PCOS does make it easier to gain weight and harder to lose, but it's negligent to imply that within one year it can cause a person to gain 100 lbs. Please do not misinform the population about a syndrome that many have never heard of.

Miranda Hane I have done no/few carbs since I was 9 and it helps. I'm a juvenile diabetic (very different from Type 2) with PCOS. Maybe I'll give Atkins a try. It's hard to lose the 15lbs I need to, especially with PCOS, but I know with enough exercise and portion control/quality of food it can happen. Thanks for the info!

You can't make PCOS your excuse. I have PCOS which makes gaining weight incredibly easy and losing weight incredibly difficult. If I ate like everyone else, I probably would be obese. My body works differently, so I have to be aware of what it needs/doesn't need. You have to eat healthy foods, whole foods to take care of your body. Take control of what you can, accept what you can't control.

Bethany A I agree! My mom had to have her thyroid removed and takes medication to make up for it. Not having a thyroid and being on medication causes her to gain weight easily and it’s extremely hard to lose it. Yet... she’s not overweight or even fat and eats healthy like 5 days out of the week. Clearly Whitney is not eating well or putting effort in at all to be healthy

Bethany, thank you so much for your comments on P.C.O.S. As a clinician AND a patient your knowledge of how the disease works, yet how we can help to "rein it in" was really refreshing. I do NOT watch this show but am appalled at the amount of disinformation this woman spreads about the syndrome!

I also have pcos and one of the most important things you can do to keep the symptoms in check is to keep your weight down and eat healthy. Any Dr. will tell you that so she obviously must know that information and just not care.. On the other hand, I don't think anyone should be mean to fat people because a lot of them are really suffering mentally. Whitney herself is suffering even though she's pretending it's all good and fun to be morbidly obese

PCOS can drive a person to overeat???? It is not in control of your body. I was told the same thing when I started taking a certain medication. Everyone on blogs who took the same medication blamed the medication for gaining weight. Yes, it is more difficult to loss weight, but I am in control of my health. I am now on a low glycemic index diet for a month, and I have already lost 3 to 4 pounds. And with more exercise, I know I could loss more.

I have narcolepsy and hidradenitis supperativa. Two incurable diseases. I’m overweight, possibly even obese (nowhere near Whitney though). Obese people can’t do everything. I went on a retreat with my small group and I was too heavy for the zip line and too big for the kayaks. I had no fun on that trip. I believe I have those diseases because of how I was eating. I was literally raised on fast food. Smh. I’m trying to change, but it’s so freaking hard. Definitely praying I don’t get even close to how big she is. It’s one thing to accept yourself, but you CANNOT force others to accept her weight as “healthy” or inspiring. 🤦🏼‍♀️

One of my very good friends is close with Whitney. Recently my friend told me that Whitney is bordering on delusional about the amount of food she consumes. My friend has shared many meals with Whitney and has seen her denial first hand. Her weight gain is almost exclusively due to her enormous calorie intake. I feel that she uses food and her over the top jolliness to cover up some very deep rooted pain. I hope for the best for her. Her family is great, they are genuinely kind people. Her mother is absolutely delightful.

My P.C.O.S. (also called Stein-Leventhal syndrome) is very severe. However, as a clinician also, I know that Whitney is WRONG in her own interpretation of the disease. It may cause alopecia (patchy hair loss, complete baldness is rare), hirsutism (hair growth where a woman usually doesn't have it, face, neck for example), the bearded lady of Victorian "freak shows" are even rarer, thanks to modern advances in endocrinology. Lastly, her "being fat" is the one that makes steam come out of my ears. It does make the patient carry excess weight (mainly around the tummy & torso) & makes it more difficult to lose BUT one can keep an almost "normal" weight if one doesn't over eat & exercises regularly (not just wiggling around but really exercising)!!! P.C.O.S. is misunderstood enough without this young woman using the platform of a TV show to spread NONSENSE to fit, what I can only imagine is a high calorie diet, compared to the amount she burns. It's main symptom is difficulty becoming pregnant &, ironically, excess body fat in a woman causes elevated testosterone levels, so Whitney better start losing weight if she wants a better shot at ever having children.....

Almost normal weight? I have 28 years, since I had cysts in the ovary I was thin, I was fattening and getting fat, I did several physical activities, controlled traditional diet, I still gained weight, I ate brown bread, brown rice, all that doctors, nutritionists, nougolos indicated did, I was never compulvisa, I already did hours and hours of physical activity, I took a cyst from the ovary along the left ovary and horn at 16 years, I thought I did not have it anymore. At age 15 I had 75 kg, today at 28 I have 130 kg kg, memso not having more cysts same exams continue to change, it still seems that I have polycystic ovary syndrome. I am evndo doctors today stating that polycystic ovarian syndrome is caused by insulin inflammation, what is working for me is to take everything that is starch, bread, rice, to see weight reduction, it's just making it reduce, but I get very irritated in the diet. I do caloric restriction my whole life, I live in Brazil, I do not consume fast food, I eat more bread, rice, cereal bar that is starch the same way now the Whitiney who lives with these foods will fatten triple that I because everything that she consumes sugar, she who has resistance to isnulin sucks, it only makes weight gain

To treat and lose weight, and cure the sop only with lowcarb diet, dropping all sugar, grains, refined carbohydrate and eating vegetables / vegetables, fruits with low fructose, meats / chicken / fish, good fats like olive oil, no vegetable oils
@anandananda9515
@anandananda9515 6 жыл бұрын
To treat sop is low carb diet only so to eliminate this inflammation, this is caused by high isnulin which increases androgens, we gain weight, fasting, we can not eat food like bread, industrialized full of sugar, every time that consumes this increases the glycemia, and releases more and more insulin to lower insulin, at first altered insulin then is isnulin resistance, hypersistenism until you get type 2 diabetes, have people never get to diabetes 2, plus high insulin is great culprits why it is It's all about making a diet, but you can not lose weight, you have to lose weight, you have to do the diet LOWCARB BASED ON TRUE FOOD, NATURAL VEGETABLES, MODERATE PROTEIN , GREAT TYPES OF OLIVE OIL NOTHING OF VEGETABLE OILS.

My daughter has PCOS and the first thing I did for her and our entire family was to get on a low glycemic index diet. We are all now lossing weight and feeling healthier. Also, our moods have improved greatly. Also, their are natural means of treating PCOS to lower your insulin/blood sugar levels and to treat the entire endocrine system which is really the issue. One need to go to an endocrinologist to truly get a diagnosis. Through this diet (which is really a lifestyle change), exercise, natural herbs and supplements, and prayer to God, many women have successfully treated their PCOS and now have regular periods, reduction of cysts, can now become pregnant, ect. She is not doing herself or anyone else any good by saying she is over weight because of PCOS and by refusing to help her health. I found her statments quite irritating and full of falsehoods.

Norma Garcia don't call people stupid, especially when you're wrong. PCOS is an ENDOCRINE (hormone) disorder and is treated by an endocrinologist. I see an endocrinologist for my PCOS as well as my hypothyroidism. Some people opt to have it treated by their OBGYN because one major issue can be fertility issues and menstrual issues so an OBGYN can address those issues.

Donnalee Clubb one reason America will have a difficult time constructing a single payer health care system (like the rest of the civilized world has) is due to this obesity epidemic. So yes, it IS our business when people destroy their health with food. The price of living in society is a certain loss of privacy.
@donnaleeclubb119
@donnaleeclubb119 6 жыл бұрын
starstuff100 I hope you are this concerned about other, more pressing problems currently with people making bad choices. We do not currently have an answer to the healthcare crisis and that has multiple problems. One of the most problematic reasons for the healthcare paying system is not only obesity, but actually people living longer and with that comes expensive tests, medicines, and care that have nothing to do with obesity as our body is designed to break down. We are not meant to live forever. But at the moment the real cost to the American taxpayer is single mothers and all of the help in the form of housing, welfare, WIC, food stamps and a multitude of other things they receive. Now, I am not in favor of abandoning these women. My point is, people bring the rising insurance cost or lack of insurance reform on obesity. It is only ONE factor, and I would say a small one. The reason being healthcare reform and its cost has been discussed since the time of President Nixon when obesity was not even really a factor. So yes, I do not think the obesity of anyone else should be a concern to other people than the ones directly involved.

Some people may judge her, saying she is unhealthy physically and that is the most important factor. Mental health and confidence mean so much and the fact that she has that says a lot about her. There are just as many skinny people as fat people with eating disorders, terrible body image, depression, etc. If she is more happy as a fat person than a skinny person, good for her! I think her beauty shines from the inside out and reflects on others, which is an amazing gift.

jojofromtx Public seems to not be able to just STFU. It must be mentally impossible to stop being rude to people who are not in their lives to begin with. Not everyone is educated in Diet and Nutrition and can maintain weight forever since their lives start. Blame the Government who don't provide the information early on to parents and children. The food industry is also to blame with their ingredients. Setting people up to fail just to make money off of sick people without giving them the tools to educate themselves. Not everyone can run a 5k even if they train everyday. It's just not in them. Like being a compassionate person for all humans on this Earth. Not just weight proportionate or under weight which is accepted even more. Blame a person who is human with feelings when they get constantly bullied all you want. Doesn't erase the fact that Fat predjudice is still predjudice and are treated awful. This kind of public behavior is similar to bullying fat teenagers and then they commit suicide because they don't deserve it and shouldn't have to accept being fat bashed constantly. Why should fat people have to deal with it through life. It should be a law to not descriminate based on weight. Maybe it will be in the future.

jojofromtx Well, you cannot choose your sexuality, MAYBE, that's debatable. But what you can choose is your actions just like your diet whether it is high calorie or low calorie. People do choose sexual partners. Just like she can act or not act on her urges. I am not advocating that it not in regard to sexuality. I am just saying it is no where near the same thing as race something you REALLY cannot choose either by action or birth. So, it is more of a valid comparison than you think.

However, the show has caught her gorging herself eating half a cake, an entire container of ice cream and throwing back countless sugar filled coffee drinks. PCOS doesn't make you fat. Your totally unhealthy lifestyle, lac of commitment to exercise and diet which got your fired by your trainer and terrible eating choices have made you obese. She shouldn't be ridiculed for it but she shouldn't be proud of it either.

With the passing of time i have noticed people glorifying obesity. And unfortunately, their number is growing rapidly. It is repulsive. Obesity is not normal, it is not healthy, it is not something that inspires respect. But these people insist of presenting it like it is natural and ordinary, simply because it suits their purpose. It is disgusting. It is repulsive. Loving oneself is very important, but following a very unhealthy lifestyle and advertising as something natural is morally wrong.
