I think a lot of us think about 911 occasionally, but the reality is that is a tough car to everyday use and just park anywhere without being a nervous wreck. It gets attention and is pretty expensive. Even if you are really well off financially it is tough to justify that price range of a car when these cars and other fun enthusiast cars are so good for a quarter or half as much. You can't stretch the legs of a 911 on public roads, which for me is a huge factor also. I just have a Mini John Cooper Works Clubman and its an insane little car with the 306hp B48E engine. But with KW V3's it is faster than most things on public roads. It won't win a drag race against everything, but it corners like a mad little thing and puts a huge smile on my face.

Yeah, I would never recommend using a 911 as your sole daily driver. But nothing ticks all the right boxes like a 911, i didnt realize what i was missing until i got my own. They're really something special.

@@jack073 oh, no doubt the 911 is special. And I wouldn't even need a crazy model. I'd probably go for a 992 C4S or 992 turbo 4s.

I agree with you 💯! Thank you for sharing your journey and built. After owning my own F80 M3 for 4 years I don’t think I’ll ever sale it. I too have another car that I use for work but each and every time I get in to my M3 the excitement it brings me can’t be compared. The BMW community has been nothing but amazing and very welcoming. I agree with everything you said. I'm coming from 340xi Msport. About a month into my 2016 Yas marina blue M3 6spd. I love every minute driving it! Really enjoy your indepth reviews and instructions. I'm a feel driver and really interested in seeing your vid on the UCP and short shifter when you make it. I think that will be one of my first mods. Thanks for all you do for the community!

Great move! The 340 is a fantastic car, but once you get in a proper m car, you quickly realize what they are all about. Driver mods are easily my favorite things to do to my cars. Anything that is going to enhance the overall driving feel and experience is a plus in my book. Looking forward to getting both on the car and sharing my experience with you all.

Having both is ideal. I enjoy just opening the hood and looking at the S55 motor sometimes. Plus it is much more useable. The 911 is on another level in terms of handling. Its made to be a sports car from the beginning while M3 started life as a regular sedan.

Chris, I cannot lie I originally found your channel on the STi platform and was rather sad when you ended up selling it, but I've since stuck around because you're genuinely a cool person. Plus my dream car is also an M3 so that helps as well lol. I've got to give you props on the way you build your cars and even your F-150 too. Your mindset behind keeping things simple and OEM+ really wore off on me, and I try to only add mods to my STi that make since and increase the flow of the car without being too overpowering. Fully agree with the e46 m3 ruining every other car for you :D I am the same way, I have flopped between M3's and STi's a couple times now and keep coming back. I too went f80 in november of last year, and i couldnt be happier. There are still things I prefer about the e46, but the f80 does everything well enough to be able to easily overlook them

another, quality video! 👍👍...about the first gear "juddering" sensation, if you've not already, consider looking into the cdv {clutch delay valve} delete, I've recently done this to my BMW, and it's made a noticeable difference to my clutch pedal feel!

I owned an E92 M3 and it was so problematic, it kinda disheartened me on German cars. But now i find myself wanting F80 cause i haven’t had a turbocharged car in years and i love how they look even still. Kinda wild if you want turbocharge performance, you have to look at bmw first nowadays

I really miss the analog gauges. The G80 has the digital gauge cluster and I can’t stand it. Bring back the circular gauges!

Chris, i've been watching you since your sti days, wanted to say, it's warming to know at your age you still do the car stuff that you love. As I approach 29/30 years, i start to think it might be time to give it up to get on with life but seeing you go through the journey really makes me believe you can never be too old to be a "car guy". I have always wanted an m3 and was really set on the f80 but it is nearly impossible to find a good one for a decent price, really leaning towards a g20 m340i for the practicality until I can afford a g80. F80 is a beautiful machine but so hard to find unbeat.

May I ask for your experience on the te37 from the stock 20? I have a Tesla S 2020 and the stock 21s are too heavy from a full stop at stop lights on streets not to race but to get going for the nimbleness I am not sure what I would get from lighter wheels like yours thanks!!

Pretty great experience and increase in comfort due to the thicker tire sizing. I’m not sure what it will do for a Tesla, but it was a pretty big noticeable difference on my end in terms of rotational mass.

Am so conflicted I have an Audi a5 and idk what I want next do I stay with Audi and get a rs3 or rs5 or a bmw f80 maybe a g80 or gtr if I can afford that. I would love to get a g80 as my first choice but for under 55k am not sure what to get 😢

For that price range I think an f80 would be the best route to go. Not many options available at that price for a g80. Go test drive a few and see what you think. The rs3 and 5 are awesome cars, but you’ll be sold once you drive an m car.

F8x cars wood be the best and are the most popular so end up being slightly cheaper than the Rs 5s. The M Car is faster and more agile..its actually distinctly more agile and aggressive than the Rs5. Rs5 is more luxurious..great car nonetheless.

@@stephendavis3710 I think we all have to eventually make the step up to the G8x. It's a beast of a car that's better than most Porsche. It is however very expensive. Not sure it's worth that extra tbh..its just so much more expensive. Bang for buck and multi purpose with sports car handling and speed..the F8x is head and shoulders above the rest. Ppl love the look and always stare or come over to ask questions.

Not sure what 911 that’s worth it that is in the same price range as an f80. A 991 s is easily in the 80-90’s. Not to mention, 4 doors is quite a bit easier for hauling kids and family around.

Own a F82 for 7 years. I live in Canada so I store it during the winter. Whenever I take it our for the summer, I always look at what people are doing with the car. That is how I stumbled on your channel. Great review. I agree with most things. 1-2 gear is terrible. During covid, I listed the car for sale and got offers above what I paid; ultimately turning them down and delisting the ad. Love the car to this day.

Agree with your review. I have had my 18 F80 since new and still love the car. By far the longest i have owned any car. During that time I also have had 911 T, BRZ, Mustang Mach 1. Its hard to beat the value of the F8x for the performance it provides. The analog / tech combo is perfect like you mentioned where the new 911 and G8x cars are too much tech for my taste. I have thought about getting G87 M2 but when i seed the Ipad dash, I run back home to F80. The best garage is to have F80 and get 991 GT3 / GT3RS. Nothing like the sound of the GT cars at high RPM.

My first //M car was a 2018 Yas Marina m4 comp with silverstone interior. Absolutely loved everything about the car. Now I own a 2019 M4cs in limerock grey and I am even more in love. Bmw did a great job with the F-series models. Like you said F80 and for me also the F82 were one of bmw’s best looking cars ever made. Every Bmw’s next goal is a Porsche as some point in time 😅 for sure. But until then these cars checks all the boxes!
