NEW BIG HANK HATS!: bit.ly/2qtvRAC
In episode 5, Randy continues to stay patient waiting to find the right buck for him. He has passed on several admirable deer, but since he has waited 20+ years for this tag he milks it for as long as he can.
His new friends bring him a "pick-me-up" part way through the morning. He drives from lookout to lookout, putting eyes on as many deer as possible. Later in the day he regroups with his friends who have put eyes on a nice buck. Randy feels conflicted going after "their" deer and contemplates if he should put a stalk on him or not.

This is a great lesson to hunters that it's not always a fight against everyone to get the buck you are looking for. There are advocates and good people who love it so much they'd give you helpful tactics and even a good spot.

Ive noticed a change over the last few years here in Wy. it used to be the nonres that were our biggest hassles, now the nonres are the most helpful and respectful. Locals are hit or miss and most outfitters are rude. Thats just been my experience I know others have different views

Randy I appreciate your honesty. Most hunting shows would have hid that fact. But really if you think about it for hundreds of years villagers and the like have pointed out game for one another in order to harvest game maybe I would give them the back straps of that old boy! Kudos to the friendly locals.!!

I’ve watched almost every video the Newberg team has produced in the past two years and this video was my favorite by far. I’m new to hunting and struggle with ballistic charts and even finding someone to hunt with, for spotting purposes and camaraderie alike. To know that people are willing to help out a fellow sportsman warms my heart. Randy thanks for keeping it real.

Karma! For someone who has given so much, it comes full circle. They looked thrilled to have been a part of it and genuinely ecstatic for the harvest for someone else. Says volumes about their character and guessing that's not the first or last time they'll do something like that. Selfless people, are just that, selfless. That was fun to watch on so many levels!

why I wanna throw up every time these hunters say stuff like "thankyou buck, thankyou" while patting the damn thing. You're not spiritual or in touch with nature, it's dead it can't hear you, which is fine so eat it but stop trying be a like a new age deusche bag in touch with sensitive side. You're really just covering up some kinda guilty feels for killing a wild creature in it's prime.

Then don't watch. I have no guilt. I have thanks and appreciation. A animal's life is taken so I can eat. That's some pretty serious emotions, in my mind. Giving thanks and appreciation is something that has been a tradition in my family for generations. I won't be changing that and we will continue to show it in our videos, so if it annoys you, watch another channel.

You all are far tougher than I with being out there in negative temps, I and my family friends were shaking like a leaf when it was 14 above in Idaho. I bet that Dec hunt in Arizona for Coues Deer felt so much better temperature wise in comparison. Nothing like some ultra friendly local "guide service", feeding you and the FT crew, then spotting a sweet gnarly buck. Much cheaper than British Columbia. haha ... Of course if you didn't stop and check on them, you wouldn't have had that opportunity. One can definitely appreciate the honesty about the situation and I know you felt funny putting a stalk on "their" buck as you said. Pretty cool to see the hunting and outdoor community help each other out like that, they wanted to see you succeed on a hunt that you have been waiting since you were 34/35 to go on, a late season migration mule deer hunt. Pretty interesting indeed. Congrats Randy and team on such a beautiful mature mule deer buck with some character and your biggest one yet. I do plan on doing a Wyoming mule deer and pronghorn combo hunt, but it will be in a unit and Region that I can get with 1 point. Hopefully I see one like the two you saw earlier in the episode or even some of the ones earlier in this series. I didn't know Jerry's Donuts closed this summer, I tried to get my brother to stop in Rawlins both to and from Idaho, but he didn't want to, now I am glad that we didn't since they sadly closed down. I guess that I will have to stop at the Cowboy's Doughnuts in Rock Springs if I do make it out there next fall. Hopefully they have some breakfast sandwiches, too. I followed their KrettaHunting page on Instagram and they have some sweet wildlife photos, after hunt photos and tons of big sheds, pretty cool indeed. Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoyed this story. It has every ingredient that in my eyes a hunt should have. You showed patience, you had an idea of what you wanted, you covered the ground, did the glassing and in the end put boots on the ground for the stalk. As a bonus you made some quality friends and I truly respect you for giving those folks the credit. Easy decision hitting the subscribe button.

We all thought you were a short action guy thru and thru. I knew you'd see the light. If your son can shoot a 300 win... It's the same bullet, just a lot faster. I remember once Randy said he hardly ever shoots more than 300 yards. I think he said 340 just before pulling the trigger. Plus it's the Randy Newberg signature rifle from HOWA, he kinda has to use it. I mean, if they're going to name a rifle after you... Nice job and I'm kind of glad it went to day 4. Fun to watch. Do an episode of you showing Aiden the big buck.
