I collected all my best macro tips (mostly geared towards beginners) that I have collected over the past 4 years, into this video lecture/presentation. I show you all the different options for macro lenses (ranging from $5 to $1000), what other equipment you need, how to get good shots of insects, how to do focus stacking, and many more things.

Is it a defuser or a concentrator then ? It certainly is a light modifier... But does it defuse ? Asking honestly.

Hi Micael, I'm glad I found your channel. Thanks for all of the free info that you provide. I have a Canon 6D + 24-105mm f4 lens. I want to be able to get some 1:1 24mm wide angle macro shots with this lens. Would a Reverse Ring or Extension Tubes be the best option ? Thanks for your help. Darren.

Would you find that a small softbox works as a field diffuser, or are they better for studio work? Great video! I'm just starting using extension tubes and I'm really enjoying this type of photography.

Hi Micael, I hope you see this and can help me with a question I have. I have a Sony a7iii and a Sigma 150mm 2.8 macro (the one without OS) adapted with a sigma mc-11. Since I don't have a flash yet, I definitely want to purchase one and wanted to ask if you would recommand any that you used, the godox tt685s or meike 320? Later I would maybe like to get a laowa lens with less focal length, I saw you recommand the 60mm a lot, so might be a good bet to get that one on a later point. Thanks a lot for your videos and photos on insta, really love them!

Thank you for this very informative video.. i just want to ask because i am planning to buy a 100mm laowa for canon. However, my camera is a fuji xt200. Will the adaptor for EF to FX affect the image wuality of the lens especially the sharpness? I wanted the 100mm EF so that it wont be hard if i switch to sony. Thank you for the reply..

Great video Micael! I'm learning a lot in your youtube channel, I shoot macro since one year ago but now, since i discovered your channel i'm improving a lot :) One question if you don't mind, currently I have a Nikon D7200 and i'm considering to get a Nikon Z50 to try a mirrorless camera and use it as a travel and hiking gear, have you tried it? Kind regards
@chinmayeed
@chinmayeed 4 жыл бұрын
Jordi Oltra benavent - hope you don’t mind as I am chipping in to respond you to the best of my ability. My kind suggestion will be to stick to Nikon D7200 it’s a great camera. I sold my D7100 and got Z50. It’s also good but EVF lag annoys a bit for moving subjects as it does for most of the mirror less cameras. I do bird photography as a hobby and birds in flight keeper rate a very low. The D7200/D7100 are DSLRs and don’t have such issues. The mirror less system have their own advantages, you may read plenty over net. Z50 for macro will produce same results that of your D7200. So you may wish to save your money for good quality lenses. Micael also mentions that for Macro get any decent DSLR or Mirrorless. Hope this helps. Stay safe & healthy :: Rahul Deshpande

@@chinmayeed Hi Rahul! Nevermind, I appreciate your answer a lot. Thanks for sharing your experience. I do mostly bird photography too :) and your comments about the focusing rate in birds in flight are very useful, I read something in reviews but nothing from a bird photographer directly, I was considering to buy a Z50 mostly as a lightweight gear to travel and hiking and over time sell my D7200 but now I'm going to consider to keep both cameras one for bird photography and the other for travel. I have all the lens I need at this time. Thanks again for your answer! Stay Safe

Micael, can you use an extender with a macro lens?
@MicaelWidell
@MicaelWidell 4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean a teleconverter? Yes you can, for example you can use Sigma's 2x or 1.4x converter with their 150mm macro lens to increase focal length. But you need to check if your lens can handle it.

Does it make sense for macro photography to choose a camera with a smaller number of megapixels on the matrix in order to reduce diffraction with a heavily covered aperture, or is diffraction completely independent of the number of megapixels?
@MicaelWidell
@MicaelWidell Жыл бұрын
Imagine diffraction as putting a very slightly blurry filter in front of your lens. Diffraction does not care what sensor your have. It will always be the same no matter the sensor. You will notice it earlier the higher resolution your camera has, but it’s maybe not reason to buy a lower megapixel camera.
