Thank you for your comment . It would be interesting to see your photos of those years. I am also looking for veterans who could give more information on my MA-1 with patches from the Vietnam period. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2aveGeImK92f9U

A very impressive collection. It is a credit to you. Clearly, it took time, dedication - and not insignificant resources, to put this together. Good job.

Thanks for the video. Back in the mid-60’s our next door neighbor was a Navy pilot and he gave my dad a new Ralph Edwards contract G-1 which my dad gave me. I had been looking for more info on the jacket regarding when it was made, etc.

I bought my first G-1 in 2018 from a women. She had her High School boyfriend by it for her when he went into the Navy in 1978. It was made by the Imperial Leather company. I think it's made from cowhide because it seems to be thicker/heavier then the 2nd G-1 I bought from a women who served as a crew chief in 98. The one made in 78 is more of a light chocolate in color vs the one made in 98 is a darker chocolate color. Both are the same size but one is a little tighter fit than the other. It's my favorite jacket!!

How does the ‘76 Imperial Leather version compare quality and fit wise with your earlier models? I have the opportunity to buy one at a very good price but have no opportunity to try it on first. There’s also a restored 1941 Gordon & Ferguson, only the outer leather shell is original, the knits, lining and zip are period correct reproductions available, but it is considerably more expensive. I wonder if the two are comparable and if I’m better to buy the Imperial leather one as i would like to wear it on a regular basis.
@m-65fieldjackets3 жыл бұрын
Of all my jackets, the contract 76 Imperial Leather is made of the thickest leather. Size 44 exactly matches. The jackets of the 50s are made of thinner goat leather, but they are also very durable. Contracts of the 70s and 50s are different jackets, I can't advise you, they need to be seen live.

@@m-65fieldjackets Thank you for the quick reply! The G&F appeals due to its historical value and the fact that it has been restored accurately with the correct items, but it is very expensive. The Imperial one is well priced but has damaged knits and i have no idea on how to go about replacing them. Thanks once again for the prompt reply. The search continues..

Do you recommend anywhere in particular for collar replacement? Looking to replace the cheap fake fleece with real mouton, preferably with the classic rust/honey color.
@m-65fieldjackets3 жыл бұрын
Finding the original mouton for the G-1 is quite difficult. Look for an old sheepskin coat or a mouton fur coat suitable in color .
