Finally a woman making a video on a get-home-bag! I´m so glad there are women who think about this topic. I thought I was the only one, lol. Anyways, this is the best get home bag that I´ve seen so far. I don´t know if it is because I think in the same way as you or if there´s anything else to it; however, I LOVE your bag. It´s very practical, contains everything that I would put in it and it´s not a backpack. That´s important for me, too. Because classical backpacks are of no use for me. I need something smaller, something like your bag. So thumbs up, I like your bag, I like your video. Well done. Have a nice day.

some comments about your items : 💲💲 Looking at all your items...that BOB is worth a 1000 dollars or more, if you bought the items seperately. 💲💲 💗 Loving your space saving , super organizational skills..Wow !! 💗 I agree, at our elderly ages, taking a hike and getting back indoors is way better than roughing it outside for a week....the lone wolf prepper outdoors, is for the younge folk. 0:55 ....those laminated cards are BRILLIANT !! 1:49 ....I have a map of my area and locations of my caches (written in code, so if i loose it, others won't figure it out) ...........do you have a laminated maps , as well ? 7:12 ....those mainstay Energy bars...are definitely only for starving preppers..LOL 9:33 ...that Spork is short handled...I like the long handled ones for rehydrated meals. 12:21 ...Putting an elastic band or small ziptie on the lighter trigger, is good to prevent leakage. *Q* ....How long did it take to get all these items for your BOB?

Many of us would live to have bags like these, but yes, to make up one all at once, they are quite expensive. I love this kind of stuff and tend to be a kind of pack rat, so I would first go through all of what I think is "cool stuff" I have and see what I could put to use in one of these bags, because, I am one of those out of sight, out of mind kind of people. I have "cool stuff" that I have forgotten I have!! lol I very much enjoy your videos. I am amazed about how very well thought out your videos are and I am surprised. You are not who I would have picked out in a line-up to be this kind of gal! : )

Potpourri that printout is a great idea! Love that patch on your fire kit, where'd you get it? Have you considered transferring to a backpack? 16lbs is a lot in a sling bag. I think you'd carry that weight more comfortably in a backpack. Also, consider changing to a metal water bottle, so you'd be able to boil water if you had to. Great pack!

Great pack with some ideas I haven't seen in other similar type of bag. The idea of hiding a wad of cash inside a custom made roll of duct tape is as simple as it is brilliant! Every prepper has those roll of duct tapes so it won't get any attention if somebody search your bag for money.

Great video. A very well organized and thought out kit. My only thought is you mentioned you only have 12 miles to travel to get from work to home. I don't know what kind of terrain or atmosphere you will have to traverse but this looks a little overboard for that short of a trip. You are talking a day hike if that. You could lighten your load by removing a lot of items not needed. You have snack bars so why do you need a cook stove, kit and food? You will need to get home fast so you won't be stopping to fish. Is there even a lake or stream close by? This pack would be a GREAT car bag for just traveling around town or short trips. I would suggest a smaller pack for a GHB from work. I just made a video on mine and I use a fanny pack. K.I.S.S. should be your motto for any survival packs. Not that I use that term because I'm a pack rat and I tend to over pack myself. Thanks for sharing.
@PrepperPotpourri
@PrepperPotpourri 9 жыл бұрын
+WA RedBear Very true. My EDC kit would actually be enough for the hike home. However, what if something happened on my way home from visiting my daughter (75 miles away) or returning from my brother's cabin (120 miles away), etc.? You just never know. I will check out your new video.
@waredbear
@waredbear 9 жыл бұрын
+Prepper Potpourri I stated this is a great bag in your car for, as you mentioned, trips to your daughter. I would probably want a bigger bag to go to your brothers. I currently have three bags. The small EDC or get home from work is a fanny pack. I have a larger bag I show in that video that I used to carry when I was 2 hours from home. I have an even bigger bag (see video) that is a BOB or a bag designed to last a longer time. I carry all three if I leave town for an extended time or now if I go over a pass. You never know. My wife gets on to me for carrying so much and not having room for our luggage. Oh well. She might thank me one day. Again a good bag and video. Thanks for sharing.

Great video but the bag seams a bit exaggerated for a GHB if you only got 12 miles to your home? Dont get me wrong i really enjoyed the video. Im putting together a GHB or more of a Get to safety bag. What do you think of my bag? I have included: OD Messenger bag Ultralight tarp (about 10oz) Ultralight (14oz) and warm sleeping bag (3 season bag) Ultralight (11oz) sleeping mat Ultralight (14oz) gas stove, Primus Eta Express incl gas and pot. Lighter and Firesteel 4 bags of freeze dried food plus 2 liters of water Headlamp and handheald lamp Aspirin and first aid Victorinox Spirit multi tool Microtech Halo V automatic knife (for defence and as a tool) All in all its about 8 pounds heavy and all the stuf is extremley small packed to save space and is also extremley light but it did cost me a bit of $$$ Once again dont get me wrong i really enjoyed the video and you made me add aspirin :)

Jakelol1980 I keep the GHB in my car most of the time. It would also be helpful if I had problems while visiting my daughter (75 miles away) for instance. Your ultralight additions are great. Do you also use them for camping? i would love a bag weighing only 8lbs. Mine weighs 15 lbs.
@Jakelol1980
@Jakelol1980 9 жыл бұрын
Prepper Potpourri I see 75 miles that explains why. Yes the Ultralight stuff is great and i do also use them for camping and they are great. The bag is a Western Mountaineering Highlite (go check it out its great but pricey) and the sleeping mat is a Thermarest NeoAir Trekker regular (also great but a bit pricey).I just love Ultralight stuff because you can walk for so much longer without being tired becuase of lack of weight ;)Before i put together a one week camping bag and that one only weight 20 pounds and that was with food for one week :PUltralight is the way to go but its expensive :(

Love 'em, highly recommend them for washing down the body and/or cleaning the ol' bum...They are light weight and can carry many without taking up much space or adding a lot of weight.

late viewing.... 12 miles, most people can average 3 miles per hour walking.... time of day, terrain, weather, temperature can all have affect on you get home plans. Therefore would recommend planning a 24 hour bag broken into 3 sections of 1-3 hours, 4-12 hours, 12-24 hours. what would you need to cover each time frame.... first and foremost if planning on walking near or by roads is a light weight safety vest (joggers vest) day or night want to be seen not be a victim of an accident. If injuries prevent walking the vest may help in locating you if lying in heavy cover. Additional clothing of hat (type depends on season for shade or warmth), leather or mechanic gloves, sunglasses (sun off snow in winter or sun glare). I would add zip ties to close loose fitting clothes (pant legs) from various elements and bugs (ticks) walking in high grass as well as fasten items. believe hydrogen prox is sensitive to light, reducing effectness, may want to put in a dark bottle or put electric tape around clear bottle. very good ideals, especially liked bag identify markers, if needing help someone using your bag could easily find items needed to assist.

+Yogi Lilly The safety vest is a good idea. I really get irritated when I see someone dressed completely in dark colors walking along side a road at night.

Good video....but....too many people attempt to keep too much stuff with them all the time. You, I feel, have more than needed (of course I have no idea where you live or what type terrain you have to travel in - I am 20-25 miles through urban-suburban environment work to home and have 1/2 what you do and feel I have too much), but at least you have right mindset keeping small, close to body waist belt, and the items you did over do, I think, on are all usable and small. Things change, seasons, options, goals, etc., and most people spend 85% of their waking lives at the same place (work) and main priority should be get home FIRST....heck you may find situation demands bugging IN and not OUT....so why keep long term survival gear bag with cooking gear, snares, fishing gear, etc (really? in emergency you are going to waste a full day fishing, to catch what...bait and then clean, cook and eat it on a stove heated by what amounts to a candle when you could have been home in that time?). A fanny pack is excellent idea....I employ a web-belt load bearing assembly with shoulder straps because if bugging out when I get home, I can leave belt on and just grab backpack....everything in 3 6x4x2 pouches around waist so it can be covered discretely with light jacket or certainly heavy jacket and out of scrutiny.....same theory for your fanny pack. All one needs is basics to last 24 hours with one goal...don't stop until reach destination...HOME where REAL gear is. Power bars, jerky or trail mix and water with good filter straw will keep you going well over 72 hours and if you are not home by then....well hopefully you chose a gun and not pepper spray because it is now bad enough you may have to fight for survival. If water is in heat-able metal bottle all the better as coffee, tea, powdered soup can be comforting and heated with makeshift fire so stoves and cooking gear just confuses me. Here is all you need. Choice of defense (me, handgun w/ ammo, to each their own), knife (1 fixed, 1 folding), multi-tool, lighter/matches/spark (keep 2 kinds fire and wet tinder or petroleum jelly infused dryer lint), candle or light stick, 1 liter water in metal bottle, filter straw, power bars jerky (personal choice), flashlight (preferably hands free), cordage, bandana, hat, gloves, poncho, small medical kit, roll quarters and cash, small radio w/ ear buds (I prefer HH HAMM so access to NOAA, radio stations, eavesdrop conversations and call out - Baofeng on ebay 50.00), but they make solar/crank AM/FM/NOAA radio that is about 3" square (I have one) that is also good...just no ability call out on it. Cell phone, batteries for any gear that needs them as back up. I also have a small solar charger that is 6x8 inches unfolded and half that zippered closed that can be worn on back while walking, note pad & pencil. (that is all) I have this all on web belt at half the weight of yours that I keep in my truck with hiking boots w/ spare sox and jacket that changes with seasons - 24/7 and exact same set up (gun rotates) in a canvas messenger bag in my motorcycle saddle bags....and it is just over 8 lbs. Ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain....and you KNOW chances high you will be required to RUN at some point. Your video is good comparably, I see these videos that make me wonder what drugs people are on to think of all the "stuff/junk" they feel they need (usually men - so cool to see woman with more brains than most men....yeah, I know that is prolly rule and not exception =o). Goal is look as lost and confused and unprepared as everyone else....look like commando on recon and you will draw nothing but trouble.

Jeff Swartout I agree. I would wear my EDC vest and lighten my bag to only essentials if it was a long hike. Often I have others in my car and I would probably share the load.
