Hi! I love your videos! Being a self-taught artist, they help me hear what another artist 'sees' and the process. Your art is beautiful! Thank you for so generously sharing your knowledge, process, skills and experience. I started as a watercolorist, but I made my way around to painting on silk. Everything about silk is so similar to watercolor that my "watercolor-thinking" brain is very happy in silk- feeling as though I am still a watercolorist! Lol! I'd love to participate in your monthly painting projects on Patreon, if you wouldn't mind a former watercolor silk painter? Some of my color names are different because I'm using DuPont Silk Dyes, but many are the same. Thanks again! 🙂

Learning tons from following your tutorials Tim, done 4 this week, really pleased with the results. Can’t wait to have a crack at this one tomorrow. I teach graphics and illustration at college but that’s all digital, photoshop, illustrator and after effects…which I love, but, it’s nice to be painting, especially watercolour. I enjoy the differing results which is virtually non existent when working digitally.

Looking at the photograph, it definitely looked to be a challenge, with the choppy sea and busy headland, a good work out indeed. I appreciate your explanations of your thinking process and approach to the painting, in which you have captured a lovely, atmosheric interpretation of the scene.Thank you for the demonstration.Loved it

Hi Tim - thanks for this tutorial - I found your technique and commentary on your brush very useful softening the waters edge reducing the light marks Not getting bogged down in describing each and every building "the most important part of the story is knowing what part to leave out" Herman Charles Bosman - The Road to Mafekeng A careful application of white gouache CLOVE - good one

New subscriber! I’m curious if you dab your brush on a towel or something before picking up paint.

Great painting, and I learned a lot, as I always do. Not so sure about "CLOVES" as a specific method of painting waves though ... when you put it all together, it's kind of like, "you use the techniques of painting." :)

CLOVES is more of a reminder of key elements to consider

Just didn’t think it would work. I was wrong. It ended up a forceful and lively representation of the sea.
