Last week I had the opportunity to interview Bryan of Kies Motorsports and check out is Ferrari Red BMW F80 M3. He showed me some of his modifications, did a comparison with my 340i, and then we took it out on the road.
Though the F80 looks quite similar to the F30 both inside and out, it is a totally different car from the ground up!

Can someone PLEASE recommend a charge pipe for a MANUAL Transmission 2014 335i? I bought this one, and nobody could get it to fit...... It's a "Evolution Racewerks Aluminum Charge Pipes - F3X 335i 435i Manual Transmission" It wouldn't fit. Can someone get me one that will? I cannot use my boostmod3 because it blows up my charge pipe in like 3 days of use.

Had my Yas Marina Blue F80 for 12 months now and have had an absolute blast owning it. Such a versatile machine. We have two baby seats in the back, can fit groceries in the trunk, and can still be a fun track car.

I’ve always been an import person mostly because when you are young, those are what you can afford but I always knew I preferred BMW’s over Merced and Audi’s but it wasn’t until I got an F36 that I truly was like wow I wish I would have got into these cars at such a younger age. One of the biggest misconceptions I had was that there wouldn’t be much aftermarket parts and it would be hard to do any maintenance on the car or it would be really hard and really expensive to make them ride better or have more power so I was so happy to learn everything that is possible with the F30/F32/F36 platforms.

Gorgeous car!! I joined the BMW family for the first time back in early July when I bought a 2018 M550i on July 3rd (Car was originally sold on July 4th 2018). I absolutely LOVE my car and even though its on the G30 platform, have watched a number of videos from both Justin and Kies.

Super video and comparison. I have an F82 Competition and I constantly marvel how solid and rattle free it is after 40,000 miles. Wonderful chassis and so well made. Steering is great, I agree, and super responsive! I laughed at your hood comment because I just had my yearly Texas state inspection last week and the tech had to ask me how to open the hood! 😀. The DCT is not a automatic. It’s a dual clutch meaning it’s setup just like a manual with the ability to shift on it’s own. There is a good wright up on BMW DCT ‘s on BMW corporate site. :-)

It depends how you define "automatic". It's not a torque converter automatic nor a CVT. But it shifts gears completely automatically via a computer and the two clutches. I don't think when the term "automatic" was invented that it was dependent on the exact technology providing the automatic gear changes just that the driver didn't have to shift. In my mind it's just another type of automatic that happens to use clutches.

My friend it’s not automatic it’s dual clutch and it’s actually a stick shift gearbox. Automatic Clutch is controlled

Nice M3 perfect setup man just wanted to know if you knew the front charge pipe where it connects to the cooler you have a fuel line that runs under there and its so close that it touches the silicone hose that connects the charge pipe to the cooler will the fuel line eventually brake from the vibration of the engine let me know what you think

M cars are assembled at a different factory from regular BMWs, they're even built by a different company, BMW M GMBH as opposed to the regular cars which are built by BMW AG (look in your door jamb). They're also identified by completely separate VINs in the first 3 letters, WBS vs WBA. i was very surprised the author thought that an F80 was simply an overpriced F30, that could be the case for "M badged" cars if anything...

Hey Justin, how much better is it than a 340i though? There is still a large price gap between a used 340i and an M3, for street use I think the 340i with some mods like yours is enough?

Great question. personally, even after driving this Im perfectly content with my 340i. It’s a remarkable amount of performance per dollar. I got my 340i last year before the market went crazy for $29,000. That’s like half the price of what F80’s are going for now with similar milage. The F80 is an awesome car no doubt, but for half the price I’d take the 340 any day 😁
