I tried calling coin guy a while ago and left a message. I recently started stacking and coin and currency collecting. Seeing a random one of your videos with Guy in it and I fell in love with collecting. He's pretty much the reason I started. I'm a disabled war veteran who has Leukemia and isn't currently winning the battle. I always wanted kids but was never blessed with one, but my littlest brother just had his first kid and I'm saving this collection up for her for when I'm no longer here. It changed my life for the better. I'm a 5 year recovering addict who was on the edge of relapsing. Coins keep me in the moment, calm, and just keeps me grounded. Thank you Coin Guy!

I visited him while traveling through town, it was a mistake. He offered me $18 per oz for my ASE's when spot was $24, I inquired to buy some and was told $36, a 100% spread on bid/ask which is a bit absurd (I dont mind them making money, got bills to pay and all). I wish I never went because it ruined these videos for me.

@@iamgabriel5823 yeah they were still in the tube from when I bought them, like I said, I expect to take a small loss, but I made almost $10 more per oz selling to an online dealer, which I absolutely hate myself for doing instead of supporting local businesses, but my family needed it. Not trying to hate, just sharing my experience, I love the videos and the wealth of knowledge though, he's a great teacher.

Went to a garage sale in the early 90s in Victoria BC, the guy there had table after table full of mostly Olympic silver coins he was selling for way under the value marked on the coins. He said he couldn't get the banks to take it and the Mint told him "too bad". Could have made out like a bandit but at that time, I figured silver was becoming a relic so didn't buy any. I was clearly wrong.

As a former stamp collector, I know that Colonel Green was also famous for purchasing stamp collections from the famous (and infamous) highfalutin NY City stamp dealers. He actually purchased many major one-of-a-kind specialized collections which today are recognized by the historical provenance of his ownership, but he also was duped many times by unscrupulous dealers who put together seemingly priceless collections, but were nowhere near the value stated, as they were playing on his ignorance and arrogance. He used to show up in NYC in a Rolls (I believe), driven by a chauffeur to pick up his treasures and was treated with great reverence.

I'm from over the pond in the UK and love this channel. Another thing which many are ignoring or not considering is the amount of debt countries are in. So the UK Debt to GDP has reached 100%, France is close to 120% ,Italy and Greece is far worse but the point is the economies are not growing by any tangible amount but debt repayments are. The UK is spending around £70 billion servicing it's debts each year. I believe the UK will de-value the currency with the next 5yrs or so. Other countries will do similar but the EU countries can't so this is a massive issue going forward so investing in Gold etc when it's at an all time high is a gamble but one maybe worth taking given the underlying issues with economies and debt.

I wanted an inflation hedge and after checking around I find that the round trip cost to convert dollars to gold and back to dollars when needed can be from 11 percent to 15 or 16 percent. Remember to add in shipping and insurance costs if buying online and in some cases local coin shops charge sales tax which adds even more. That means today if I buy gold it will have to appreciate approx $225 to $265 just for me to break even ! That means instantly after the transaction to buy gold I lose 11 to 15 percent. I cannot rationalize how this is a good investment unless I think the dollar is going to drop to near zero which I dont thing it will completely collapse.

38:45 an idea of pension in France for an official who worked for 42 years in an hospital is $1300 a month only! If you have worked for 30 years and lost your job you will only get $900 a month. A rent here for 2 bed size appartment has a range of 800 to 1500 $ / month depends where you live. In Paris in a nice place rent will be like $2500 to 3500$ a month so imagine living with only 1300$ a month particularly if you are single.
