I loved your awards show format. It was a refreshing change from other year end sewing recaps I have watched. Keep up the terrific content. Watching the news regarding the snowfall in Spain, I found myself wishing I could see it from your perspective.

Thank you! It was fun to do. There has been no snow where we are, but poor Madrid is having a terrible time. They just don’t have the resources to deal with so much of the white stuff.

Great idea to do an awards show! I really enjoyed watching and especially appreciated seeing the fails, because fails are what stop me from sewing for months on end. However, when I see that others have fails, but bounce back and carry on sewing anyway, I know I should do the same. 😉 What a great year of sewing you had!

I had a hoodie dress cut out for maybe 2 years, just sat down and sewed it. It not together fast and easy enough to make me feel silly for dragging my feet. Loved this version of “what I sewed this year”. I think taking a good look at makes and figuring out what you liked and didn’t like and why goes a long way towards clothes that will actually get worn. Also your last comment about figuring out your style and what you want to make is so true. There seem to be patterns that everyone sews but is it because it’s something they really like and wear or is it because it’s the “trendy” pattern of the moment.
@Lisamakes4 жыл бұрын
Too true. That’s how trends go, right? It’s good to step back and decide if they’re really for you.

Loved the awards show! I am wondering if you can do a video on how to squeeze a pattern onto less fabric- as you are so great at it! Also I had a couple of ideas for 2 of your fails- can you turn the loser pants into a skirt? and the shorts that became a skirt that is too short- can you add a band to the bottom (I would fold over a piece of fabric and serge it on if I were doing it myself) - sort of like a banded hem, but not cinched in at all. I know sometimes it's good to just let the fails go, but sometimes I like the challenge of saving them! lol
@Lisamakes4 жыл бұрын
Those are great ideas! I’ll try to do a video on that. The pants, I think, are a loss, because I just don’t think the fabric is my style. The shorts I turned into a skirt, I like! They were just a failure as shorts. Other people may think it’s too short, but I’m happy to let my legs get a little sun. ;)

@@heatherjsews Heather, I haven’t made any pants yet, but did want to share a resource with you. Karina from Lifting Pins and Needles did an entire series of sewing basic pants. She addresses the fitting and, if I remember correctly, even goes through the order in which you make the adjustments and how to determine which adjustments are needed. She includes samples (she models them) of the incorrect fit so you really can see what she is talking about. Go to her You Tube channel and check it out.
