Great job. I love to use stuff sacks and pouches to keep my pack organized as well. My main pack I keep as a 4 seasons pack at all times. It's good exercise and keeps me used to the weight. I am going to be sewing a large habersack/knapsack for my day trips to my buddies land. Keep it up, my friend.

Say Heah Dave, I finally made it to my man cave. I went lite over the weekend, But what I did bring complimented eachother, The Gerber Gator in the 154 CM I didn't even use because my Fox Bushcraft Parand worked magnificently as a one tool option although I did team it up with my Vic. Rangergrip 78, I used my Phillips carefully to untangle paracord. It worked, But I got a Genuine British Issue Army Clasp Knife with a Marlin Spike, I'll be bringing just for that. But The Rangergrip complimented the Fix Parang. I don't have to tell you how good the 24" Council Pack Axe worked and so did the Silky Bigboy 2000 in the sheath. I knew the snow would be a obstacle so I brought my Kodiak Gearsling and it worked great. Just the right size. I prolly could of put it along the side since it has a similar carrier to your pack, But I used the sheath with the sling. Yeah, My Fix Bushcraft Parang is a good one. The N690Co. Bohler Austrian Stainless is good stuff and worked out great in the wet and snowy condition. I finally got a knife to team up with my Blind Horse Bushcrafter, It's a 4" blade and 5/32" thick with a Scandi Grind, It's a little tank, Just like Mors writes in his book, "A knife should be strong and work's wood well" Indeed it does, It has a Natural Micarta Handle which I had the handle flattened, The natural micarta is a tan, and most if my knives have black handles, So with than I could of used my Tio's Mini Scandi 2.5. But my new Cold Steel Mackinac Hunter Picket Knife with the Tri-Add lock will work better and natch better too. I'll get the sheath fir it., Anyhow, Thanx you for sharing. I like watching your video's for good tip's, Thanx You for sharing.,,.

HaHaHa! Asked by a subscriber? Dave, I'm sure you get asked by more than one subscriber because you have great information on your channel. Oh well, I'm gonna bug you now. In that flap pocket you had knit caps. What type were those and what do you prefer? Also, I'm always wearing bandanas (100% Cotton) but I don't use a shemagh. Is that one 100% Cotton or some other material? I'm like you and believe in getting multiple uses from my gear hence my last Rudiger Roll video. Fantastic video, Dave. Thanks for taking the time to make and share. Take care friend, Tim
@HighCarbonSteelLove8 жыл бұрын
+boggycreekbeast Haha! Thank you for the kind words, Tim! The knit caps that I wear in this type of weather, 99% of the time, are the military 100% wool watch caps. Very warm! My dad introduced me to them. He said that he was issued them in the Navy to keep watch and they were the warmest hats he ever wore, especially in being still and keeping watch, not moving around to keep warm - www.amazon.com/Military-Genuine-Winter-Warm-Watch/dp/B00Q5COO3Q/ref=pd_sim_sbs_193_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=51a8hqaZm-L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR147%2C160_&refRID=160SX8QN94D0H0TTX9NX. In the summer time, I am a huge fan of cotton bandanas. I always like wearing something on my head, all year long. Yes, the bandana and shemagh are cotton. I appreciate you stopping by, my friend and it's great to hear from you! -Dave

Say Heah Dave, Summer only Ok, My Rodent 5, 2Hawks Double Bit Hatchet and my Wicked Tough Saw, My pack either my Condor Mexpedition 2 or my Haversacks, my shovel is a hand jobie, with my 5C's, But I also carry my military Web belt where I can carry my Trio Belt Knife, Double Bit Hatchet and Saw, plus Canteen and Necessities Pouch, So I can rearrange and important things I double up, A Mora 510 is usually around my neck. But if I go into the hard stuff like brambles a clearing tool, Lately because if you extend your arm the BK-4 is an extention so even though it's around a 9" blade, I can use it as a clearing tool and it's lite. As the weather changes so does my carry.

Actually, I knew I wanted a axe a little larger than my Small Forex Axe, But not that I would have a problem transporting it, I through experience found that a heavier Axe head I can shorten the handle thus I had a House Axe made using my 5" thin cheek and cutting edge and had it heated on a 19" White Hickory Handle. Alot laughed, Now they want to use it to process wood on our trips, The weight plows through everything in front of it. It is a bit on the heavy side so belt carrying it isn't what you want to do, It's Simply too heavy, But with a shoulder harness is how I carry it, We'll same thing with the Council Pak Axe in the 24" infact I saved that video. It has a little heavier Axe, moderately long enough handle (24") should make it just a tich longer than my S. F. A. but manageable enough to carry, I'm also getting the harness set up with it. Thanx, Dave.
@paulie4x18 жыл бұрын
Say Heah Dave, Yeah, Slowly I'm bringing out of rotation some tools I'll be using for the on-going colder, wet and snow weather, I had all the intentions of using my Benchmade #162 Bushcrafter, Last time I believe I brought out my Benchmade #156 CSK In D2 with Serrations, Just to see if I could make curls with Serrations. I did. But today I Christened my 17"Hultafors Bruks Agdor Hatchet as my official Bush Craft Axe(Hatchet), Don't get me wrong I think my G. B. Small Forest Axe is Aces, and my new 24" Council Wood Craft Pack Axe with the heavy duty sheath and sling is Simply TiT's, The 17" handle is still compact enough so I can still on person carry it, But It makes a pretty good short two handed Hatchet when I need to chop down a dead fall and trim and size it. Eugene on KZbin makes good leather holsters for that kind of carry, But this up-to ming week, the weather is still cool, but nice and no rain, Hip Hip Hurray, But that wouldn't stop me. But I'm defenetly taking my #162 Bushcrafter, my small knife is going to be a Weidmannshiel, The blade is a pocket knife size, a large pocket knife, I think it's a Bird and Trout Knife, But very nice in 440c. I coukd neck or belt carry it, But I'm starting to use my 3Day Backpack, Since I have a tarp and a wool blanket, plus a termo under suit, and extra socks, But basically I carry similar gear to you. Oh, I always have a Herf-A-Dor Cigar Humidor, It's water proof and I have three sizes depending on what type of trip. The boys laugh at me because they notice I like matching my cutting tools especially my cutting tools, The mask on my Hultafors matches the Sheath of my Benchmade #162 Bushcrafter, and even the Folding Saw Sheath, (one fits 3 different saws). Or I can find a place in my pack. I think I'm going to have a Molle attachment for a Hatchet on my backpack, But the 17"Hultafors Bruks Agdor Hatchet, Like I said I can carry on person even with my Canteen and a Necessities Pouch, I think we have alot of similar tastes. Keep up the great work, Job well done, Thanx.

Yes it is Dave especially when you have a few. But I did change my mind at the last minute, I ended up taking my 2Hawks Warbeast Tomahawk , It has three sharp edges and for the weight, It's very lite, But chops like a dream, I teamed it with my Benchmade #162 Bushcrafter and that Weidmannshiel clip point bird and Trout Knife as my neck knife, It was cloudy, but in the 70°'sF. So I had a nice day to practice. Usually I like larger knives and with Choils, Like my Ratmandu, and my Rodent 5, But my Rodent 4 is turning out to be one of my Fav. Bush Craft knives and I'm piggybacking it with my Rodent 7 in tge Baldric Carry. Talk to you soon, Laters, Dave.

Hey Bill! I wish I owned my own forest, my friend! I shoot video from 2 different State Forests in the area. The New York State Dept Of Environmental Conservation outlines the rules of hunting, primitive camping, fires, etc...all on their website. @HighCarbonSteelLove8 жыл бұрын
+Scouting Free Thank you for the kind words, Marc! I had heard the same about the zippers. I have had this pack for a couple of years and have never ripped or torn any part of the zippers or material. One time, the "head" of the zipper pulled off the actual "zipper" part but it was a very easy fix. Other than that one time, the zippers have been tip-top. I am relatively light with them and make sure I have pockets packed evenly before pulling the zippers and I never force them. Great question, my friend! -Dave

Hi Dave I have a question In Ontario I have never seen bank line do you know if we have it here and what it is called or where I can get it as it sounds very handy otherwise I use paracord - have a great day dude
@HighCarbonSteelLove8 жыл бұрын
+guncotton 1 Hello, my friend! That is an excellent question and I just added link to my video description of where I get all of my #36 bankline. www.memphisnet.net/product/2245/twine-tarred-seine. I have never purchased it anywhere else. I believe the thepathfinderstore.com also carries a 1 pound roll of bankline (or tarred nylon twine or tarred mariners line), although I have never bought it from there. I use the Memphis online store because I know that it's made in the USA, its top quality and relatively inexpensive. I think you would enjoy it a lot. There are many different sizes and thickness, but I prefer #36. I prefer it over paracord because it's easy to work with and maneuver, fastens to itself really well for knots and is much less expensive than paracord. Also, #36 bankline has a 340 pound approx. break test, so I can trust it. Thank you for watching and let me know how the search goes, my friend! -Dave
