Cool video! Personally I'm not into make up, because I'm a man, haha. But I am into Bible reviews, and Biblical conversations (especially theological ones). I would suggest a different chanel, if only for people like myself, who would like to subscribe, but wouldn't watch your makeup tutorials... My favorite translation is the NASB. I like wide margin Bibles, or just plain Bibles. I do have a couple of study Bibles, but most of them are to explain verses, not so much about applying it. The MacArthur Study Bible and the Reformation Study Bible are two of my favorites.

I'm happy you have bibles that you read, and ones that help *you* along your journey. We're very blessed to have them all in English. I don't mean to be snarky, but some of the comments here too much. I ask "version-ist" people to please consider the logic (lack thereof) in adhering to only one English translation of the bible; it's irrational (God gave us our minds) and the support to prove that it's the only sound adaptation is missing. What's truly a stunning miracle to this day is the outlandish agreement between scriptural sources that we have access to and can now confirm; God has absolutely preserved his word through our history. Being hung up on one translation is missing the bigger and more wonderful point entirely. Although there are certainly less savory versions around, most headlining translations are quite accurate and reliable (maybe not the 2011 NIV, it's barely passable, but you KWIM). Anyway, I feel like I needed to say this, and I want to be clear that I say it in love. All the voices can be confusing though, and I'm just not convinced that Jesus intended it to be this way...I think he'd just love for us to read and apply his word.

I’d always recommend learning the KJV type of English because it’s the least changed and most authentic translation. If you have to, the NKJV is my second choice. It’s more modern but still sticks to the KJV feel.

All these English translations are good, there is one important translation you should try and it is the Orthodox Study Bible. It is important because it uses the Septuagint (LXX) as the old testament text and translate from it and not the Masoretic Text or Biblia Hebraica like most of the translations. But be aware that the chapters and verses in Jeremiah, Malachy, and Daniel are not in the same order as the Masoretic Text. Plus it has lots of articles with the Eastern Orthodox theology and also it contains the aocrypha. And its new testament is the nkjv. Other translations I recommend are the nasb, and you should try the Apologetic study bible which is also HCSB, and also the Oxford Annotated Bible with apocrypha (NRSV) (I am planning to get them in the future).

You should check out the ESV if you haven't. Most importantly, it's a great translation that I've gotten a lot out of (it's a more "literal" word for word translation, down the line of the NKJV, but in my opinion both a little more modern and more literal). They also have some of the best designed Bibles out there (from really fancy, high quality stuff, to very decorative editions).

I happened upon your video after watching another one about Bible study. First off great video. When I first started taking my Bible study serious I sort of did the same thing, and starting ending up with about 7 or 8 translations. I do love how it allows you to get multiple different "perspectives" of each passage, but I ended up running into a few problems. For one I found myself bouncing around too often, reading one book over here and another over there. Also, though most people feel that every translation is still the Word of God, there are some key words that can change from one translation to another and it makes in-depth study more difficult if you're using multiple translations. I'm not going to sit here and tell you to stop using multiple translations, even though I only read from one now I still own my others. I'm also not going to even tell you that I think you should read a specific one. I'm just trying to share my experience of using multiple translations like that and the conclusion I came to. I think that it can be helpful for a while, as it gives you multiple "view points" and it is certainly handy to have them around for reference, but I found that in order to really get deep into the word and have serious Bible study, I had to narrow myself down to the one translation that I felt God spoke to me the most strongly and clearly through. So like I said, not a criticism at all, just sharing my opinion with you. Either way it's just nice to see more people from our generation who still love God and His word and take the time to post a video about it. Thank you for this video and enjoy studying your Bibles. :)

Hi Sarah! I just wanted to say I enjoyed watching your video, and seeing your extensive Bible collection. It's always awesome when young people take religion to heart, and truly love the word of God. I love my copies of the Holy Bible as well! I found you through a comment you made on Jaclyn Hill's no makeup video, just so you know how I found you :o) Then I looked at your video list, and saw this one about your Bible collection. I thought that was interesting, a Bible video on a makeup channel, so this was the first of your videos I've watched. You were fun to listen to, well spoken, and well organized. Keep up the good work! I'll go check out one of your makeup videos now.

Kay Arthur :she is a bible teacher. She promoted the "inductive" method of bible study. Markings, symbols, underlinings, color coding ,and brief notes; all together. Sounds complicated but really is not. Learn scripture for your self, and applying it is key. This, you've already figured out.🙂. There are books on this system, and the Inductive Study Bible is available in the ESV or NASB.(I like the NASB). You should try christianbook.com.for great prices. I'm no scholar, but I've done some fair amount of studying. For me, using this method, and different versions helps me keepGod's word fresh. I do stay away from the more liberal versions, though,as I'm more conservative . I found too many versions/translations take words, even whole verses out(putting them in footnotes--if at all) . Many of these are too important to me personally. Also, study notes can be helpful but are someone else's opinion .

miled hayek You base that information on 2 manuscripts that were found in a 5th century monistary by Count VonTishendorf. The fact is that he found them in a trash bin. Those two manuscripts also have other problems. The interesting thing about this is that only people that promote these"changes"--(i.e.:deletions) are the "scholars " that promote "liberal"theology (i.e.: Jesus was not really God.--Mary was not really a Virgin .:etc....) I have found that that many of those scriptures are important to me personally, and my growth as a Christian. I'm not aK.J.V. only, person but do believe in the more conservative translations. I once did a pretty major study into this controversy and compared some 34various translations/versions; most I found were week in doctrine and watered down, not as accurate as many pretend to be. I suggest reading the forward to the J.N.Darby translation (1870's-1880's),and a background check on the translators of a particular version/translation,THEN, check to see what churches are using it. (That is,if you have managed to read through all of this).

From personal and academic experience I didn't like the NLT. I don't know how much you know about textual criticism or how translators get us Bibles in the translation process. I'm assuming that you tended towards it for its study notes. I really like the ESV, KJV and the NASB because of the scholars' translation philosophy (word-for-word literal). I enjoyed the video though. Very helpful for those inquiring about what Bible they wish to get.

Stumbled upon this. I like it. I too use several versions. Are you familiar with the "inductive" study system? My favorite study bibles are Fire Bible( Modern English Version) and an old Lindsel Study Bible(NASB). Normally use NKJV andHolman CSB. Seems to be a trend away from the more liberal translations(NIV andNLT)lately. In my case, different bibles help keep me interested in study. I'm glad I stumbled onto this, even at 3:00 am🙂

My personal belief is that it’s completely okay to have different translations so that you can understand and apply what you read. As long as you’re making sure the Bible you’re reading is accurate and does not have false information or incorrect translation, I think it’s great to find a translation that works for you!

This vid is awesome! I love bible collections, there's nothing as special to own and it's really fun to see what people read out of :) I'm a little shocked honestly at how many comments there are here on which bible or whathaveyou you "should" get. God commands people to go into the world and preach the gospel to all nations, which implies that the language should be fitting to whatever culture. In English we have a near glut of translations and versions to choose from, plus all types of study bibles and different models. It's definitely an advantage. The Bible showdowns are so ridiculous, because we are so beyond blessed to have so many choices in the first place! Plus, a layman's look into translating is sufficient to realize that there are many ways to accurately translate the word into a different language, but also that no translation is perfectly fulfilling to the original Hebrew and Greek. The wisest thing is probably to own multiple translations and compare. But the Holy Spirit is the one who teaches us, and bible translations aren't a huge deal breaker. All the to say; you don't need to get a certain translation, no matter how antiquitious, or listen to man's opinion on the matter (even this comment haha!). People get very outspoken about certain versions, and the noise can be distracting. I'm sure God just wants us to study and take joy in His word :)

+sarahlovesmakeup I watch anything that has to do with our relationship with Christ. There is so much negativity out there so it's nice to be able to get on KZbin and see someone me positive things. Giving your testimony is a great idea. All three of my children went to a Christian school and now only one of them is walking with the Lord. Was there anything about your high school years that prevented you from having q closer relationship at that time? Just trying to get some answers. Posting videos that have anything to do with your walk with Christ would be great. Sometimes people just need to see what it's like to remain a Christ follower when it is so hard to do so nowadays. I'm not so much into videos that have anything to do with makeup but I do watch videos about Bible journaling and planners.

It's nice to have a KJV bible, but it's absolutely not necessary. Its value lies in its historicity as an ancient literal thought translation of the Textus Receptus, but we've got so many better translations in the last 400 years that it's pretty much made the KJV an antique curio. If someone starts telling you that the KJV is the best translation, or it's the only Word of God, or some other crap just ignore them. Serious students of the Word know better.

sarahlovesmakeup I would recommend you to get yourself a Shakir Translation of the Quran and use The Light of the Holy Quran Commentary on it in order to have a better understanding of it. I'm currently reading the Bible and I will encourage my Christian brothers and Sisters to do the same with the Noble Book of the Muslims. But be aware. God says in the Noble Qur'an Surah Aal-e-Imran, Verse 7: He it is Who has revealed the Book to you; some of its verses are decisive, they are the basis of the Book, and others are allegorical; then as for those in whose hearts there is perversity they follow the part of it which is allegorical, seeking to mislead and seeking to give it (their own) interpretation. but none knows its interpretation except Allah, and those who are firmly rooted in knowledge say: We believe in it, it is all from our Lord; and none do mind except those having understanding. (English - Shakir) via iQuran There will be so called Muslims giving the wrong interpretation of the Noble Qur'an. Just as it happens in Christianity with the different translations of the Bible. I would HIGHLY recommend you to finish reading the Quran from the first page to the last. That way you will be able to judge which Religion is upon the Truth. Peace

You need to read from the KJV if you really want the true, divinely preserved, words of God in the English language. It's the ONLY English translation that is a word for word translation from the original languages, of the divinely inspired and preserved words of God, into the English language. It's like your analogy of a math problem, except in math the answer is either 100% correct, or it isn't. Being almost right is still all the way wrong. (Being almost right on the gospel is to be accursed of God, according to Galatians 1.6-9.) The same is true for English Bible translations. All English translations are not correct, they may be easier for you to read, but they also teach subtle, damnable heresies, because their underlying texts, they're translated from, are corrupt and the work of Gnostics. The Gnostics denied the deity of Jesus Christ and His bodily resurrection from the dead. There's plenty of info on the internet, if you google it. So, I'll leave that up to you to do your due diligence concerning the superiority of the KJV over all the other English perversions. However, one great example to leave you with is that in the NIV, they leave out the reference to the bodily resurrection, of Jesus Christ from the dead, in one of the most powerful gospel verses in Scripture, John 3.16. They leave out the word, begotten. Paul tells us that Jesus Christ was begotten from the dead in Acts 13.33, and references it back to Psalm two, KJV. The Jesus of the NIV, according to their translation, never rose from the dead, because they subtly removed the word begotten from John 3.16. It teaches He died for your sins, but denies He rose from the dead. That's Gnosticism! This is NOT the case with the KJV. 1 Cor. 15 says that if Christ be not raised, your faith is in vain, because you have not fully believed in the entire gospel, if the resurrection has been left out. The death alone of Jesus Christ, for all of your sins, can't save you, there has to be the bodily resurrection , or else Jesus just died a martyr's death. To leave out the resurrection of Christ is to eliminate the glory of the gospel. He's not dead, He is RISEN! Amen!!! It is by and through His resurrection from the dead that I am now fully justified before God and clothed in His righteousness, and the power of my resurrected Lord and Saviour can and does live through me. Jesus Christ was delivered unto death for ALL of my offences, and He was raised bodily for my complete justification before God. This is just one of hundreds of examples that can be cited in any of the modern English "Bible" perversions. However, if you're really serious, this should be enough to open your eyes and get you to investigate this on your own, with the Spirit of God's leading. Don't be deceived by the hype of so-called "better manuscripts" and better "scholarship," as these are the same, lying, tactics Satan used against Eve in the garden of Eden, and it's still just as effective today among the simple. Real Christians can spiritually discern the difference, fake Christians can't.

Mark Swinford So I have only one question...or rather a suggestion...look up the definition of begotten on the internet. The definition could TOTALLY lead someone astray who is a new reader of the Bible. I'd say the NIV version saying "one and only" is way better than someone who doesn't KNOW what begotten means is better than reading KJV and looking it up on google (I'm not saying it's a good source by any means...just normal reaction to people these days when they don't know something) and seeing the first definition (bring a child into life by process of reproduction) and taking it as gold. My point is......sometimes it's necessary to have "simpler" translations for those that didn't grow up in church or even for people like me who did and still I need help. I'd say you'd get more out of reading something that helped you along and made you want to study the Bible but reading strictly KJV would make a lot of people turn away. Not knocking you but just wish people would look at it in a different perspective sometimes than trying to say the KJV over all.

Heather Burton Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures. The Scriptures ALONE are your final authority, not the internet, etc... The Scriptures I referenced clearly define what the word begotten means when it refers to Jesus Christ. It means Jesus Christ was bodily raised from the dead, that is the glory of the gospel. Your NIV presents a Gnostic gospel, and a Gnostic Jesus who CANNOT save you. You have an accursed perversion of the gospel in the NIV. Don’t you know that accursed means you’re damned to an even lower hell and eternal punishment for perverting God’s Word? Isn’t there any fear of the Lord in you apostates? Evidently not! I fully explained, from Scripture, the meaning of the word begotten when it’s referring to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. You’re leaning on your own defective understanding, that’s why, “Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures…” I’ll stick with Scripture alone, sweetheart. I did this to get saved and I’ve done this to be conformed to the image of Christ, through the resurrection power of My Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

@@markswinford354 People can use whatever version they feel comfortable with, not everyone likes or understands the KJV, remember your not supposed to be judging those that don't follow your choice

@@denisemanfre9542 If you can't understand and/or dislike the KJV, you're most likely lost. Fakers like you, who deny the authority of the KJV only, and support all the perversions which systematically contradict the KJV, always pervert the gospel. It is because there is no Light in you. They go hand in hand, it never fails. The KJV is plain to all those who are saved, because the Spirit of God illuminates it for us. The KJV is a word-for-word translation of the Word of God from the original Hebrew and Greek into the English language, your perversions are not --- it's that simple. "All the words of my mouth (The KJV is a word-for-word translation of the Word of God) are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge." Proverbs 8.8-9 KJV You're calling God a liar, by saying the KJV can't be understood. You are contradicting God's statement in Proverbs 8.8-9 KJV You are setting yourself up as judge over God's Word, just like your perversions, and modern satanic "scholars" encourage you to do. It can't be understood, or liked, by lost church people playing church. Your heart is not right with God. If you're comfortable with Bible perversions which subtly deny the deity, virgin birth, the precious blood, bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and call Him a liar and teach works righteousness, than that's the Bible for you. However, it's no longer God's Word --- and therefore no longer the true Lord Jesus Christ speaking through it. They are the spirit of antichrist. Contrary to your opinion, I am supposed to judge righteous judgement, and that righteous judgement must be based on the final authority of God's Word. I'm commanded to earnestly contend for the faith, and warn against wolves like you posing as sheep. Stop leaning on your own understanding, and drinking the Kool-Aid of today's false teachers/scholars. Trust God instead, with all your heart, and stop with the lip-service. The final authority is the KJV, not your lost and misguided feelings. You need to repent for perverting the gospel and attacking God's Word, and then get saved according to Scripture! Then you will be able to understand the KJV. The Comforter will then guide you into all truth. What you have right now is truth mixed with error, which equals lies. “For we (born-again Bible believing Christians, KJV only) are not as many (you, your so-called "scholars," and your many perversions), which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.” 2 Corinthians 2.17 KJV God already anticipated your apostate attitude and perversions of His Word, hence the warning given in 2 Corinthians 2.17 KJV It began in the Garden of Eden, and Satan immediately began his attack on the N.T. in the first century in order to keep you lost. It's nothing new, Bethany, our mother Eve was deceived the same way you are deceived. Your comment is completely antagonistic toward God and His promise to preserve every word of His forever. God is not the author of confusion, and confusion is what you have with every other English perversion of the Bible, which subtly deny the deity, virgin birth, the precious blood, bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and call Him a liar and teach works righteousness. I'm sorry you refuse to recognize it, and continue to defend the spirit of antichrist. If you were really saved, you would find the subtle attacks against the Lord Jesus Christ, in all your modern perversions, intolerable, completely unacceptable and despicable. If you will turn to God with your whole heart, in complete honesty to Him, He will open your spiritually dark eyes to the glorious Light of His Truth, the KJV! “Trust in the LORD with ALL thine heart (quit playing games with God, He knows you're lying to Him); and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3.5 KJV Based on the final authority of Scripture, the KJV, I even know you're lying about how you're implying you're a Christian. You're only fooling yourself. I do not care to debate this issue any more with you, because it is a complete waste of my time with people like you. I refuse to cast my pearls before swine. You can take what I say, or leave it! But you have been warned.
