i grew a kratky pumpkin and the powdery mildew took it out early. hot days and cold nights are hard on em.
@mhpgardener5 жыл бұрын
I had a bit of mildew as well. For some reason, it stayed on one primary runner and didn't spread. I think the extremely dry conditions had something to do with it.

Happy Halloween to you too!! I’m having NO luck growing squash or pumpkins in my little greenhouse, yes the sides and ends are open so the pollinators can get in but the zucchini and yellow crookneck get about 2 or 3 inches long and just die.... Got any ideas?? Thanks so much for your videos I have learned so much from you over the years!!! SO GLAD to see you making vids again!!!!! W

If the bees are getting in, my guess would be it's heat related. These pumpkins really struggled with the heat, and only began to set when they got a bit of a break. Thanks.

That looks like a successful season of growing pumpkins! Pumpkin bars, pies and pumpkin soup too! Hey, Bobby, have you shown how you heat your greenhouses now? I've just built a 10x12 greenhouse and was wondering about heating it or not. Idaho isn't like Florida so I'm expecting really severe cold tempuratures. This morning it was 15*F and it can get that below Zero! We got a electric heater and thought maybe a hoop cover inside of the greenhouse might work. I guess I'll learn since I just got it build lately. First large greenhouse for us. Best regards, Butch in Idaho.
@mhpgardener5 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, the best way to learn is just to go do it. If something doesn't work, go to plan B...and C...and D.... there are so many variables when trying to grow in the winter. What works in Florida and Texas prob won't work in Idaho and Michigan. Good luck, it sure is nice having a homegrown tomato in January. I stopped growing in the winter because of the amount of time needed to keep things going, and I got tired of splitting wood. ;)

Id say that is pretty darn good for results. I have been following you for a few years now and you have made mention of setting up an Aquaponics system. Have you done so? If so do you have any comments you would like to make about the results. My wife and I are close to starting up a system. Thanks again for all you efforts in sharing with the rest of us. You do a heck of good job! God Bless!

Please can you next time do a deeper video on masterblend usage? The way you do your dosage according to the various growing stages, and how you manage your nutrient waste , water top up, everything around your personal technic. I have seen the video on the recipe but can you go deeper ? There is nowhere I could find good stuff about it. Thanks

What's the plan for this greenhouse next season? Is the nematode problem resolved?
@mhpgardener5 жыл бұрын
Haven't decided yet, but definitely not tomatoes. I've grown them for 9 years straight. Time for a break. Needs to be a warm weather crop for planting in March. So maybe cucumbers or some type of squash. I'll do another application of nematicide prior to planting just to be sure.
@2ladyhomesteadershodge8985 жыл бұрын
How about those nematodes? Do you think you have them conquered? Just wondering. How will you know? PS...Donald would have been proud of you and your results.Vivian Ann on the side of the mountain in northeast Tennessee
@mhpgardener5 жыл бұрын
I treated the soil with Azadirachtin, and I'll do it again before any Spring planting. Hopefully that will take care of the nematodes. The only way I know of to find out is to plant something, and see what happens. Time will tell !

Hi Bobby any particular reason why you grown in greenhouse? If i remember correctly you usually grow pumpkin outside. No?
@mhpgardener5 жыл бұрын
Yep, I always planted pumpkins outside. They just take up too much space. But since I had the nematode issue, I decided to try the hydro pumpkins. Not likely I'll do it again, but it was a learning experience.
