lot of wires and probes and things that I’m still learning what they are where they go, and they are connected. Take care!
@fly4fun350Ай бұрын
Russ just a heads up your hand was on the blue spark plug wires not temp probes
@RusscanFLYАй бұрын
Do you know, as I was editing the video, I started, noticing what I was touching, and I thought to myself, I think I’m touching the spark plug wires. But, I decided to go ahead and publish the video as is, so that folks can see that I’m truly learning, everything about my airplane from the ground up. I have a lot to learn, but that’s what makes it fun and amazing. Thank you for pointing that out, and keep making sure I get things right! Take care, and be well!
