bringing baby home from the hospital and getting adjusted to life with a newborn has been so rewarding, but definitely hard at times with my c section recovery. It's been 1 week since giving birth, and we're sharing what our day looks like while caring for our newborn and recovering from a c section.

About Sierra and Stephen IRL
Hey friends! I’m Sierra Schultzzie and this is my vlog channel with my husband, Stephen. We started vlogging 4 years ago to document planning our wedding and growing together as a young married couple, and the channel has now really become our passion project. We love creating travel vlogs, disneyland vlogs, showing behind the scenes of creating my fashion videos, and all the little ups and downs of our unfiltered, real life. We also shared our journey trying to concieve and are now so happy to be sharing our experience with pregnancy and becoming first time parents.

I know you dont have to share things with us, but Im happy when you choose to! Its nice to see how happy you guys are and be part of this new chapter in your life. Its also specially sweet to see how involved Stephen is and how he loves and cares for you both. I know its his duty too, but you just dont see a lot of loving caring dads represented this way...Props to both of you! Youre great parents already!

Biggest thing I (quickly) learned to include in the diaper bag: extra t-shirt for mom! (And maybe one for dad.) Also doesn't hurt to just keep a little duffle with extra pants in the car. There will come a time when some kind of bodily fluid ends up unexpectedly leaving your child and ending up all over you, and it'll happen the one day you aren't going home for another 6 hours. Don't be like me. Keep an extra set of clothes on hand! 😜

Tip: store each diaper and outfit in a ziplock bag. Then switch out the clean for the dirty as needed. This prevents yuck from getting all over your diaper bag and greatly reduces the odor. Plus, the world will thank you if you package dirty diapers before you leave them in the public trash. I know it seems wasteful, but it was worth it for me (sorry, Earth). Far superior than the pooper bags you can buy.

If it’s not too intrusive, and I know this is a delicate subject, but I was wondering if you could ever talk about your postpartum body, and how have you been dealing with all the changes your body went through, if you plan on going on a certain special routine or anything… I know it is not scary for some people, but one of the things that scare me the most about pregnancy, is what’s gonna happen to my body, and it is always comforting to hear from other peoples experiences, especially when they have a body positive mentality ✨ and congrats on your baby! There is no need to pump between feeds, her own body will regulate supply based on what baby takes in, if someone wants to pump, it is advised to wait until up to 6 weeks post partum to start so not to induce oversupply ❤️

They probably don't want to share Grace's middle name online. Let them have some private information. I haven't shared my baby's middle name online and I don't have a big KZbin channel or a large following. But I never shared it on my FB, or Instagram (even though I only have family and friends on FB, and have a private Insta for personal pictures). It's too easy to misuse information like middle names and birth weight and length. Sierra and Stephen are completely allowed to keep baby girls private information private. As viewers of their channel we are not entitled to any info they want to keep to themselves. If they haven't shared it in a video or online on instagram then our job is to assume it's information they don't feel comfortable sharing yet, or at all.

Sierra looks amazing and well rested. Stephen looks like he hasn't slept a second 😂 Also, I'm sure you're getting a ton of recommendations and mommy tips. My tip would be...... Your body is learning your babies food needs. That's why they're getting rock hard between feedings. That will normal out soon. But I recommend pumping in between if you can, then freeze it. It's always good to have back up breast milk in the freezer. You never know when you might have to pump and dump over the next year or two. Also so many more congratulations. You're rocking your recovery. C-section recovery is rough. Edit to amend a little.... If you're rock hard and she's not ready to eat, that's when you should pump a little.
@87glassrose
@87glassrose 3 жыл бұрын
There is actually no reason to pump and dump at least not for alcohol. The alcohol leaves your breast milk at the same rate as in your blood. The alcohol doesn’t just sit there till you pump it out in your breast milk or anything. At least that was the latest research I read recently. I personally won’t drink until my babies are at least three months old and only in moderation. But those are my personal rules.
@k8tallison250
@k8tallison250 3 жыл бұрын
@@87glassrose I didn't mean just alcohol (even though I don't recommend drinking and breastfeeding. Alcohol can be present in breastmilk for hours after drinking, why risk it?) my youngest is 9 now, so maybe things have changed.... There are also test strips to test alcohol in breast milk. But there are many other reasons you may have to pump and dump, or you can't feed your baby yourself. Medications as one example.

Always amazes me how some people talk about c section as if they are an 'easy' option... Yeh major surgery, opening your abdomen after you body has already endured 9 months of stress. My advice (that you didn't even ask for lol) is to just enjoy your easy baby. With my 1st extremely easy child I listened and believed the "just wait and see..." talk around me expecting my happy little one turning into a complete monster. He is soon 4 years old and he is still easy, he has always been through all the years. And I ruined it for myself just waiting it to get bad. I hope I just ignored all the talk and enjoyed my little one. My 2nd one is easy as well and this time I was clever enough to embrace it. :) All the best to your family. ❤

I recommended bringing two outfits in the diaper bag when they are little as they sometimes have multiple blow outs. A spare tshirt for you as well. As again the blow out or vomit is often on you.

Omg girl yes! C section recovery is so hard! I just remember crying over the pain like just straight sobbing because I couldn’t get up on my own. C sections not only take a toll on your physically but mentally so make sure you’re still taking care of yourself too babe! Something that helped me & was my literally saving grace was the belly wrap thing they give you at the hospital. It gives so much support & you don’t feel like your falling out. It took me 2.5 weeks before I could size down to the target belly band I got for my shower but omg are they worth it! So glad to see everyone is happy & healthy!

I think it must be scary to let go of the baby after birth, should she ever come to any harm outside the womb. I know a mother who had a nervous breakdown after feeling like that.

@@lisaporter-smith676 My cousin had an only daughter over 30 years ago, and she became quite depressed and anxious, divorced, remarried, but was never quite back to her old self. I know it was much more than PPD. She really is a total stranger to me now. It was scary. But her daughter, after the mom's many psychological struggles, was nurtured and loved, and thrives, from what I hear.

I'm 29 but not a lot of my friends have had kids only 2 of my friends & only my friend this year who had a bub has told us about what she experienced after birth. You always hear about pregnancies & sometimes the great births but you don't really hear much about the birth & aftermath. My friend was in labour for 18 hours & she gave birth in feb but she still has trouble "down there" bc of what happened in the birth & she's gotta have surgery in couple weeks as she hasn't gotten better due to what doctors did. So I was shocked. I love how much women now share what happens because it can help a lot & also others can learn like I didn't know certain things could happen. You're such an amazing woman Sierra. So excited for you to experience this next step in life.

My mom had a c section with me and she couldn’t hold for a week cause she was put in heavy antibiotics due to the pain… I do not know how they managed to breastfeed me, my mom did not share that part of my birth yet 😅 Just thought I would share if it makes you feel any better
