Hey everyone! Back in my own Scrap Mechanic Survival world again and today I decided to finally improve my mining situation and build a drill tank! It turned out pretty awesome, it has proper tank drive, it's efficient on batteries and fuel, it mines quite well, and it has some really cool features! put drill heads to spin via a controller - most effective method. And make a proper tank steering, via 4 engines. You can try to switch to rotation on spot via suspension glitch.

Having collectors on the machine makes it harder to drill for some reason. So having collectors on another vehicle makes it better most of the time

Hey, try to put all the drills on the controller, they are more stable and then no fuel consumption.

Lag is probably due to the sliding wedges on the sides, let's call them subgrids. They weigh a fair bit so they're likely sagging and causing collision You could try making pistons vertical so they rise upwards instead

Maybe the only thing you could do is to put a piston in the center bearing of the drill support, and to save fuel, use a level 5 controller for the drills, you could do the tanks steering better,, but I mean, it does what you need so it´s up to you. Nice vehicle!

Two suggestions. Max level controller for the drills, should give plenty of speed for the drills to work without eating through gas. Suggestion number two; bringing the drills in closer to each other, they shouldn't cause any issues with collision due to the lack of friction on drills. Good luck

Nice vehicle. Perfect colours too! Thoughts are with you dude. Something that should help with the drilling, stop the full rotation. Just keep the drill bits rotating you will likely find it works better! I had a similar vehicle and found keeping the drill bits in one place helped 👍

Love the colour scheme for multiple reasons. Full respect for the flag colours. My football club, Everton, often has that scheme for their away shirts and it's just always been how I often paint/design in-game creations over the years.

Scrap mechanic doesn't have constant mining. Therefore the more complex the vehicle, the slower the mining. Resource collectors on the same vehicles are bad for that. But the vehicle already seems fine. Spin the drills with a controller for maximum efficiency.

Hook up the drills to the controller, that rotates the center point. A lv5 controller is perfect for mining without consumption. The mining-tank is nice ^^ I´d like to see you build some kind of realistic logging vehicle, whatever that turns out to be ^^ Also, you could improve your transport trailer to a trailer to haul your mining tank behind your truck ^^

The tank looks great and I love how it looks. The only improvement I will say is adding a piston set to fully extend with a block and four headlight (painted white and set to ten) pointing in all four directions somewhere on the top of your vehical. If you want further ideas you can look up my miner on the workshop, it dosen't look very good but it is effective at doing almost everything including killing frambots. There are some differences in how things work in survival mode vs creative mode, so keep that in mind. Great video as always.

0:45 I also took apart my 2 biggest vehicles to build other ideas 👍🔧🛠🛠 the helicopter dont fly without a redesign, and the mobile crane lags and spaghettifies. I am gong to build it bigger and strenghten it to avoid spaghettification, and make a safe parking ground awayfrom the base to reduce lag.

mining tank is cool! might have to reference your logic later. my only suggestion would be to rework the driller head "and make a logging head" so that each head contains the controlers and buttons needed to run the machine so all you need to do is weld it up and connect the buttons you know. like a quick attach loader bucket.

My only valuable contribution is to make sure the drills are spinning with not against the rotation of the arm, kAN's planetary gear system is a nice example why. And you can save gas using controllers to spin drills, but gas is unlimited now, unlike embers or wood.

I have a suspicion that your toilet isn't welded to the ground. It highlighted when you had your lift over it at 1:23. Doubt it's the cause of the lag though.

Make the rear wheels height adjustable. Lowered to be flush with the rest for travel, raised back how it is now for work and rough terrain.

Hey, I noticed that you keep wheelieing every time you hit the throttle. You should lower the set of wheels at the back so it acts as a wheelie bar. I think that should solve the issue and make you mining tank more manoeuvrable!

Interesting driving mechanics for me I would have forward and backwards on 2 buttons and left, right would use 2 sensors hooked up to logic gates the sensors would detect the position of an internally steered block

To minimize fuel usage make the wheels have less resistance. If you’d have a flat surface and a car with little to no resistance for the wheels you’d be able to basically drive forever.

For the central spinning controller set it to 90° and oscillating. This should prevent you from being thrown to the left. You would need to setup an small circuit with a timer but shouldn't bee too hard.

Idk if you remember, but during your Co-Op with Kan a while back, Kan figured out that when the resource collectors are on the same vehicle that is doing the mining, it has an affect on the drills ability to well.... drill. Weird bug for sure!

HI @KOSMONAUT .Oops not shouting.. Don't know what gas engine level is but level 5 engine should hardly use any fuel. Also controller power is MUCH better as the speed and connection abilities of a level 5 controller is "Perfect" for your driller. And, of course, free to run. Could you fit 2x Horizontal saw blades on the back which meet in the centre this could mine trees too. Just have a setting to angle the blades to almost touch the ground for the 2nd stage of the wood cuts around 30-45 degrees, then you just drive over the felled tree / log. Works well plus its bot defence at the rear. A couple of vacuum pumps about 6 blocks off the ground attached to that rear container makes for an excellent "Idle Guys" collector for run over robot parts, corn and paint flower pickup. (A Literal Multi Harvester) Just an idea or 2. Ttfn

Can you build a tractor that is one of John deers models and then multiple different attachments that could be used for farming or just carrying heavy loads of blocks and it could carry a lot of crates if built right and bring it to the farmer.

Nice solution, but it is too bumpy for my taste. So I would change it, so that is stops going up and down all the time. Perhaps the shield behind the drills able to lift, when you go backwards over some sstone (yeah I know the lag is coming).

I know how you Can make the stearing and driving with out any buttons, use the seats stearing in to a stick that is covering sencores that do the same as the buttons, a motor on the slowest for 2 sencores that make it go back and forward

You should make a log mining vehicle with a refefinery and a refine not And then add a full row of saw blades so it like a cylinder it works well I used 10 saws use pistons and controller for up and down

I want to give this game a shot. I have played Trailmakers for the past 6 months and LOVE the creation aspect of it. I've cleared the campaign 7 times (I LOVE the campaign). Recently I have created a few videos of my creations to show my friends. They have stated that this game does a few things better than Trailmakers. Scrap Mechanic Pros: Programming Logic More complex design availability True single player survival mode Enemies (Though I still enjoy running over the chickens in TM) Cons: Flying Underwater exploration Better physics Destruction I may have some misconceptions about Scrap Mechanic so PLEASE let me know if I'm wrong. I will be buying the game next week and giving it a shot while trying to keep my expectations low so I will give the game a fair shot and not just go back to Trailmakers because it is familiar. love the build looks great, i'm gonna be honnest. i love how you build things but you can mine faster much faster i have a few videos of that myself, mining vehicle are to complex and to big (mine has no porblem at all with hills etc). The reason why they are not drilling when the drills are touching is because of the collectors and refiners on the vehicle (just try and remove them for a second and you'll see a big differents of the bat)

The combo of bobcat for mining and the brick with collectors from the coop series works like that and is similar to the setup im using and it chews through rock faster than any other overengineered wonder ive built
