I think for me the part about CGM that affected me the most were my insecurities and the pressure to have shiny smooth frizz free hair all the time. I mean when you see all these creators with the most beautiful juicy curls you certainly feel intimidated and kinda disappointed. I remember being stressed and grumpy about the smallest things about my hair thinking I was doing something wrong. But now I've learnt how to take it easy. I am only 19 and i still have a long way to go in my hair journey

My teenage daughter frequently switches to new products filled with chemicals for her hair, leading to hair fall at a tender age. That's when I took charge and discontinued her use of harsh hair care products. I introduced her to a gentle combination of coconut and onion shampoo and oil through little extra cocoo nion shampoo and oil, which has resulted in better hair health and scalp healing. The coconut provides nourishment, and the onion has helped reduce hair fall.

My own hair growth success story i followed below: 1. Fragrance free shampoo. Korean cosmetic industry understand why years ago, we are still behind. 2. Taoist soap for hair growth 2x a week only: stops further loss, stimulates new growth. 3. Nettle tea to drink 2x a day at least for removing hormone residue in the liver, futher supporting hormone balance, altho not fully but enough. 4. Scalp massage for 30 minutes a day. Do not skip, just massage with your finger tips slow and hard, be gentle at first as next day can get sore. 5. Collagen powder 2x a day w tablespoons each time. Dont get pills they are not high dose enough. 6. Cold water rinse on just top of scalp, dont let cold water on back of neck or head much as you might get sick. But once a day or a couple times a week does wonders. Learnt this from my brother who spent years looking for answers. He has a full head of hair now and 38. But at 23 he had very thin hair all over. I had thin hair too. Stick to the regimen, i promose you will see results. Hair growth requires many angels and this is why its hard to cure.

@Shilpy Nettle can be from anywhere, i get it from amazon. i often pick a different brand, but this year, i started using nettle leaf leaves from the forest near my house. it wont matter just any nettle leaf. but make sure you aren't allergic. collagen i get from great lakes company, but really, if it is hydrolysed bovine collagen, I just try to get the best deal per gram and have used many, they all work if they have those 2 combinations written on it - make sure your diet is healthy. You are only 19, so must make sure you don't eat too much carbs, sweets, fats and sugars - and keep a higher protein diet and stay active. also manage your emotions, if you feel up and down a lot, thats not good, its a sign hormones are not balanced, so do things to keep you busy, and happy - you will see all those TV stars, those ones who are really happy, never need surgery, as they never age that fast, they are emotionally happy and stable.

@@Tiagoddesss Hi, you can get it from online. They only sell on their website. but they ship worldwide if you order 2 or more. I usually get the larger pack to save money as they don't increase postage if you order more. You just apply for a few seconds and wash off from scalp. The residual effect stays long term so don't need to leave it in long. But make sure you do the rest of the regimen mentioned, like scalp massage and nettle tea and collagen powder etc.

When it comes to haircut I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU'LL TO GET A WIDE ROUND CUT FOR THE ENDS & LONG LAYERS. The V cut always makes our hair look thinner than it usually is. I have gotten wide round cut along with long layers twice now and my hair looks so healthy and voluminous both styled and unstyled. I have wavy 2b hair. Also avoid getting too many layers like in the unicorn cut. It will make your hair look thinner I hope this helps 😊

Michelle... I don't how to say thanks to you. I'm in tears now. The efforts you put behind this is ✨. Thank you so much for this. I used to believe that the hair is purely genetic and no matter what I do, it won't grow thicker for me. But after I'm introduced to you, I started taking care of my hair. After starting cg I have gone through a series of developments. You know exactly what I'm saying. I've lost my hair so much. At some time point I quitted hair care. But because of you dear, I'm still continuing and seeing results. I know, I can't change my genetics. But I can take care of my existing hair. I can decrease the rate of hair thinning. This video is a master class for people like me.., struggling with high hair loss. Now, what I'm going to do is re-watch this episode, and take notes and start my hair growth journey. I'll update every single details here. And ofcourse I have and I'll share pics, which you can use in your videos. Thank you Michelle, I now understand what you mentioned in our last convo. I really like how well researched and well explained all your videos are. I have recently started my haircare journey. I'm not completely into cgm yet but I do follow certain rules like not brushing them dry, using a soft flaxseed gel and figuring out what products would work best for my hair. I'm aiming at making my hair healthy first before getting into cgm completely and your videos have been of a great help. Usually I never attend any event w/o straightening my hair but yesterday was my first time styling my curls with a little gel for a family function. Trust me I've never felt so confident and so good about my hair. I feel so happy to finally have made peace with my natural hair type and embracing it, all thanks to you and a few other cgm influencers ❤ Also about the pilgrim serum, I think it's a good one. I've emptied one bottle in a month and I do have new baby hair on my hairline. I'm tracking my scalp images as well but there's no significant change there but my hairline definitely has some new hair growth.

Hey Michelle! Great video! As someone who has had bad haircuts in the past and recently suffered haircut shock (after a trim no less!) I completely understood your emotions after the botched hair cut. I went for a trim and it took me one month to get my waves back. My hair was almost straight (I'm 2A with some 2B pieces). But luckily my hair grew and its back to its old form. I also feel we don't talk about scalp health enough. I have an oily scalp and once I started focusing on cleansing it well and being more regular with wash days (Who isn't guilty of delaying wash days in CGM am I right?) I noticed a reduction in my hair loss due to oily scalp and breakage from removing tangles. And slip of the conditioner is SO IMPORTANT especially when you have long hair. I am attempting to grow my hair as long as possible. Thanks to following CGM and sticking to a good hair care routine, Michelle my hair is the most dense and longest its ever been in my entire life! I've never ever been able to have super long hair. I'm very happy with it now.

I have so much respect for people who stick to wavy/curly hair routines. I have 2a/b/c wavy hip length hair. Extremely dry, frizzy, coarse and tangles prone. No matter how many oils/masks/leave-ins I put, nothing is ever enough. I got inspired by your channel, bought a bunch of stuff that I couldn't even afford only for it to look like a frizzy mess which lost shape on 2nd day and gels making it even rough to comb through. And combing was the only option since it was a frizzy tangly mess which made me look like witch throughout the week far from being presentable. And trust me I tried every technique in the book, played around with quantities, did ever just to get frustrated in the end. Even scrunching it was terrible since I have really long hair and I lost a lot of hair combing with gel in my hair and wet detangling. Doens't help that I suffer from extreme back, neck and shoulder pain. I can't remember the amount of times, I was on verge of tears when after all the hardwork it looked like shit, or I had to comb it on 2nd or 3rd day and the comb would just not pass through bcz of so much shit in already dry and rough hair. It was hell. But the biggest thing that just made me give up was the amount of hassle and mentally always being worried about my hair to preserve the curls. I'm a govt exam aspirant and can't keep my hair open all the time, but putting it in buns or braids would make the loose curls vanish. Sleeping with a bonnet, keeping my hair in a bonnet throughout the day as well, can't go anywhere bcz hair is looking like shit, had to summon mental strength before picking up the comb and be prepared for tears, can't afford a diffuser so keeping a postion in which my curls are not disturbed while my back and neck is hurting so much bcz of all the styling was just too much for me. With time and life, I've lost half of the density in my hair and I'm just not in the headspace to fret over it anymore. Mad respect for people who are doing it.

Sorry to hear you have so many problems. I think if you don't have a lot of time it's best to just keep hair short and wear a bob, besides which wavy or curly bobs look great. Long hair is always high maintenance.
@saraha5522 Жыл бұрын
In my experience I personally find that frizz tends to be caused by dry hair, or not using the right products for your hair type. I need lots and lots of moisturizing deep conditioners, lots of moisturizing leave-ins, you can never go without a leave-in. And for me personally my hair only does well with creamy products, gels and mousse and even sprays don't work for it. Not all hair works well with all products, you have to find the ones that work best for your hair. I have dry wavy hair and I've developed a really simple routine that works well for me, my hair is low porosity so it can't stand a lot of products, it just refuses to absorb them. It's also thick, coarse and heavy so I need heavy products, so you really do need to find the types of products that work for you. Getting a good shampoo is fundamental, I only use natural solid shampoos or shampoo bars. Then using a very moisturizing deep conditioner every time I wash my hair is a must. After that I NEED a very moisturizing, creamy leave-in. I use leave-ins that double as curl activators or curl creams because since I have low porosity hair, my hair can't stand a lot of products, it just won't absorb them and they just sit on top of my hair and ball up and look like raindrops. So I can only use one leave-in product. After that I scrunch, plop for a couple hours and take it down and let air dry. That way I don't need to diffuse or use a hair dryer either, as I am a busy person lol.

Thank you for acknowledging the genetic component to healthy hair. My whole family is basically cursed on this front. I take care of what I have, but it will certainly never be good hair. It’s good for me to hear other people also say this rather than imply I could have nice hair if I worked hard enough/spent enough on it.
@iclickster5644 Жыл бұрын
Don't think it's that simple. Genetics just means you work harder to keep environment of your body free from those aspects of genetics being activated. Like taking more nutrition, altering diet and habits that can negatively affect hair, often sugar related.

@@iclickster5644 fair points. But this is quite extreme and really not sugar and bad diet related. My poor cousin was almost bald by 19!

I think genetics is important too. As a child I had the thickest longest hair you ever saw, no one at school had such thick hair as me, and I never did anything to keep it healthy, it just grew thick and long like a weed all by itself.
@iclickster5644 Жыл бұрын
@@saraha5522 I didnt say genetics doesn't play a role, but it doesnt stop the people who are less gifted or prone to hair loss - they just have to work harder to maintain it - and take better nutrition, among dozens of other things. But the way genetics is portrayed today, they make it sound like, if your hair this is way genetically, no way to do anything about it, which isnt true - but yes the benefit for it, if its on your side, then you won't need to care much for it, but then you may already be doing things without knowing, which is helping your hair.
@iclickster5644 Жыл бұрын
@@dees3179 being almost bald by 19 doesnt mean it wasn't insulin related. Most people today have insulin problems, it just is not serious enough to cause a serious health condition so they just leave it at that - the definition of sugar in this case includes even fruits and vegetables which do not have literal sugar but still cause an insulin response in the person - and it happens only after some abuse of sugar, genetic tendancy of getting a sugar problem is more common in middle eastern, south asian and mexican genes, especially if they live in hot countries.

Great advice Michelle! I have weak hair, I realised wet detangling doesn't suit me only because I lack patience. I finger detangle with oil before shower and I use only wide tooth comb for styling that too without applying much tension on wet strands, I simply brush them away from the scalp while upside down styling.

Kama Ayurveda bringhadi oil is expensive but it works quite well, u just need to apply it on the scalp but not on the hair. Massage the scalp well with fingertips. It’s very cooling on the scalp, I use it like 3 hours before I go to sleep, and then I wash it off the next day. I use it twice a week, and it’s important to be consistent, using too much of it in one go isn’t gonna help but using it consistently will. It has a strong herbal smell but since it’s absorbed by the scalp quite soon, you neednt worry much.

Hi Michelle, I have been watching your videos for a while and I really admire you... I have somewhere between 2c or 3a type curly hair but they are very dry (even after regular oiling as well)....I have tried the products or routine mentioned in your videos, my curls do get defined but they are dry and sticky (due to the hair cream probably ) but not moisturized or soft....only the leave in conditioner seems effective Early I used to use loreal serum, it really gave a good shine and smoothness but only for few hours ,and now I use Giovanni serum( thicker consistancy) which makes my hair look and feel sticky....is there any aqua based serum ? .. don't know what products to use for dry hair with oily scalp
@MichelleManuel Жыл бұрын
Try a light leave in conditioner with a gel instead. Could you tell me which products/product combinations you've used from the routines I've shown? Also could you tell me your porosity and curl pattern?
@anuja0302 Жыл бұрын
I have low porosity hair and curl pattern is somewhere around 2c or 3a. Right now I am using mom and co's protein shampoo, re'equil 's murumuru conditioner and plum's hair mask , leave in conditioner and hair cream by Arata.
@MichelleManuel Жыл бұрын
If you have low porosity hair I'd ask you to check out the video I did for low porosity hair. Another thing, i would request you to use the requil murumuru conditioners once in a couple of weeks only. For now, you can do: Cleansing shampoo (switch) Hair mask with heat cap (plum one is fine) Gel/Mousse Clarify your hair once every 2 to 3 washes.

@@MichelleManuelThanks a lot... Will definitely go through the video and change my cleansing and clarifying shampoos. Also which conditioner should I use for regular basis ?
@MichelleManuel Жыл бұрын
You don't need a mask and a conditioner. I'd recommend following the lineup I suggested above. If you're looking for some conditioners in general to try later on, then I've suggested a few in the video I pointed you towards.

:( for the haircut, I'm sorry. It sucks. And it takes time to rectify. My haircut video was so precise and detailed. Despite that, stuff happened! I'm telling myself that it takes 2 people to communicate. Listening and understanding also play a role in effective communication. If a stylist cuts you off and is dismissive when handed a video, you yourself feel embarrassed and tend to comply without pressing on. There's a cultural component as well. Individualist cultures vs collectivist cultures. Definitely see a doctor for the hairfall. Sending you strength and encouragement.

Hi Michelle How to know if the gel does not go with leave in conditioner because I just bought the Giovanni gel and paired it with Ashba Botanics Leave-in Conditioner and got clumps texture Can you tell me if any method to know to avoid buying next time thank you all my hair products are from your recommendation I just bought the RE' EQUIL Hair Fall Control Shampoo for clarifying was awesome my scalp feels clean thank you again for your hard work
@MichelleManuel Жыл бұрын
Ahh yes. I spoke to Ashba about this. I found that the curling custard and the ashba leave in didn't go together. The feedback was that the product should not pill. I came to the conclusion that the product had probably expired. If my memory serves me, the product only remains good for 6 months after opening. Because the product comes in such a big size, it takes very long to finish the product. Does this hold true in your case? Either way, I'll tell you my experience with gels. Most gels I've used are gloopy. They go well with most leave ins and curl creams. The only gels I've used that have this non gloopy nature are 1. The Giovanni gel 2. The new Northwish gel that hasn't been released yet. If your ashba leave in has not expired, I'd be weary of pairing it with these 2 above mentioned gels. Hope this helps.

I knw uh talk abt curly hair ... But still i trust uh only .... As i use conditioner ... Nd it make my hair flat nd smooth ... Looking more thin .... Wat to do
@MichelleManuel Жыл бұрын
I don't know what your hair looks like. But I'll tell you this much. I now have medium porosity hair. When I use a leave in conditioner, my volume gets reduced. If you have low or medium porosity hair, using a leave in might weigh your hair down significantly, reducing the volume. You'd rather use a conditioner in wash off form. For root volume and lift you can try volume clips or rollers. I've seen many straight haired people use texture spray or dry shampoo on their roots and then style it with rollers. Try finding the biggest velcro rollers possible. It might help with the volume.
@MichelleManuel Жыл бұрын
Look for sea salt or texture spray and natural dry shampoos if you're looking for root lift and volume pair with large velcro rollers. Consider curtain bangs or short layered haircuts. Eg butterfly cuts etc.

I have sebborrhoic dermatitis nd androgenic alopecia .. i m consulting with a renowned dermatologist nd she tells me tht it will take lifelong treatment ....so how can I style my thin hair ..nd minimize scalp buildup
@MichelleManuel Жыл бұрын
My advice would be, don't style your hair right now. Seborrheic dermatitis points towards an underlying fungal infection. The fungus in this case, thrives and feeds on oils. Most of our CG leave-ins and Gels have oils and other moisturizing feast worthy ingredients. It will make the issue worse. Might be best to stay away from them for now. The more your* scalp is clogged; the more hair fall you will experience. The more the issue persists, the more buildup you will see. Its vicious cycle. The good news is that the condition is reversible. It takes time and persistence. Once you rectify it, consider your options. For now, my advice is, don't style. it's not worth it. In the case of androgenetic alopecia, you will need to keep using your medications. (Your doctor probably will suggest a combo of topical peptides, minoxidil, procapil, capixyl, redensyl etc) For this issue, if you keep using the medications, you keep seeing results. Once you stop using the medications, you stop seeing the results. Adhere to your docs suggestion. You're in good hands.

Nd yup u r right ....my dermate recommend me water based minoxidil twice a day for daily ,ketoconazole based shampoo and a lotion contains salicylic acid...
@MichelleManuel Жыл бұрын
You could potentially use a light conditioner. Wash it off thoroughly. Apply from mid length to tip. Don't apply any near the scalp. I did speak to my dermatologist about the use of conditioner for seborrheic dermatitis. He seemed to be okay about it, if used in the form of rinse off products. Avoid pre-poos and oils. Conditioners should not be applied near the scalp anyway.
@MichelleManuel Жыл бұрын
But don't take my word for it. Double check with your doc about using conditioner. They've seen your condition first hand and will provide the most sound advice.

I'll share some points on this: Don't skip deep conditioning Use a leave in conditioner that gives you enough moisture Try bond building products Try a dry refresh to reduce tangling between clumps. It reduces mid week breakage as well Build a curly hair night routine Switch to satin and silk scrunchies and pillowcases Add protein into your routine Good nutrition is also key Don't use brushes to style
