My Audio Solution for the ATEM Mini Switcher

Hi Bill, Great content. I feel your pain on microphones. For the most part they need to be closeup, especially in environments that are not "microphone friendly". I did break down and get a mic stand a while back. It lets me put a mic over my head just out of the camera frame. On movie sets, they often have guys with boom poles with microphones on the end. They also hide microphones on the sets in plants, behind pillows, etc. All this in addition to the microphones that they have hooked up to the talent.

Art Johnson - thanks. Yes when I recorded in my basement “studio” I could hang a mic over my head easily because of the exposed rafters and, I suppose, I could rig something up at my art desk, but I’ve gotten so used to using a lav that that is usually my go-to. The audio in this video is way better than in last week’s!

Bill, with the update, I found the delay to be quite accurate in FPS.... not sure what’s the issue for you :-( Couple of questions.... can you plug the Lav right into the mic1 on the ATEM, and NOT use the wireless system? Does that make a difference? I’d encourage you to see if you can get good audio into the mic1 of the ATEM... reason being the processing in terms of the low cut, high cuts, and the 4 band parametric eq, the compressor and gate... they all REALLY help polish your audio.... if the built in delay still won’t work, you could also look at the Behringer Shark fqb110. It’s a cheap preamp, WITH an audio delay built in... you can pass audio from your Lav, the the fab 110, delay, into the ATEM... then access the audio processing. Anyway, just thought I’d share. The high and low cut ability alone will help with the “room” sound.... cheers.
