I was all over the place in different ecosystems that when i wanted to find something i could not find it or complicated everything instead of being productive. Also, i had subscriptions models all over the place. I did some hard soul searching and decided to go from Evernote to Apple Notes, from Microsoft 365 Office to Apple's native Pages and Numbers etc.. All my hardware is Apple so sticking with native apps for peace of mind.

Makes a lot of sense! Also you're right, the subscription argument is underrated

You are practical and your opinion about Notion is correct.

I love Obsidian and have been using it ever since they came out with their mobile app. However, Apple Notes was always a digital filing cabinet for me and a place for all family/shared stuff. Eventually, because it was easiest to use on a Mac, Obsidian became a place where I only did long-form writing and work-related writing/note taking. And then even that slowly migrated over to Apple Notes. At the end of the day, Apple Notes is just really fast, feature-rich, and stable. Even with Obsidian Sync I found that syncing on my devices took awhile. Plugins were great until someone stopped supporting them, which happens not infrequently. I also found myself fiddling with Obsidian a lot, which ate up time. Most importantly, when I needed to access notes on mobile, Obsidian was slow and not very mobile-friendly. More and more of my note taking, even for work, takes place on my iPhone or iPad these days. Now that I can add links to notes and copy links for pasting into other apps, Apple Notes is a much better option for me. I love how Apple Notes handles PDFs and other media attachments too.

really like your takes, let me add a few notes (no pun intended): - Apple Notes just works, plus it's already full of nice features (missing ones have been added like links like you mentioned), plus it's Apple so if something new will come out we will see it implemented and we can be sure about that (not having to worry about potentially seeing the product shut down and having to migrate to something else) - these days all I'm looking for is products that do the job, shiny and ultra-customizable things annoy me (last thing we need is to spend more time in front of screens to do things that matter zero) - there's only one catch: I'm now using a pc, not macbook, for work... not being able to have the full Apple Notes experience there bothers me, but instead of using other tools like Notion or Obsidian, I prefer to just write .txt files and sync them up with OneDrive, so I can access them on the Apple devices too (if we didn't have Apple Notes, I would 100% go this route only)
