This tank inspired me to rescape to a crypt, sword, Anubius, buce focused nature style tank. I went from an advanced stem, carpets and moss scape and the maintenance upkeep really started to take the enjoyment out of the hobby constantly trying to trim and shape it to perfection but I couldn't keep up with the growth. Now I get my hands in the water and pinch off a handful of leaves off every so often, bringing much more peace and enjoyment. Less is more indeed. Thanks!

I absolutely Love this tank, especially the Echinoderus grouping...planning on doing this kind of visual feast in my next aquarium...plus the lower maintenance aspect is a win, I really like the Crypts too. But the star of the show has to be the Blue Pariaiba Angels!!! So good to have the nuggets of wisdom you drop here and there, from your long experience...very much appreciated!

It has to be an aquarist thing, sit in front of your aquarium, marvel at its contents and development then think ' what can I do next'.? I mean imagine a 10 x 3 x 3 ft, that would be amazing, expensive and a lot of work but amazing. If ever you take the plunge, please can we have a step by step video of the build? I'm salivating at the prospect.🤩

Go for it George, A 10ft aquascape would be awesome, I’m 71 now and still have the 60p which I love, if I was younger I would definitely have a 6 or 8 ft aquascape . Tank looks amazing as they all do .

Yes, go for the custom tank. You know it makes sense. Love this aquascape though. The planting is great. I think I would add some of the crispatula and spiralis red crypts, like the ones in one of your clients tanks, at the back. I like to see the movement in the water. 👍

George, also wanted to tell you that I use an Anoxic Filter for my tank as well which allowed me to discontinue CO2 over a year ago with no ill effects

George - great video as usual, I use the "magic eraser" which does a great job of getting rid of all algae (my tank is acrylic) no scratching, no bad chemicals. Not sure if its available in UK or not

The fish that is bloated has organ failure, specifically it'll be something like kidney failure and the fish internally is full of urine. It cannot expel the excess fluid. There was an autopsy video by one of the fish dr. On KZbin that explained and showed all of this off. It's an identical presentation of the illness.

Wonderful George. Thank you for the run through. You and Steenfott aquatics really have inspired me to get blue berry tetra. Regarding the angels do you think they will get along with the inhabitants when they reach full size? They are lovely but I just know they can be temperamental. I have had some challenges in the past with a group of seal point angels I had. If you have tips I am all ears. It would be great to have them again in the future. Perhaps the key is to have a pair like you do? Just thinking out loud

Enough said about your tank, that is just beautiful. Would like to know what camera you use to shoot the video, the settings and how you do post edit. It's so cinematic and and colors are so balance it is soothing just to watch the close up fish swimming. Pls share your recipe for such a fine work!

I see you, George, daydreaming about a huge aquarium! 😅 Just make sure it will fit through the door when it gets delivered! Personally I'd be looking at 120 to 150 cm, which would plenty enough for me. Great scape, not only because I also adore Echinodorus and Cryptocoryne. Speaking of which, I seem to remember you had C. balansae at some point? It would break up the black background a bit. It's doing quite well in my 2 current aquariums, which are full-blown jungles at this point.

I honestly think you deserve to have yourself a custom built aquarium by now if you can afford it and you and your wife think it makes sense in the space. You’ve put in so much work and hobby time consistently for so many years now. That being said, I really enjoy your wadai tank. I’ll miss it if you move on, but it does seem to have lived well! I am very much into long term tanks and fish myself, and there is something awesome about very old, extremely settled in cryptocorynes to me. Cheers

You showed the fish that is bloated. I had a similar thing with a rice fish. I think it was a tumor. I set up a hospital tank for her and treated her for parasites, bacterial and fungal infections. She just continued being bloated. Her behavior, eating and pooping habits didn't change. She lasted about four months and then passed away.

A three foot deep aquarium sounds cool in theory but even in my 2 foot deep aquarium I found that some species of fish stayed toward the back and it was frustrating that I couldn't see them that well. So unless you are keeping monster fish (which I suspect is not your thing) I am not sure I am such a fan of super deep aquariums. Unless maybe they are visible from all sides as room dividers or in the center of a room.

3000 l? Go for it! It would be impractical in a flat, but terrific in a house! My self-imposed limit is 198 x 60 x 60 cm because of the elevator door frame and maintenance, but I heard stories about 5 men lugging 3 m tank up the stairs, several floors up. :D
