So everything works now with clearances recommended by the manufacturer? What a shocking surprise... 😁 Yeah yeah, I know - Steve already got the critical info from Rossler himself. But that shows that even an educated assumption can cause lots of problems. And I love that Steve doesn't hide "failures" and shows ALL the stuff that can happen with racing cars. 😎🤟

Since it's IR you need to pay attention to the IR reflectivity. If you have copper and a thermal camera, it's like looking in a mirror. I think it was either copper or gold that had near perfect reflectivity. (Pretty sure it's gold hence the JWST mirrors)

@alanhill5513 I know I, myself, have never been told to check anything other than converter clearance from the flexplate to the face of the converter. Is it just under a certain number you're going to cut off flow? Is there a maximum number that you don't want to exceed? Also, exactly what to what needs measured. Can that be shown in more detail, please? This is the main and only feed for the converter? I always make sure we have 0.125" to 0.187" clearance flywheel to converter when slid back. Again, I was never told to measure anything else, and never heard of anyone else talking about it. Clearly, don't want to ever get that wrong.

You have a fluid dyno strapped to the back of the motor. the fluid couldnt escape, so it was absorbing the hp, causing the slow spool. That is what caused the fluid temp rise, the horsepower is being transferred to heat.
@KPSchleyer
@KPSchleyer Жыл бұрын
It was actually stopping the fluid from entering the converter. Which caused the fluid that was in there to super heat, because there was no "new fluid" to push the hot fluid out.

It might be spooling quicker because there's more torque the converter is supplying at lower rpm because it isn't slipping as much now and the engine is off-gassing higher exhaust pressure sooner? Just a guess though.

Chargers tend to spool better when the convertor applies the load properly. Sounds way more linear. Good job working through this issue!
@NeverEnoughPyro40
@NeverEnoughPyro40 Жыл бұрын
@joetate8563 Super chargers do not need to spool up, Superchargers RPMs is determined by the RPMs of your engine, Which means The rate in which your SC increases is determined on how fast your engines RPMs increase! As the load on your engine increases vacuum starts to decrease and your blow off or bypass valve starts to close and then you will start making boost! Either way when I leave the line my SC is producing power instantaneously, There is no need to sit at the line with the pedal to the floor waiting for anything to spool, Super chargers work much differently than turbos! With a supercharger if you rev your engine to redline your supercharger will be spinning at maximum RPMs instantaneously, There is no spooling with SCs! Why do think people In the 1980s and 90s preferred superchargers or nitrous over turbos, The technology with turbos was not perfected and everyone always complained about the lag turbos had! In my area almost every mustang had either a Vortech or Paxton on it, I know this because I am a mechanic and I did almost all of the installs, There was no KZbin for people to watch and learn the information needed!

Quite the journey. Have you ever put your engine on a shaker table. These put the whole package thru a whole range of frequencies and watch all the connections and how they behave. You might be stunned to see what happens to wires and pipes as frequencies change and match the natural frequency that can set up a shake. Stops silly stuff happening like busted wires or hoses working loose.

What a awesome learning curve. And Steve takes us all along for the journey.🙌. Less slip...holds onto the motor better meaning motor sees more load and therefore spools better?
@1234567890CAB
@1234567890CAB Жыл бұрын
One thing about spooling quicker: heat is energy. If the flow through the converter was restricted and the converter was trying to pump or suck fluid and causing it to cavitate, the expansion and collapse of the cavitation bubbles were converting a good amount of the HP from the motor into heat instead of rotational energy. Now that the converter is working properly and fulid is able to move freely through the converter, it is most likely no longer cavitating and so more energy can be converted into rotational energy than can be converted into heat or thermal energy.

@c103110a That is the problem with everyone going to KZbin watching a video and then thinking that they are actual mechanics! I can’t remember when the last time I have watched a how to video where every piece of information was given in order for a person to complete a job properly and have it last! Almost all of the how to videos are made by an average person who has learned how to do something by watching another video, These are KZbinrs pretending to be mechanics! Even Steve will never tell you everything needed for a person to just go and do it themselves! I love watching videos where people keep saying how mechanics overcharge and are no longer needed, The funny thing is people don’t know what they don’t know! Sure you may get the job done but will it last in stand the test of time, Is it going to be reliable are you going to have any issues will the part fail because you were not told about one simple thing! I have been a mechanic for over 26 years and I have owned my own business for the past 10, I can’t even count how many customers have come to my shop because they tried to fix their own vehicle by watching a KZbin video and screwed something up! People think that they are saving money but a lot of the times it actually ends up costing them more! that was a rookie mistake that you made, You may think that it’s no big deal and you caught it! I have seen that exact same thing happened to a customer the only problem is he did not find out until his brakes locked up at 60 MPH! Because yes when using KZbin to educate yourself it is filled with a bunch of KZbinrs thinking that they are mechanics, If they were they would either be working in a shop or they would own their own shop! Good luck
