Iam so sorry to hear of your friend death .iam really disgusted that your friend had to suffer and there wasn't any one from the forces to get to these young men before they leave because of what they had gone through in the wars .but please please don't blame yourself there wasn't anything you could have done .it's the professional people who should have helped him .he was to far gone in his mind and I know how your a family a team you have each others back my dad was in the Coldstream Guards 💂♀️ and my Husband was in the Royal Artillery so I know about the stiff upper lip and because your a man you keep everything to yourself even more so being in the forces .I thank you so much for your courage and what you are doing to raise money for such a worthy cause 👏 good luck my friend

I don't know if you remember me Jim but we were in Afghan together. I wasn't aware about this and I am truly sorry for your loss. I only ever remember him as an incredible soldier and immensely calm under pressure and funny to boot. As for your own struggles, it struck a chord with me and from speaking with numerous other lads on the same tour, they reflect the exact same feelings. Let me know if you ever feel the need to talk about it.

You can’t change the past man, remember the happiest times you had with him and use his presence in your life for good going forward. Never quit.

Much respect to you and your buddy 🇬🇧. PTSD/CPTSD isn't a joke, you don't need to go through war to get it. It's a real thing.

You’re not alone. I’m 10 yrs into various therapy on trying to remove that thorn of “what if” and nearly 20 years since the events in Iraq that caused it. It’s a long road with many downs but hold onto the ups - they’ll pull you through.

You did what you could mate and at times friends and families struggle to make the connection with their loved one at that difficult time. The isolation people with MH issues sometimes place themselves in is difficult to penetrate . You did the best you could in the circumstances

Had a similar situation with a friend. Always know I could have done more looking back on it. He wouldn't blame me so neither will I, he would thank me for my friendship and I appreciate his and wish he was still around I'd give him a hug. Your a good man full of companion and you will bless others with your kindness through your life. Make it up that way 😊

Well said. I lost an oppo way back in 1992. A top bloke. Different to your experience there were no apparent signals; no indications; and I like to think I'm switched on to the welfare of those close to me. I still ask myself if there was anything I could have done to help and prevent him from checking out. Honest answer... probably not.

My right foot started to hurt from the idea of fifteen miles with that thing on your back and I can relate real well with blowing up on people I don’t even know 😂 I got knocked out on my property because I flipped on a dude for being on my property with his dog off the leash. I said get the fuck off dude didn’t even say anything he just knocked me out 😂 so now I don’t run I just lift weights.

Thank you for sharing your story. I feel for your friend but I can't help worrying about you. You are carrying a lot of pain that takes many forms (shame, remorse, anger, numbness etc) and I think you should get some help in order for you clarify and lighten your burden. Unprocessed feelings get heavier with time and can lead to depression episodes.
