Have you considered getting the standard Blackmagic Ursa Mini side handle? I think it would mount to the rosette (although yours would be farther forward), and you would get a record button, iris control, and I think there's one other button on it

Nice camera rig! The monitor problem was probably caused by the low temperature. I was curious and here's some info from a quick Google search on what happens to LCDs in cold temperatures "To understand what happens to the LCD in cold temperatures, we'll need to go back to the basics of LCD technology. Liquid crystal displays are just like their name suggests... they contain a liquid that is housed between two layers of glass. Liquids begin to freeze as the temperature drops. As the liquid in the display freezes the response time slows down. In other words, it takes longer for the numbers and letters on the display to change (Turn ON or Turn OFF)."

I have the ghosting problem too in cold situations. Key is to let your G2 get used to it and do the "Calibrate sensor" through the menu. Or it can help if you switch between the raw/prores option a few times. Nice setup!

@@ZachMayfield would love to see some side to side comparison with red. also, is it possible handheld for long time like a simply riged red camera? Because it is looks way bigger than a red. I use to carry a scarlet w with very basic set up, the formfactor is very handheld friendly. But the G2 just really doesn't seems like one that fit rng style. I also consider to purchase a canon c300 mkiii, which still seems more friendly handheld. If the ursa mini pro g2 is 20% shorter, then it's a no brainer, I will direct put 2 orders instantly. Also, someone mentioned, that the bmd camera is,not quite looking as "cinematic" as red/arri under your comment section. I didn't use bmd camera before, would love to know what's the reason makes this camera looks more video instant of film. Thanks

Hey, I own the G2 too, and definitely like it, but I am wondering what it is, that a Red or Arri gives a more filmic image right off the bat?! Is it the sharpness, the weak Olpf or what? :/ Unfortunately I dont have the direct comparison. Maybe you have as youve worked a lot with other cameras.

Zach Mayfield 4 months later and I’m seeing this comment. My bad. Rewatching your video 😂 I’m loving my Canon life, but have a few limitations. Namely, external recording to SSDs isn’t an option and limited recording times of 30 minutes and no option to ac power my cameras for longer shoots. Not to mention the humongous mjpeg files. Initially invested in canon for its hybrid photography/videography prowess. Now I’m looking for a dedicated cinema camera. Preordered the R5, but canceled it. Now I’m back to researching. 🤦🏾♂️ Sorry for the lack of brevity.
