For the escort: remove the transmission try and wiggle the input shaft. If it moves its more trouble than it's worth, if it doesnt have any play I would say that your problem lies in the torque converter. And for the throttle problem with the Thunderbird: try spraying intake cleaner into the mass air flow sensor as well as the throttle body. If that doesnt help I would try cleaning or replacing the fuel injectors, when you floor a car it briefly shuts off the injectors, that's why normally there is a little bit of a hesitation, yours may be stuck or clogged and that's why it will accelerate better while not under full throttle.

few things about the t-bird 1. you should do a "lincoln locker" (basically you weld 2 of the gears in the diff and it turns it into a free diff lock) look it up its easy. 2. those are probably stock manifolds, and flipping then shouldnt affect the running... itll run off a base map stored in the ECM and just have a CEL. swap the manifold left to right 3. change the trans fluid. the rpm issue might be another trans issue. id try doing that on the escort as well.

I'm thinking throttle position sensor. Extremely common issue. Near the throttle body, you'll see a 3 wire connector. if you probe it with a multimeter, you'll get a reading between approximately .9 volts up to just shy of 4.5 volts depending on the throttle position. If it doesn't make it all the way to 4.5, you'll need a new tps
@BudgetGroundPounder5 жыл бұрын
The Thunderbird if it's not reving up past 3000rpm, one of the vacuum lines could be broken. It could also use some spark plugs. Fuel injection cleaner. What happens sometimes, is one spark plug doesn't work all the time & it doesn't burn the fuel then it goes into cat & then carbon sticks to it clogging up the catalytic converter. In turn not letting the car rev up, just like that. Because it's a V6 does it could have 2 cats or one or sometimes 3.

Probably a shift solenoid going out or something else in the electronics. Test them and if they give you a high ohms reading, they're bad and need to be replaced. Could also be the harness of other loose wiring going to the valve body electronics, but usually when you have an automatic that won't shift or shifts only intermittently and it isn't the shift linkage, it's a solenoid.

Step 3: if it doesn't move have a lot of play and savable you'll need a torque inverter now if your not afraid of the work go to the junkyard and pull on if you want you could buy a new one there like 300 bucks. step 4: get it back into the car fill it up with correct gear oil and let it rip tater chip. @samantharondeau45805 жыл бұрын
Straight pipe has no muffler, as it's one continuous pipe straight back. If the system has a muffler or a cat it's not a true straight pipe as there's more than just an exhaust pipe in the system. But I agree. Definitely straight pipe it haha. Or side dump, or straight out the hood 😂

To answer your question about the rev limiter. Some cars have this thing called rev limiters. "Usally high performance cars have them" It pretty much doesnt allow the engine to rev up when its not under load. The reason behind it, is because it keeps your engine from wearing and tearing it self a part. it just helps increase the life span of your engine. Nvm just saw the full video 😂😂 Let me recap Thier could be a problem with the fuel pump, simple as that 😂 its not getting enough fuel pressure at higher rpms. The information on top is still useful though 😂👌

Fuel pump, filter, or injectors. Definitely not getting enough fuel. When WOT its taking in too much air, which is why it'll rev out at 3/4 throttle

Most likely it's a clogged Cat converter. It cant breathe. I get that a lot when people think the trans is not shifting.

Oxygen sensors before the catalytic converter is for fuel management. The sensors after the catalytic converter is for monitoring the efficiency of the converter (emission testing)

Sounds to me like either it’s low of fluid, too much sediment in the fluid (needs flushed), or a weak pump. Shops won’t guarantee a new pump in an old transmission because there’s too much room for liability. So they try to sell a complete rebuild. My advice is drop the pan and replace the fluid, filter, and gasket. If it helps but doesn’t completely fix it I suggest having it flushed to completely remove all the dirty fluid. If replacing the filter, fluid, & gasket doesn’t help then you’re only out about 75 dollars and some scraped knuckles

@MrFredboy5 жыл бұрын
Nah. MAF will affect shift points and make the lockup clutch in the converter hang once it's locked, possibly even cause it to stick in 2nd-OD... but it will not prevent reverse and forward drum band engagement. That's purely lack of line pressure, and stems from lack of fluid.

If you weld the diff both sides of the axle will be forced to spin..also jeep wheels but will have to take fenders off, cut, or build a suspension lift. Also with the headers you could of cut the end off that was hitting and used some piping and your newly found welding skills to make it how you wanted wouldn't be very hard
