I truly hope you know what an impact you have on us gardeners. I bought a hanging basket years ago and it failed. Because of you I know it was because the nursery put too many plants in the basket and I didn't water it enough. It discouraged me from doing hanging baskets for years and I just stuck to gardens. This year, I made a list of petunias, calibracoas and other plants you've done videos of. I now have 25 hanging baskets that i fertilize, water and do maintenance on, on a regular schedule. I've had sonmany compliments from neighbors and community members that walk by. I tell anyone who will listen that I learned everything from you. You have made me, and I'm sure many others feel confident with baskets and planters because of the education you provide. I also love that I have found my people - you know the ones who also have plants follow them home. Thank you for sharing your love and education of plants with us. Please keep it up. I've already begun making my list of flowers that I'd like to try for next yr from your videos.

Very well said! I could not agree more. I’ve learned so much. I’ve always been the girl who both the little 6-packs, which did ok, but from now on I’ll be buying the larger pots and putting less plants in the pots…Oh and using larger pots!!!

It's good to know I'm not the only one who has plants that don't grow perfectly. Your baskets mostly look great. I enjoy watching you gardening. I get lots of tips.

The heuchera could be left in the Proven Winners pot, add an extra few inches under it to raise it up a bit more. Plus it will make it easier at the end of the season to remove it. I do this all the time so my perennial roots won’t get rooted together with the annual roots

That’s a great idea.

Wow, I was surprised to see geraniums and lobelia together. I thought they had opposite lighting requirements. I love them together!
@UpNorthGardenMI4 ай бұрын
I’m Northern Michigan and they play nice together - both can handle full sun to part shade. This is a more heat tolerant variety of lobelia compared to older ones. In hotter parts of the country, these might need a break from the afternoon sun. These geraniums do pretty well in lower light situations in our area as well… so shadier spots with a lot of indirect light works too.

Yes, love the Primo Wild Rose one! But they all looked great.

Just adore your casual yet effective gardening and easy to grasp tips. Can you tell me your secret for lobelia??? I have never been successful and love it. It dies as weather warms anywhere I plant it. Also do you get the dread Japanese Beetle where you live. Have not heard you mention it….. Thank you I could listen all day.
@UpNorthGardenMI4 ай бұрын
So far, no Japanese beetle 🤞🤞🤞 Have you tried the Techno, Hot+, or Laguna series of lobelia? They are more heat tolerant… but if you’re in an extremely hot area, they may be outmatched by your conditions.

It seems the beautiful hanging baskets in the greenhouses are at their peak. I buy them and get them home and they peter out. Swore I wasn't buying anymore because they are expensive. Hopefully, with your tips, I may try again.

I have to repot a dragon wing begoina. It is currently in a nine inch pot. Do you have any tips on how to repot it without breaking the leaves?
@UpNorthGardenMI4 ай бұрын
Usually Dragon Wings can manage in a smaller container (they just don’t get as big) - so I usually just keep them in the container they’re in. If you repot, get a helper. One or both of you should keep a hand on the soil and then turn it on its side (on the edge of a table if it’s large). If it’s really hard to get out, you may have to flip it upside down with one person holding the plant/soil and the other removing the pot. Good luck.

Is it Verticillium wilt on the dahlia? If it is, then it should effect the petunias too.

Do you ship plant to other areas 😜🤣🤣? I live in central Iowa so don’t know if I will find the last petunias you showed, I love those

Sorry. That would require a whole different skill set.

Corey, do you treat your plants with fungicides and insecticides?
@UpNorthGardenMI4 ай бұрын
For annuals, I only treat if there’s a problem. Same for perennials except for a few plants that are especially prone to spider mites when we have them in the greenhouses - those get Neem oil spray. In the yard, I try to avoid sprays - except for deer repellant. There are some annuals that get fungicide at transplant, but that’s when working with plugs.

Posen… northeast corner of the lower peninsula - there’s a link in the KZbin page description.

What do you spray the dahlia with?
@UpNorthGardenMI4 ай бұрын
Neem Oil, then Cease, then BioAdvanced 3in1. All three got rid of it temporarily, so I’ll stop spraying now.
