chinese is hard im chinese myself but there are still a lot of words that i don't know how to pronounce or write,what we normally talk is in 白話 of course. but in school when we study some ancient literature. like 孔子 老子...they write in文言文 which our teacher had to break down every word cause they all have different meanings then what we usually uses.

你好Vladimir! I just started learning Mandarin Chinese as a 90 day challenge! I come from a background in Japanese, do you have any suggestions? Also, which should I focus on, simplified or traditional characters? Thank you, and I love your videos! Great tips.

+MarcLearnsJapanese Hi Mark. I wrote a few articles on my blog about learning Chinese (www.foreverastudent.com). Try checking those out. It's a bit too much to cover in one simple comment. Unless your aim is to live in Taiwan, I would learn Simplified. Once you speak Mandarin fluently, learning to read Traditional will take you a week.

why is it different to learn by reading with Chinese?
@FeliciaFollum9 жыл бұрын
ohhh you answered it lol thx
@Lolshi118 жыл бұрын
+Felicia Follum Because Chinese works as concepts rather than words, also written Chinese and spoken Chinese often don't use the same types of words. Some Characters are used pretty much strictly for written Chinese and are never spoken. It gets confusing, atleast for me.

+Vladimir Skultety És még azt szeretném kérdezni, hogy a cseh nyelv miben tér el leginkább a szlováktól? melyiket mondják a nehezebbnek? a cseh megérti a szlovákot és fordítva? vagy csak nehezen?
@VladimirSkultetyOfficial8 жыл бұрын
Erik László Azt magyarul egy kicsit nehez megmagyarazni. A kiejtes, nyelvtan es a szokincs mas, de mennyire az nehez pontosan kifejezni. A kulonbseg talan olyan nagy mint a spanyol es a portugal kozott. Melyik nehezebb az tokeletesen relativ es attol fugg hogy mi a tanulonak az anyanyelve. Ertunk egymast siman, gondolom hogy nagy reszbol azert megy egy federacioban eltunk egyutt 40 evet. Szlovak es czeh gyerekek mar nem ertenek egymast olyan jol.

Vladimir Skultety sure...do you know how long you've studied some or all of your languages? Of so how long? Hehe I was going to let you send me to the link but I'm still curious ;) I'm new to the whole language learning thing and it was super encouraging that it took 8 years of study to get comfy with Chinese...
@VladimirSkultetyOfficial9 жыл бұрын
Felicia Follum I was learning languages my entire life:) I went to a Hungarian kindergarten when I was 4 and just continued. How long a person learns depends on the language I think. I learned Russian in a few months, but that's because it is close to my native language. Chinese on the other hand took me about 7-8 years.

Vladimir Skultety cool thanks! That totally makes sense...I've studied Hindi for a couple years and its significantly worse still than my Portuguese was after 6 mo....thanks

What do you think learning from translated books into Chinese?
@VladimirSkultetyOfficial6 жыл бұрын
Hello. I don't understand your question.
@MinatoNamikazeYellow6 жыл бұрын
If a book is translated into Chinese, does the book contain the Chinese way of thinking to tell a story? And Chinese sayings and wordings like 成语?In terms of language learning, does it make any difference to learn from a Chinese native book and a western/other book which was translated into Chinese? What pros and cons do you see there?
@VladimirSkultetyOfficial6 жыл бұрын
The issues you mentioned arise with most translated books I've read so far, regardless of the language they were translated into, I think. I like to read western books translated into Chinese, because they are more readable. 成語 etc. are still used, but since the book was originally written in a western language, the whole vibe is different.
