Thanks 🙏! Went and picked up a Helix ( in limited edition blue ; 0 ) and your preset was the first thing I loaded. Wow, I’m actually playing the riff now, amazing how much having things sound correct help get the feel... you’re awesome man, thanks for sharing this, put a smile on my face ear to ear, no joke. Been chasing Gilmore tone with stomp boxes forever, never got close...

David Gilmour’s guitar solos in Comfortably Numb are my all time favourites! The emotion, the tone, the cries, bring me to another place. Richie you have mastered these. I would love to hear your cover of this song in its entirety! Where can I find it? Thx!

Wow I learnt a lot from this video. Thinking about Helix or Kemper. The helix seems so versatile here and which is a big plus!

Prefaced by: I do not have Helix, and have not heard of it before today. I've respected you since I found you on YT. This is just incredible attention to detail, though. Awesome insight into how the sound is made, and extrapolatable to NI GR5 or OverLoud TH2/TH3. Lots of cool insight into how to arrange things, even *not* for that exact song.

Great vid. Sweet tone. I keep shying away from the variax, but when I see you playing it, I get curious again. Do you use it often? And for what kind of thing? (I'm a veteran working guitarist - you know what that entails.)

Genius with the harmoniser! Just when I thought my patch was good 🙁
@RichieCastellano6 жыл бұрын
I just added it last minute. I was really missing something, so I went back and listened to the original and heard the harmony. It might be coming from an instrument in the orchestra, but this solution works too.

By the way I downloaded this and with a slight tweaking for my Fender Strat it sounds fantastic. Thanks! Any suggestions for the rest of the songs guitar tones? It would be great to create a Gilmour preset complete with separate snapshots for different sections. Should I just pull back some on the gains and tweak within the parameters? Any input would be appreciated.

sounded real good richie,Im really liking the helix but still a little out of my budget.im wanting to buy a line6 hd500x or a boss gt100.is the hd500 real close to the helix,hopefully you get time to get back with me,Ive ask you about a couple weeks ago and hadnt heard back but I understand how busy you get and dont have time to answer everybody,keep rocking.
@RichieCastellano6 жыл бұрын
I'd definitely go with the HD500.

The second solo goes into overdrive so what would you recommend I add/change to get that sound. I've had the helix about a month now but due to work have only spent about a week with it. It's simple yet incredibly complex at the same time 😂

What you said about the twin harmoniser explains a sound that pops up in a couple places on Gilmore's work. That's a very good ear you have there.

@Dylanguitar696 жыл бұрын
I'm unclear....when you split the signal path, you have a part of your guitar tone that's not going into the IR. So that part of the sound is being blended in without any speaker emulation?
@leehanson14166 жыл бұрын
I'm not Richie, but the the rotary speaker acts as a speaker block, and sounds better without a speaker or IR on the same path.
@RichieCastellano6 жыл бұрын
Yup, what Lee said. The the rotary effect is technically a speaker simulator so I kept it out of the IR path.

I have my foot switches set to my snapshots within each preset. I am trying to be able to control which snapshots are enabled without having to click on a foot switch. When I go into Helix edit, I do not have the ability to choose Bypass on a snapshot. I would like to have ability to set a CC param, like you are doing, so that I could have midi change from one snapshot to another. Do you have any ideas on how I can go about doing this? BTW, I have tried setting Program Change 1 at 1:00:000, Program Change 2 at 2:00:000, etc... but nothing changed. I think it is because I need to send a CC param. I would love to know your thoughts and thanks for the tutorials

I must be doing something wrong. I've loaded this patch into Helix Native running on Garage Band, using the HX Stomp as dry interface (USB input channel 5). The sound I get with this patch is nowhere near the sound in the video. It sounds like flies buzzing compared. Using the WhoWhat cab. What could I be doing wrong?

This is just solo patch so how do switch to this from clean patch as this not a snapshot patch ? Do you have patch that has rythmn then lead on it you can stomp to ?
@nudsh5 жыл бұрын
The strat is way better, but I think you have a tad too much gain or boost. There was a little fizziness to it, maybe more mids would help. Sounds great though!!
