It helps to set chalky type drawings like pastel and charcoal. Those mediums transfer easily and smudge. The hairspray helps keep it from moving around and transfering. Just a light, steady mist doesn't hurt the painting. It would be ruined without it.

Klaire, if you ever get charcoal or paint or anything on the floor, try to get as much up as you can with a damp rag. Then, take a small glass of water and pour a teaspoon or two of salt into it. Let the salt dissolve then pour the smallest amount on the stain until it is cover with the water mixture. then start to scrub it away. It works magically. I use it every time I get anything in the carpet.:)

And just for the record, I'm sure a good number of your subscribers wouldn't mind if you did more art videos, along with your makeup and DIY videos! Not like an additional series to your channel, but something you do when you've got time and feel like it. Things like speed-drawing or just a walk-through of how you draw faces/hands/proportions/etc. It'll be really interesting for those of us who want to get more into art!

When you oil paint there is a method called allaprema. (Most likely spelled wrong) but it is where you paint each color rather then layering. It works well if your trying to finish something fast. Hope this helps.

I wish you would do some art 101 tutorials. I've recently been given an art set and have no idea how to use or what to do with half of it, like charcoal or pastels. I love your studio. I'm working in mine, I have lots of materials but I don't have much space! I'd recommend you to buy Liquin by W&N for your oil paintings. I heard you don't get along with oils because they don't dry as fast as acrylics. Using Liquin will make oils to dry within 2 hours more or less (it depends on the weather and temperature). I hope my recommendation helps you. Oh btw, I really envy how cheap are watercolour's pans there. It's like only $28 Argentinian pesos. Here they cost about $200 AP (around $20 dollars) . If I traveled to England, I'd buy everything I can.

when our school moved into a new building I helped to move the art supplies and they looked almost into everry single bottle of paint to see if it's dried up. They took everything with them, except for some very small and old graphite pencils or just too old and ruined paints and such. Though I would have found it great to grab some of the stuff ;P

The idea with charcoal is to concentrate on the suggestion of a shape or a movement rather than trying to draw controlled detail, you need to give in to a bit of randomness. Hope that helps :D
