When my kids were born they did the dinner for the parents the same way. When my son was born his dad was deployed (military) and I opted not to have the dinner because I didn’t want to eat alone. Later that evening they brought it in anyway and my doctor ate with me. She said if my husband was away serving our country she would make sure I still got to experience everything. He had actually been there for the birth but had to ship out a couple of hours after he was born so we were very lucky I went into labor when I did. Such good memories we parents have of when our children were born.

The hospital I deliver at started doing the fancy meals too! When I had my youngest, my husband had a stomach virus and couldn’t be with me, (Well, he could but I wouldn’t let him. 😂) and they gave me a whole cake and a bottle of sparkling juice that I just took home. My older ones thought it was the best new sibling yet! She came with cake, sparkling juice, and plastic champagne glasses. 🤣

You're close with your parents like I am. I love this video. My momma told me my birth story over and over. It was priceless. She passed away this July. We're so lost without her. I wish I had recorded her telling my birth story but by the time I finally remembered, she was too weak to tell it. She was precious, a true gift from God. Treasure every minute with your parents Sarah. Btw, my birth story is pretty funny. It ends with my mom throwing my dad out of the room! Lol

I didn't completely throw my hubby out of the room but I did tell him that he needed to leave for a while. I told him to go take a walk have a cigarette but I needed some alone time. Lol it was the first baby for both of us. I was having contractions and throwing up. He was hovering and kept asking me if I was ok. No I'm not ok, lol leave me the F alone!

I was born in a catholic hospital in Alabama in the 70s and they used to do the same thing! They would prepare a steak dinner with all the trimmings and serve it by candlelight (in the room) for the parents before mom and baby were discharged.. I'm the oldest and i remember joining them for that special dinner when my sister was born four years after me🙂

My mom was taken to the hospital in the back of an REA (Railway Express Agency) truck. My dad worked for REA, and he was out of town in Danville, Ky, so a coworker of his picked her up in the truck. That was almost 65 years ago. Just love all your birth stories. You are blessed.
