With the playmaker you could swap booming hits with discplined iq and it gets you 50 more points to use

Pretty sure it still evens out the same. Regardless, defense hasn't been a problem for the build.

One difference in my builds. My puck control is higher. I think puck control might be the most important trait in the power section. I like snappy over close qtrs, and I put silver big tipper on my PLY C

The builds won't be identical. One build won't work for all. The traits are tailored towards what I do and use the most. Puck control refers to handling pucks from passes and settling it down for a shot. I haven't seen a problem with it being mid to high 80s for me but is there something specific you think is why it's a very important attribute?

close quaters or make it snappy silver for the winger? pro and cons ?

That's up to you. Some high level players use both. Close quarters is for any forehand shot up close. From the hashmarks to the net. Make it snappy is any snap shot taken from anywhere. Can't pull the puck on your forehand before shooting with make it snappy. Has to come from no stick handle. Some one tee shots can activate both traits. As long as it's not a full wind-up. I'd say try out both and see how it feels.

What do you mean but extra stick length by being 6’1? Do different heights have different stick lengths and what does that do?

@tamastopos1279 6'1 is the tallest you can make a build like the PLY and PMD. The conversation is for TWF being same speed but 5'9 so the stick length is shorter because the build is smaller. Many people aren't comfortable with being that short as they're used to being 6'1 for poke checks and puck grabs etc. It benefits being taller.

Like the Playmaker build, however, if you use Disciplined IQ rather than Booming hits you have more points available (def awareness is more costly than body checking.

I find it interesting that you don't run any acceleration boosts on any of your builds, I'm very new to LG and 6s in general so maybe I will learn to play without it but atm I almost value accel higher than speed as a dman.

@yann1124 Preference for me. I don't find it to have much of an extra kick if any. Rather add 4 more points into either offensive or defensive awareness.

Hey man big fan, been following your videos for a few months now since I got into nhl chel (first year actually grinding EA NHL) Do you have a “how to one tee effectively” video? I’m having trouble getting the timing/buttons down and when I see opponents that can do it off a face off while my guy does a reverse deke to air or has a weird hitch and barely gets any juice on the shot. Thanks!

I can do a video on it. Might take me some time to get it done. Quick tips are ensuring your player faces forward or slightly turned towards the puck. Do that by tapping L2/LT and get the movement down with this button. While holding LT, hold up on your right stick. This readies your player to shoot automatically for a one tee without having to time it. You need to press LT first before holding up on right stick so you don't shove with your arms in mid air. Go to open practice with one teammate and practice one tees to get the muscle memory down.

The best builds are subjective to everyone. Not everyone wants my exact builds and switch things around. The only changes I'd make to include banned traits are switching out one tee on the center build for big tipper and shutdown on the defense build for truculence.

It's not meta. Even if it can work. The speed is slower than maxed out builds and it will show.

No it's close to never. Maybe once every few games. Injuries have been toned down this year.

Are you high enough level? It's best to reach level 50 so everything is unlocked.

I think if they made bigger builds a bit quicker and penalized people for having low defense this game wouldn’t be ran by 5’9 builds

Then the game would be ran by bigger builds because that would be the meta. There needs to be a clear advantage to playing both. Smaller players being faster and quicker, while bigger players being strong and powerful. The reason small builds are meta is because of their speed and hitting power on a bigger player, making big players useless.

@@HackAttack34 I agree for sure that’s what I mean like all these 5’9-6’0 builds still have crazy stick checking and hits when none of their stats are above a 80 lol, but I don’t think the gap between 90 speed and 86-87 should be as big as it is IMO

@Yamommasblubber Everyone that goes small has 94-95 speed. The fastest you can be with a power forward now is 92. So the difference in what's seen may not be as far off as we think. I usually play 6s so I never really see big players on the ice from good teams. That's because elite edges zone is an op trait everyone goes with. In 3s, that could be a different story. If hitting and defense become nearly impossible for smaller players, you might see a switch. Something to look out for in NHL 25.

Hybrid or butterfly is what everyone’s going with this year (normally hybrid because of better attributes) and butterfly effect as the zone ability, with light work and no timer as the silvers (no timer can be switched out with tip jar or sponge in my opinion) and you want to focus on high recovery and agility

It can give you some good ex for about 20-30 levels. Not bad to run through if just starting out.
