It seems that there are several lessons to be learned from this trip. The first is to always carry down gear inside dyneema fabric dry bags, but the more important one is to ALWAYS carry at least two spare cans of beer. Are there any ultra light beer coolers out there on the market?

Nightmare ! But these are the camps you remember 😁 i always have my sleeping bag inside my army bivvy bag at the bottom of my pack , had a similar incident to you and learned my lesson , its wxtra weight but its peace of mind. Another thing i always carry is an emergency foil blanket in my first aid kit , its not much bigger than a wallet but would have came in handy for the situation you found yourself in . Anyway loving the channel mate , juat watches your at abbs video , planning on doing a wee trio/video there myself soon 👍🏻🏕

Ah gutting about the beers mate. At least the Heathen was still in one piece. I'd have probably bailed had it gone pop! 😂 In all seriousness, sorry you had a rubbish camp. It happens to us all from time time. Great tips about the sleeping bag though. I actually want to wash one of mine, so it's great to see you go through the process and it's come out fine. 👍

Well done for staying positive and not bailing, some folks would have, me included. Life’s a constant learn isn’t it. I managed to destroy my drone and put it in a tarn on my last camp, complete user error and a massive learn, but we live to tell our tales. 👊

You're in a Hilleberg tent. No emergency what so ever. I'd be more bothered about losing a beer in this situation. Wet sleeping bag is the number one to not get wet though. Last line of defence for warmth.

If you've got a bivi bag, they offer reasonable protection leaving the sleeping bag inside it. Pinch the bivi bag with the sleeping bag inside where your feet would go, spiral wrap them together to let all the air out before packing into the bottom of the backpack to utilise the rest of the space. Then to waterproof - drybag/canoe bag.
@Simon_Nonymous Жыл бұрын
You poor bugger but there's more learning in things going wrong than watching someone who always (seems to) get it right! I've seen good comments re dry bags and bagging liquids, just your bad your sleeping bag wasn't in a dry bag. I'm a fan of keeping liquids on the outside of the rucksack, and anything that came in a glass bottle, I pour into a placcy bottle as I am as clumsy as a man can be. As others have said - very cool for sticking it out!
@TheMackemMountaineer Жыл бұрын
Absolutely true mate. I started vlogging pm my first ever wild camp so I've learned on screen and made so many mistakes haha most I look back on and laugh and am thankful they were not as bad as could be. I don't mind putting my mistakes out there as others will learn from them too, and let's be honest, its quite entertaining and funny in retrospect 😅🙏 thanks for watching brother
