So I saw this video last year December 2nd 2014 .. i was gonna wait until March 2015 to big chop and this just made me so anxious so i went in the bathroom and chopped it all off. came out .. went to my moms room and cried because I thought I looked ugly. I had to go to school with my hair like that and I was so sad. Now a year later and my hair is armpit length and healthy as ever. with help from you you made me realize I shouldn't be ashamed of my real hair. thank you for giving me that extra push to cut my hair off. I really hope you see this ❤️

I’m also mixed, also from florida, and have a pretty similar curl pattern to yours. I subscribed at 15 or 16 and I’m now 23. I just wanted to say you have impacted my life so much and I honestly love so much. I kinda feel weird saying this to someone who I’ve never met and doesn’t know me, but you really changed my life. So thank you 😭❤️

Thank you for posting this and I think your hair looks great girly! ;)

I saw this video a few months ago and I was debating on whether I should wait till my natural hair a got a bit longer before I cut off the relaxed sections. I let my hair grow out just a bit, but I was so tired of those relaxed ends and just 2 days ago, I cut all that out. My hair is short now, but I'm only 18 so I have many natural years to go. It's crazy because my cousin, she's like the prettiest and most fashionable on in my family and this is what she said to me, "You know this natural thing? It's not beautiful, I don't even know why you're doing it." It hurt me at the moment when she said that, but I sucked it up, brushed it off and kept doing my thing. I also forgot to mention you, and many other youtubers inspired me to chop off most of my hair. I'm so glad I did it. I feel free up there and I don't regret anything.

I want to big chop, I can if I want to, but I don't really have a lot of support.. My mom and aunt, the two biggest influences in my life, have never been natural, the said the got a relaxer when they were about 4/5. Everytime I show them a picture of how short I want my hair (a bob because my roots have grown out a couple inches) and in bar strap length, they tell me how ugly I'll be, and how I am so ungrateful to do that to my hair, and how it'll never grow back as long as it is now if I do it... But I want to liberate myself, but these straight, stiff, dry, thin, badly layered hair... I just don't know what to do because I know I might be insecure about it and with some of the people in my family putting it down and being negative will only make me feel worse..ughh
@Luhhsetty9 жыл бұрын
I know to some people my big chop wasn't that extreme, but to me it was. It took me over 2 years to get my hair that long, and it was really hard to let it all go. I honestly didn't even tell anyone I was going to cut my hair, I just started snipping. My mom came home and just stared at me for like 3 minutes in shock!! It's almost been a year and my mom STILL doesn't like the fact that I cut my hair. She has accepted it, but doesn't like it. The problem is that people do not always understand the reasons for big chops. They look at length, and will call you stupid for cutting off your long hair. Personally, my main goal was to be able to put my hair into a ponytail. So I transitioned for a year and put my hair in buns to be able to eventually cut most of the damage. The best advice I can give you is to set a length goal for yourself. When you reach it, remember that you promised yourself a haircut and actually follow through with it!! Cutting your hair is for YOU. As much as we would all LOVE the support of our families, sometimes it's a lonely journey. Whenever your hair grows long and healthy, you'll have the last laugh, trust me. :)

So I'm kinda new to your channel, but Ive watched sooooo many of your videos already, and I'm also on a journey with my hair. I used to have really long hair and I would always keep it in buns and ponytails. I still kinda do. My hair was always a struggle when I was younger, and I was one of those girls who ended up perming it to help me maintain it. Towards the end of my freshman yr in high school, I got my first real big chop. My hair was down my back, like yours was, as you showed us in previous videos. Afterwards, I had just begin to wear my hair in curls, which I've still till this day love more than my straight hair. Over the years, I'd preferred it that way, it was more fun, and it made me feel better about my hair. The only thing that made things feel hard is that I was still perming it, and honestly, it didn't damage my hair the way it may have to many other people, but it still just made me unhappy. I have like a mixture of 3b and 4b type hair. It's always been like that, regardless of what products I used. During my senior year of high school, I decided to go natural, because I wanted to know the full truth about my hair. Come to find out, my hair is alot curlier than I thought, much like yours! I was super excited, and I kinda vowed to myself that I would never perm or relax my hair ever again. The only thing I struggle with now is dealing with split ends. I watched one of your videos where you lightly touched basis on them. I've continued to cut my hair over the years, but i still have them. I'm at a point now where I wanna cut my hair enough to get rid of them, and I want to put my hair away for a while (braids, cornrows, weave, etc). I've been debating on this big chop, because I don't know if I should try it myself. This video, however, helped me gain some more confidence about doing it though, and I just wanna say thank you so much for the help! Your videos have helped me personally with a lot of things, even though I've sorta just started watching you. I appreciate you dearly! I'm also thinking or starting my KZbin channel or my hair journey, so thank you for the tips!

Lisette you inspired me to finally let go of my length that I've been holding onto since my chemical damage happened in Oct of 2015. the fourth time I bleached my hair I killed it so bad. my super curly 3a hair disappeared. I cried but held onto my length and I barely got a trim to the middle of my chest. in six months my hair grew to almost to the middle of my back. and it was the longest my hair had been since I was 8. but my hair was stringy and frizzy and barely still had curls. I tried my hardest to make it healthy for those months but it just wasn't happening. it was a mess of fake curls omg. so today I got the courage to cut it and I did today. I cut my own too and its barely touching my shoulders now. I'm so happy I did it but I'm going even shorter soon! wish me luck love you lisette!! xoxo

I love watching your vids cuz our hair texture is basically the same and it was difficult for me to find someone on YT who i could Identify with. Thanks for sharing your journey with us! I'm getting a lot of help from you because i have finally found someone I could identify texture, length and issues with :) All the best hun! Your short cut is super cute on you, I love it. I did my big chop last May to rid myself of my relaxed ends, I did it myself and my hair did come out choppy but I was and still am able to blend my curls together so you can't see the choppyness lol and the first few months of me being natural I just wore my hair in puffs until I was ready to wear it out and my hair was the shortest I ever had my hair. I allowed the relaxer to grow out for six months and I when I cut it off I was left with about 3 inches of hair but its been a year and three weeks and my hair stretched comes past my collar bone but of course my other layers are shorter so I am in the process of growing my hair all to be one length. My big chop was spontaneous as well because I had planned on cutting it at a year post relaxer but I couldnt wait, my hair was a mess and it was falling out at the ends and my ends were way past split so it had to go. It was the best decision that I had made for my hair and im loving my naturally curly hair :-)..you will get your long hair back in no time girl.

I want to go natural and i already cut most of my long hair (its about bob length), i want my hair to hurry up and grow so i can get the natural roots and to cut the relaxed ends. my mother won't let me shave my hair (big chop, I'd rather do that method) how can i make my hair grow faster i dont want to wait 2 years to be natural.

Mizuki Moe I'm also in the same situation as you ,try using hair masks with things like eggs,mayo,almond oil,coconut oil,etc. that's what I use and it really makes my hair look healthier.

I big chopped my shoulder length hair 4 weeks ago (August 31st) and my hair is so much healthier! I had a lot of heat damage and I needed 4 inches cut off but it was so worth it. Im proud of you for going ahead and cutting it! Most girls are too attached to the length than the health of their hair. New subbie!

I did the same exact thing! my hair is exactly like yours, meaning its super tight curls and then weird waves at the ends so I just went to my mom one day and told her to chop off as much as she could without me having an afro and I LOVE IT! SO much better to style and so much less headache.

A person can have more than one texture. My hair also grows wavy then curly. It's very common
@ribbons13898 жыл бұрын
Yeah but it shouldn't be wavy at the bottom curly at the top, your curl pattern doesn't just change, it's damaged

She was cutting out the damage/perm or relaxer.

Your hair looks beautiful. ^_^ I did this in January and I'm so glad I did. It's so much better having all curly, healthy, short hair than having unhealthy, long, curly hair with wavy ends. It was definitely scary just because it had to be cut wet and I'm not a pro lol but over time it'll get evened out. It was totally worth it and my hair is getting longer and is stronger. ^_^

you're the reason I got a keratin a while back and now you're the reason I might get a big chop. you're so influential to my curly hair lol!!

your hair actually looks better after the chop.

I'm so happy I stumbled across your videos. Most of your hair videos remind me of how I was when I big chopped (twice). This video is exactly how I did mine, spontaneously on curly hair bc I was tired of stringy ends.

See I want to do this but I'm scared of what people would say and I don't want to be made fun of 😂😂

Love that you started over. That's a good start. Now you can have fun with your hair & see it grow over the years. So happy for you!!!! Ps. I hate the soufle too. Its not good at all. Some curly hair products I recommend, the cantu line, the olive oil gel, &the shea moisture line

I cut my hair off about two months ago and donated it for cancer! i miss my hair but its growing back really fast. i literally had scalp left lol but now i have about 2inches of hair now. I concur with you, if your hair needs to be cut then do it. healthier it is the faster it grows!.

Your hair looks so much fuller and healthier now! The length of my hair is about your hair length now because 1 year and a half ago, I guess I did a "big chop" (by accident) and it was right above my neck..Super short (I have really tight coils). I'm glad it happened though because I had a lot of heat damage. Anyways, I really like your natural texture:)

The only thing I could think about is the way ur friends handled the big chop,like if u were diein why did u cut it,but the thing is what u did took bravery and guts,I'm proud of u n ur journey to wake those curles back up,I think u did a great job.people like to worry about the imperfection but don't realize the imperfection is what make us as individuals what u did took courage n u should be proud u did the right thing people r ignorant that's in our nature but don't let their ignorance make you feel horrible about redefining yourself again,congrats on ur graduation and your journey and thank u for the video

Omg I love your channel so so much! We have kinda similar hair types and when I was doing my big chop (which was kind've a mini chop) it made me more comfortable doing it while watching this video lolol but I love my hair now even though it's shorter like yours and mine is also SO much more bouncy. I'm also seeing curls I didn't even know I had. Thanks for your videos, I'm a new subscriber! :)
