People often type in "Rent in Vancouver" or "Buy in Vancouver" AND they get met with crazy prices. The average 1 Bedroom Apartment in Vancouver is around $2600 a month... That, is where TINY HOMES could come in 🤔
Connect with me on Instagram :) / theadamjbell
Today we explore a possible long term solution to housing prices that involves increasing the amount of homes, and affordability at the same time 🏡✅
We toured two Vancouver rental apartments, to see what Tiny homes Living is actually like. And interviewed some Vancouver locals to see how tiny home living has been for them in Vancouver 🤌

The micro apartment is too small for me, but I love all the amenities the building has. It reminds me of the nano-suite dorms at UBC with its size, but I like that the dorms have beds that convert to desks rather than having two separate furniture items. More space efficient in my opinion

Micro apartment living is exactly what i want. Idk what it is but making such small spaces work is just so appealing to me. Im moving to Vancouver beginning of June. Im so excited and a place like this will do it for me.

I have a two bedroom 1 bath apartment for $515 a month. That has trash and water included. The price has increased since I moved in to $550 for a two bed but I'm still at the $515 price. It is insane to me that people pay $1000+ for a studio the size of my bedroom. I get this whole apartment to MYSELF. Studios need to be $500 to $600.

It's funny because the 385 sqft appartment is a regular size for a one bedroom in Paris and the 100 sqft room it's a regular size for a student room. So it's funny to see what we call Tiny in Canada when parisian will really join the line to live in apartments like that. Nevertheless the prices of these properties are higher than those of Parisian apartments and it's crazy to think that the prices in Vancouver are similar to those in Paris but in comparison you will never have an apartment with so many services and these views in Paris.

Currently I live in a studio, and I have found great joy living here. The location, and ease of upkeep are great benefits. I can consider the microapartment if work/pleasure options were walkable distance. Is the gym/pool use included in the rent?

When I was young and poor I lived in what's the size of a dorm room, because that's what it used to be. The entire apartment complex used to be part of a university dorm housing. It's no longer considered part of the school campus and the dorms were renovated into tiny apartments. You have enough to sleep, shower and grab a bite to eat. But there's also a pool, a club house, etc. and everyone kind of knows each other. It really worked well for me at the time, but now that I'm older and very sick, I have too much medical equipment that would nevere fit in a tiny home.

Hi! guys, is there any chance you're living in that tiny apartment? Sharing spaces like a kitchen or bathroom is stressful for me, especially when landlords rent out even a living room to more than one person. So, I'm really tempted to find out more about that building, the smallest apartment, because at least I know it would be only my own space if I rented there. But I do want to hear about the living experience from anyone who has lived or is currently living there.(the latest experience, the better)

My first place in Washougal was a tiny house built in 1920 it was 400sq ft. I loved it but they kept raising the rent on me. From $600 to $1100 per month over a year and a half. The landlords didn't do anything to the house. I made the upgrades.

We are being brainwashed into thinking micro living is the way to live. 100 Sq. ft is not an apt. It's a space. I lived in 188 Sq ft for a time, and it was fine. But to think one day soon, developers and governments will be shoving us into tiny boxes for their benefit. The rent will increase to the point where we can't afford these units, and we will wonder what happened to normal living. Just think, developers can build 5 times more units in one building. They do that in Japan.

the whole point of living in a small appartment is to have rent like 600-700$ month... 1200$ for a box? thats stupid. also paying for location? is also another stupid problem. if you were born in BC and dont have the opportunity to move or unwilling to seperate from families and friend you shouldnt have to suffer 2k/months appartment prices just because you live "in a good city"

Do NOT and I mean do NOT invest the rest of your income in "travel" and "experiences", you should be investing in Apple, Microsoft, S&P500, saving as much as possible. The reason being when you're 55 or 60 you may not be able to work as often or as hard as you can now in the prime earning years of your life, and those travel and experiences you had aren't going to help you in that situation.

@@hmmm2564 true. But for every day of travelling now, you could travel ~15 days when you are 60. My parents went on most basic vacations until a couple of years ago... now they saw the whole world.. just today they went to Australia actually😀 and they also helped me in life to the point where i (and my wife for that matter) can go on vacations and plenty more, while only working couple of hours a day. And i will be able to help my kids. I personally would never work for vacations. If money doesn't come easy, i am not going anywhere. If i must work 10 hours or even more for one day of vacation, no thanks😀 it is not that good!😀 again, that is just me ofc. I also stopped partying when i was like 18-19 (yes this is balkan we party before 18 or 21😁), when i started dating my now wife, so vacations since then are quite similar to what my parents are doing anyway😀 One more: renting long term is quite stupid as loan payment would probably be similar to rent, or often even smaller. So all you need if 20% upfront and you will own the whole thing in 20-30 years, without any additional expenses after that first 20%. Yes, saving now is worth so much more than saving later.😀
