Greg Pettis exactly. And it you are natural you have longer recovery. So bro split is the only way to go. Otherwise you don’t recover and work out with damaged tissue
@sergezerkin4 жыл бұрын
Greg Pettis of course. I mean abs probably is an exception or calves also.. but big muscles they take time to regenerate. So if you train then good you need to give them a lot of time. Best would be even with massages and a few good long stretches to make sure it’s perfectly elastic and without knots. And u should only stretch the muscle if it fully recovered otherwise you pull the meat with cuts inside so to say ... I would say minimum 7 days. Perfect would be 2 weeks. But the real question is can you really train so hard to make the maximum goal damage to the muscles .. most of the people don’t train as intense that’s why they believe bro split doesn’t work. They don’t go all out.

When I started out I think I really just lucked out in my ignorance. Back in the 90s as a young teen I bought a cheap vinyl dumbbell set from argos knowing nothing about bodybuilding other than lifting weights= muscle gain. It came with a instructional pullout containing some basic excercises (one for each muscle group) ie dumbell curls. standing shoulder press etc. I just did 3 sets of each excercise every other day and started putting on muscle. Even when i trained at gyms much later I still trained this way and always trained alone. It wasnt until around 2002 that I started buying the magazines and seeing all these 'splits' which seemed really alien to me back then. I started working out with a few other training partners at the gym and realised EVERYONE was doing splits. They were all bigger than me so i trusted in what they were doing and I grew even more. I say i lucked out as by the time i came to splits my muscles were the right size they benifited from that extra volume and i came from a good base of full body workouts, by sheer luck lol

Professor B. Sitting in a slouched position places almost as much compressive load as deadlifts and squats in the same session. When done incorrectly, any exercise can be horrible for the spine. Deadlifts and Squats teach the glutes to share the load which spares the spine. If what you say is true than every novice that follows a proper program would be in bad shape by now.

Next year will make 27yrs of working out for me. Started as a powerlifter, then bodybuilder, but I recently got into Cycling (Mountain and Road) for cardio health. I've noticed, if I want to make gains (base weight is 205lbs at 16% bodyfat) to something like 215-220lbs and same bodyfat, I have to do sooooo much more. Honestly, it just isn't worth it anymore. I have to double my efforts for a 10-15% gain. All that being said, my goal is to maintain with as little effort as possible so I can continue working out long into my 60's and hopefully 70's. Just listen to your body, mix things up and in the end diet/water and proper rest makes the most difference.

Because you can not actually split up the body in different body parts when it comes down to exercising (lat activation with bench press, shoulder and long triceps activation with pull-ups), I myself am a fan of the full body program. When I was still a trainer I had most of my clients do simple full body programs for overall fitness, sport specific strength training or weight loss. Only did split programs for people with aesthetic goals. I’ve been working out for over 16 years and did all kind of programs. For me with my fitness goals and stressful job with irregular hours I know that a heavy full body program with two rest-days in between each session works best for me to keep making progress. Have to admit that I had to train hard to reach a certain fitness-level to be able to overload my whole body in 75-90min. with supersets and small circuits. (Powercleans- Ring muscle ups, weighted pull-ups- weighted dips- jumping air split squats, dumbbell shoulder press-biceps curl for example). That way I can shock my body quite hard on multiple levels, requiring not too much gym time to stay at it. I am not trying to achieve a bodybuilder look, so I am very content with my program, but bro’s pumping iron purely for that hypertrophy have no business training the way I do. Again it also depends on ones goals if a split program is best for you or not.

Wednesday is lighter push with heavy squats, leg press, and leg curls. Thursday is lighter pull with a heavier focus on biceps and low back

I've performed a regular bodybuilding body part split consistently for about 2 years before in the past - chest & triceps; back & legs; shoulders & core; biceps & forearms... It worked well for quite some time, but then it eventually became stale. I don't really know how to fully explain it, but I wound up becoming bored with it and ultimately lost my motivation to workout altogether... Other, outside factors were involved in this as well though; depression and general life stress etc. It's like it had become too monotonous; performing the same body part split for so long. I had gotten into a rut with my training, and had lost my zest for it. It's like it had become mentally redundant. Probably few people have actually experienced this to be able to relate. ...So now I'm starting a new push/pull/legs type of routine: Push Pull Legs x Total upper body x x This workout template seems to be better - more interesting - and the upper body parts get hit 2x per week (with lower volume per workout), with a fun total body workout at the end... I think I had gotten burnt out, in a way, in going all-out in every training session in my previous routine. This new split looks much better and more maintainable; wish me luck.

Its about adaptation to familiar movements. This "bro split" is just one method you can use. Individual body parts should not be implemented until you get stability and strength. Working out is about creativity and what works for the individual and is alot more complex and fun if you do your study and research. As for training body parts twice a week it won't work for everyone and could be very detrimental to some genetic body types. Full body/compound once a week with 3 minutes plus rest is all thats required but can be increased.

Push+pull+legs+hip hinge best for us ladies;). I started with the split as well, didn't listen to good guys who told me to go fbw. Now I discovered fbw I would not go back. Full body was my everyday thing when i was in track and field, i did achieve some gains but my genetics played a large roll. Now i take my time to work 1 bodypart properly during 70 to 90 minutes. Working 4 days a week, i only do legs once a week, I've seen great results with those splits. I've seen plenty of people doing full-body on a single day, most of them, won't even do a single exercise with proper technique, so how am i going to work all my body if it usually takes me 1 hour for chest, 80 minutes for legs, and 50 minutes for a full back workout? I don't wanna leave the gym feeling just slightly trained everywhere, i want to leave the gym barely standing up when i do leg days, i wanna feel all my muscles reacting when i leave the gym after i do back, and the same goes for the chest. I don't know man, perhaps i just can't figure it out, maybe i need some context, i just feel like you can't fit proper training on a single day for all your body, since i used to go only 3 times a week... I just don't feel like working my whole body 3x a week, my legs didn't grow so much until i began to work them hard and letting them rest for over 4 days.

"I like how your past haunts you but you're giving valuable information back to your subscribers". Anyway, what about an upper - lower split 3 days per week? Does it count as full body workouts? I like this split in particular because you get to superset a different muscle after every single exercise, whereas pull - push - legs split forces you to take 3-5 minutes rest after every compound exercise. Thanks to this supersetting routine, I only have to train + warm up for 60-70 minutes every session with 16-20 sets in total (which would be 90-100 minutes without supersetting).

I think it starts with time management unless you have dependents your leasure time should be your own. I cqn only train 3 times a week so to maximise my training i traim straight after work where it is quieter and i get my workout done in 45-60 min. You can get a lot done with 60 minutes when not talking and not waiting for benches. Generally speaking I know what body parts i am working for that day. So what I actually do will depend on equipment available (generally all available) and the order I do it. If you have experience and know different ways to train within your sets and rep range you put something together that will stimulate growth.

I do Chest, shoulders and triceps together twice a week. Back, biceps and legs together twice a week too. Lost about 45lbs and still going.

I do three days a week. Upper, lower split. I alternate doing back and chest as first exercises on upper days. Its hard but im making gains. I need legs to be its own day as my legs lack size.

So you used the split method to train legs 3x a week as it was a lagging body part? I just want to make sure I understood that correctly, I'm on the same boat.
