Lol good for you thats awesome. It was a great question I am a fairly new bluebell myself. If it helps any I also back in like 04 got promoted to blue belt however I guit because of the wanting to win so much thing and ego of a young man. Chewy is right back then in Connecticut anyways it was hard to get a blue belt and when I dint win all the time I quit. Now as a 40 year old new blue belt who was terrified of quitting I take this very seriously and I really feel like I am twice the blue belt I was when I was 24. I can't have that time back but I can be a better jiu-jitsu practioner who didn't quit this time... oss ,thank you ,chewy bro u help a shit ton of people

Awesome question. Coming up on my blue belt soon as well, maybe a few more months. I have that same problem. My attacking side on guard and maybe guard in general kinda sucks. Hate guard but I definitely know I need to work on it. Keep up the good work brother! Congrats on the belt.

New blue belt here and I try add things while maintaining things I was already decent at. Tough balance to try new things and not get smashed or have the ego think I’m going backwards.

I've always done the "earn it" strategy. If my top game is really good and I need to work on my guard I will pull guard and go for a sweep to earn my position on top. Then I can work on smashing and working my aggression. I feel like that helps you connect the positions and flow with BJJ easier too, finding out how to get from your bad positions to your good ones is important.
@qstogg79553 жыл бұрын
You lost me at pulling guard lol
@damianomma3313 жыл бұрын
I literally do the exact same thing. i love side control, and working my side control switches and back control. So to work my bottom game, ill work different guards and sweeps in order to get to that position, stay there for a bit, and reset or try to get a finish ;)

Me and a training partner have strategy of sorts. Usually we have 4 sessions a week, and every week, we try and focus on something specific during rolling. For instance, one week you focus on attacks from the back, next week, you focus on attacking from side control, and so on. Doing this, you quickly find your weaknesses. Then, you focus on your weakest position, focusing on submitting and defending from there. It takes a significant amount of time, and destroys you mentally, but it has improved my game immensely.

Thank you for the advise, I got my Blue belt a month ago. I can feel a difference in practice, it seems like everyone stepped up their intensity with me. Like the white belts have more to prove, and the colored belts feel like I am worthy of their time and energy. Lol idk, it's fun as hell

@dzikus.minimus.maximus3 жыл бұрын
@@nonyabizness2550 Mostly it's not knowing what I don't know, which sounds kind of dumb, but for example, I got put in a choke three weeks in, and prior to that, had never been choked before in my life, so it's kind of sensory overload and inexperience. I got choked so hard I had to chin tuck for a week to swallow my own spit. It'll just take time and getting dominated before I get to experience all aspects of being crushed.

Hey bro, love you're content definitely love watching your videos before going to roll and il set a goal of only submitting them with a submission I learned from you. I was wondering of you could help me with an issue I ran into last night. The guy is atleast 270 while I'm 190, I kept guard most of the time but he was able to transition into side mount and sprawled out. It felt like eternity! No air at all, no space, I wasent able to swing my hips out at all, could not even insert my arms to post him on my elbows. Any ideas?? I'd ask people there but I'd like it to be a surprise😉
