Ref: Mating my SmallRig99 Pro to the mini v-mount base; it’s the replaceable mount plate attached to the battery that doesn’t seat all the way. I swapped the plate installed on the battery with one of the replacement plates I had received with the 4063B package I received…all is now right with the world.

@armondobbabone8556 oh ok, interesting. I wondered what that was for. I might try that to see if it works, but on my other rig, I use the Kondor Blue V mount Pro so I want all my batteries to work on both my rigs

Would you recommend the SmallRig Star-Trail Lightweight Matte Box if I'm using a 24-70 mm lens? I've read some reviews suggesting that it might be too heavy for handheld shooting and could potentially damage the lenses. I'm considering whether it might be better to invest in a high-quality 2-in-1 ND filter instead. I’d appreciate your thoughts on this.

@domenicavalencia3815 I've never used it so I can't really recommend for or against it. It doesn't appear to be particularly heavy though, but you can get it with a support that attaches to rods so if the weight is an issue and you have rods on your rig, you should be fine. If you're going for a much smaller rig, maybe a simple filter might be better than a mattebox

what about powering a monitor with a dc to dc?
@itmeremy
@itmeremy Ай бұрын
@@bernardocuesta4217 that'd work just fine. There just doesn't seem to be quite as good of a choice of cables with that compared to D-Tap though

@@itmeremy thank you, its just because i dont own any battery with dtap yet
@itmeremy
@itmeremy Ай бұрын
@bernardocuesta4217 totally fair. Most powered V mount plates have Dtap so it's not necessary for the battery to have them, it is useful though

@@itmeremy indeed, but as long i just want to power up my monitor i will start with an npf plate but it doesnt have an dtap so it can be usb c or Dc to dc as well as dummy battery but i dont know why i dont like dummy on monitor
@itmeremy
@itmeremy Ай бұрын
@bernardocuesta4217 fair enough. The benefit of not using dummy batteries is you can still add a battery if needed either as backup or so it never has to be turned off

Pretty much have the same A7IV build with the v-mount and smallrig gear bro. Just waiting for my new stuff to arrive! How do you find running A7IV and FX30? I’m gonna have a watch of your FX30 rig too but would love to know if you feel it does as good a job as the FX3 for your workflow ☺️🤙🏽🎉

Nice! I think the FX30 and a7IV work well together. I've never used the FX3 but it's pretty much the same except for the sensor. I do usually prefer the FX30 over the a7IV unless I particularly need full frame. But Cine EI, monitoring LUTs in camera and the ergonomics all just make the FX30 better

Im thinking about a pretty similar rig, but instead of the vmount battery I want to get an NP-f970 battery with a plate, as 2 battery's are cheaper than a single VBattery. would u recommend going the Np-f route? what advantage would vmount battery have over the np-f battery's?
@itmeremy
@itmeremy Ай бұрын
@strongstonks7699 I can see your reasoning. A 970 is about 56Wh at most so you'll get just over half the battery life of a 99Wh V mount. I think if the NPF plate that you get has enough ports for everything you need, then it should work just fine. I'd say the main benefits to V mounts is that they usually have more ports and there's some smaller ergonomic advantages. But nothing that'll really make or break a rig compared to an NPF setup. If you haven't seen my video about V mount batteries, that might give you some more insight. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2fHo3mLfbSYr6c Hope that helps

@@itmeremy well I bit the bullet and I got mysel a V mount battery with plate, mostly because of ergonomics, but 1 will be more than plenty for my r8. Went with a Smallrig vb99 se, as it was somewhat reasonably priced.

@strongstonks7699 fair enough, I have VB99 Pros so I imagine the SE are also great, just with less features
