Trying to keep my ego out of being a freshly promoted blue belt, I can tell a lot of the white belts roll with me differently knowing that my belt color has changed. I know that I have a lot that I need to learn during my time as a blue belt so I'm focusing on trying new things outside of my comfort zone so that I can expand my game.
@Torey19763 жыл бұрын
Same here brother. Once you get your blue belt the white belts roll harder, purple belts roll harder and even the people who have been blue belts longer roll harder. It's all about learning and growing which is hard to do if we're always worried about "losing" or tapping.

One issue with the belt system is that there are no clear guidelines on what each level means. White and black are easy to understand, beginner and expert. But blue, purple, and brown are a little messy. I think of the belts as an education pathway. White is K-12, Blue High school-AA, Purple BA, Brown grad school, Black is when you earn that advance degree. Also competition adds a different element. If you are placing 1st in all the white comps, thrm blue is needed to promote growth.

Not really sure why i even watch these videos since i dont train bjj, but same thing happens in track and field, once you are constantly improving everything is great, but at some point your progress slows down or stops completely, thats where the doubts come in. However, if you have a good coach, as long as you keep your chin up and continue working hard, your coach will probably be happy to have you around and not feel like you are ruining his image.

1) Even if you never meet your coaches expectations I’m sure he doesn’t mind THAT much. I imagine he still likes your money at the end of the day. 2) I’m not crapping on the community. But as much as I love Jiu Jitsu and everything that comes with it, at the end of the day people need to realize it’s just a martial arts class when everything is said and done about it. How some people lose sleep over stuff like this is a little beyond me. If I advance, awesome. If I don’t, that’s fine too. I still have things going for me in life outside the gym.

Upvoting and commenting so that chewy sees this. I’m woefully in need of the same but what has helped me has been interval training. Things like dynamic movements, sprints for time. So I’ll pick up a 50lb bag for 30 seconds and then chill for 30, or do the same thing with sprints, hills, kettles, etc. Again I’m coming from level -1000 but it seems to be helping me a lot.

Maybe try to focus more on faints and good frames, don't force things, try to find space before moving so u conserve your energy more , less scrambling and more frames and technique, or better body position for more pressure so if your on top your not "squeezing" so much but are still heavy and have control

Everyone is different. I've never done any combat sport or wrestling or anything & got my blue in 6 months. I train on the mats 7 hrs a day & study another day 3. 5 days a week. I can retain what I'm shown pretty much immediately. Dont compare yourself to others. Someone is always better. Faster. Stronger. Smarter. More passionate. Do what makes you HAPPY! Very few people ppl enjoy my lifestyle because it's living in soreness & being tired & eating super well clean 24/7. Always exhausted & gritting my teeth. Why I went ARSOF when I was enlisted. I thrive on struggle. Most don't enjoy that long term & nobody should be expected to enjoy it.
