This animal likely has an ecoli infection (or salmonella) which is lower GI flora in the stomach. This is likely due to “tainted” food that should be lightly cooked before being offered as a precaution. Once ingested the animal will appear sick as early as 24 hours or less. They cramp up, often vomit and become listless as they suffer pain and discomfort. Treatment is an antibiotic that treats ecoli and salmonella as well as ensuring water ingestion/hydration. Clearly basic husbandry and temps needed to keep the immune response on point. Don’t forget the foods we can find at the grocery needs to be handled as a “ bio threat” until it’s cooked a bit to kill pathogens which can hurt our critters. Kev

I gave my 6ft male blackthroat to a zoo in a theme park here in the uk as I was getting offered money for him to be a breeding machine but didn’t want that so donated him for free as he was puppy tame and they could walk him around and do talks with kids etc. And he had an enormous enclosure made for him with a waterfall too, so no money in the world to me would’ve stopped me depriving him of that 🤘🏼

Hey Kenan, good to see the update on little Bobby. My son was 8 yesterday, and for the last 3 weeks I have been sharing a room as I fell down the stairs and broke a toe so I cannot get up to my room, anyhow, enough about me, my son has ADHD, I was laid in bed one night watching a video, and he saw the video. The video was of Slinky, and my little boy is now in love with Slinky, Pinky, Inky and Bobby (Slinky is his favourite). He never liked lizards before, and he is still not keen on snakes, but your amazing boys and girls have got him hooked. We have to watch a video every night before he goes to sleep. There is another side to it using ball pythons as an example. It’s a long explanation but a more realistic one. In some cases we are taking the “resource” alive instead of as skin or meat/trinket/novelty. Ball pythons are no longer needed as babies from the wild so for the most part they are now being rendered as meat/ canned and skinned which is a travesty as it’s now taking from the population without an interest in the overall welfare line there used to be. Like I said long explanations to fully explain needed. K

Do you need to preventatively treat Inky? Their enclosures are right next to each other and on videos you've handled Inky straight after Bobby without washing your hands, so Inky could easily have caught parasites, or indeed something else, from Bobby. Perhaps it would also be a good idea to keep the 2 of them separate until Bobby is fully recovered? Metronidazole is pronounced metro-nigh-da-zol by the way. Flagyl is a brand name for it.
@angelgreen3532

Inky is several generations removed from the wild, and his parents were parasite free. Kevin even breeds his own feeders in house, so there was no way to introduce parasites. Ink doesn't have parasites.

@@angelgreen3532 As other commenters have said, I'm not worried that Inky arrived from Nerd with parasites, I'm sure she didn't. I'm worried she may have caught them from Bobby, because Inky's cage has been right next to hers ever since she arrived. Plus, Kenan has handled Inky immediately after handling Bobby without washing his hands, which could easily transmit parasites or disease between them.

It's always super stressful when you have a sick animal, especially a reptile. Good luck Kenan, I hope Bobby recovers for ya :)

I'm sure Kenan isn't dumb enough to overlook it. I'm sure he's preemptively treating Inky.

Bobby is going to be such a cool monitor when it’s grown. He’s already so chill, granted he doesn’t feel great, but still I feel like he is going to be such a personable monitor 👍🏼

As I said the last time it looked like his backing up was him trying to get away from the pain he had near the back of his body. I've seen that same thing in horses and dogs. And now this little guy.. I hope he's going to be fine soon. Just watch for impaction. Hopefully he's on his way to full recovery and he'll have a long ànd loving life with you Kenàn.
