true, one of the reasons for yellow water is wood log. I have two 65gal fish tanks with generations of Texas Cichlids that keep having babies. Large gravel floor and flat rocks sitting on round stones for multiple shelter. I have yellow water. I have plants (spathiphyllum) permanently growing in the over the tank filters which have become large and flower all the time. the tanks are overloaded but I will not give away my smart and happy fish. Yes a water change would fix the yellow water but I would rather not stress the fish. I have not had a major water change in many years. I just vacuumed the 1/2in gravel floor every couple of weeks or so and add the filtered water back in and top off with rain water. importantly, my water intakes for my main filters and circulation pumps have intake cups filled with easily washable filter medium (pillow stuffers). the light K factor also has a lot with how the water is viewed.

Mine is cloudy and slightly yellow and there isn't even anything in it yet. I think it's because I had a drift wood piece I bought from Petco in there, they said discoloration is normal at first with the log on the packaging and to rinse it thoroughly before use, I did that, but I'm worried I screwed up the water for good by putting the piece of wood it, and I'm getting an African Clawed Frog soon, and I don't know if I can afford to change the water completely as of the current moment. I want to make sure the environment perfect for my froglet I'm going to be getting soon. Unless, well, I used 7 Gallons out of 10 I bought, so could I just drain 3 gallons and put in the last 3? But then when the water starts to evaporate, I'll need to get more bottles of Spring Water anyway.

Most any problem with water can be solved with a water change. the question is do you know a solution for yellow water (without a water change)?

Okay , I have yellow foam on top of my water and cannot get rid of it with water change. Can’t find any comparable video on KZbin… my water is cloudy as heck and yellow/ brown also …… But , no drift wood, just fake plants and last week I bought two piecostomus’ thinking they might help my goldfish but nothing yet.
