Always take a video of problem so you have evidence to show shop.

With Tesla’s insistence on (over)engineering everything, it’s hard to believe these door handles continue to be designed so poorly. Thx Dave for a peek inside the process!

Tesla and over-engineering are not words normally ever used together. That being said I am very jealous of the service Tesla provide in the US. In Europe and the UK it is a very different story.

@@Viqer_Fell Not in the Greman sense, meant as complicating simple tasks. A bit of tongue in cheek

With this problem I had found and repaired broken wires in driver door rubber hinge grommet. This wires were at first causing intermittent connection.

Great work! Impressive.

Tesla generally just replaces stuff if you say its acting up. They don't go nuts trying to challenge you on it they just take care of you.

Amazing what running a KZbin channel achieves with Tesla.

The Tesla techs are generally great guys. Chris probably has a play with Tesla Semi repairs based on his background once they hit the roads in numbers.

I’ve had 4 or 5 door handle replacements over the years 🤣😩

Glad its all fixed! As someone hoping to get into a used Model S sometime in the future, I hope someone be it 3rd party or Tesla can create a more permanent fix for this door handle issue that keeps coming back up.

Gruber Motors has a more permanent solution I believe

The Tesla Model S door handle needs design improvements - besides reliability issues, I think it's excessively noisy

Amazing video. I totally agree with you about the intermittent problems.

So it is the gear the breaks through wear and tear. Tesla needs to redesign it to lessen the chance on breaking.

Hopefully you gave him a nice tip

Weird. Doesn't sound like the intermittent problem was caused by anything Chris replaced. 🤔 Welp… more whiz-bang features and functions inevitably translate to more chances of problems. Hope the handle never balks again on you!

That’s great they took care of the issue promptly. I wonder if it has anything to do with the cold and ice as well in our New England weather.

Two of my door handles stop working once every 8 months. Sometimes it fixes itself after a few hours or at most a week. It's very frustrating because I want to fix it, but there it appears to be a software thing. Nothing I can do.

I don't think that Tesla engineers ever heard of the KISS principle. KISS means Keep It Simple, Stupid!

I think exposure to UTube fixed it.

OMG My door handle has a booby! The sky is falling, the world will end. I’m going to make a whole video about how dumb I am. Technician has incredible patience listening to this goof ball just go on and on even after he clearly explained and fixed problem.
