Jonathan Lynn (channelling a bit of a vocal tribute to Rodney Bewes in that performance) then went on to co-write Yes Minister and more.

I grew up with shows like this before moving to America in 1983. I remember both these actors by sight, but have not seen them in basically forty years. I still watch many old shows like Rumpole and Rising Damp. Some comedy holds up well and some shows its age like this one. An expat in Florida.

Stripper Brandy Di Franck was seen 6 days prior to this episode being broadcast in the Sweeney episode 'Supersnout' ( shown Sep 15 1975 ) & she wore the same outfit. Her other appearances as a stripper on tv shows include the Play For Today 'Brassneck', the 'Get Some In' episode 'VIP Guard', The Wheeltappers And Shunters Club ( bizarrely her stripping routine appears on a tie-in LP & she is featured on the album cover alongside Manning & Crompton ) & the 'Z Cars' episode 'Rummage' ( also featuring Judy Matheson as an exotic dancer, Judy has said in an interview that Brandy taught her the rudiments of burlesque dance for the appearance ).

Yes, you heard correctly. That was the title of the Agatha Christie whodunnit. it was later changed to the alternative title mentioned in this clip. It is as they say, a reflection of the views and attitudes of the time.

The 70s really was a terrible time for sitcoms. Only a small handful were funny or can stand up today. Mediocre and dire come to mind. But some clowns still live in their perfect, poorly remembered, past.

@@stephengoulding1595- Rubbish. Rising Damp, Porridge, and Fawlty Towers are the only real classics. The comedies of today are far superior. As has been proved by so many top 50/100 lists.

@@stephengoulding1595 80s best was The Young Ones and 3 of the 4 Blackadders, Yes Prime Minister, and The New Statesman. 90s you have League of Gentlemen, The Royal Family, Spaced, Alan Partridge, Dinner Ladies, Father Ted, and Rab C Nesbit. now the 2000's: Not Going Out, The Thick of It, The IT Crowd, Green Wing, Peep Show, The Office, Extras, Still Game, The Young Offenders, The Inbetweeners, Outnumbered, Catterick, Count Arthur Strong, Phoenix Nights, Car Share, Black Books, Ghosts, Marion & Geoff, Nighty Night, Man Down, Mum, Toast of London , and Two Doors Down. Beats ALL previous decades. Plus I have not even touched on the far superior to ours, the American ones. But you carry on living in your little fantasty world of the great 70s.
